Such an interesting tutorial....I love that you are showing all kinds of ways to make the eyes....you are so wonderful to take the time to show these tutorials....it takes alot of time & you are an amazing person to take the time to share you talent....you are greatly appreciated!! Your dolls show the great time, care & love you put into them.....thanks so much.
Thank you again Joyce this has been a dream of mine for some time now. I never new how much went into a tutorial until I started making them myself and I appreciate anyone that shares something of great value. Maybe I can create a great sculpting form here for everyone LOL.. Who knows but Im going forward and loving all of it.. I have met such wonderful people here just awesome.....
I think your dolls are awesome the love you put into show in each of your dolls. This eye tut is outstanding. You are a talented artist.Thank you for sharing all your talents
Wow thank you for your comment Im blown away by it. Its people like you that takes a few min to express a feeling and by doing so can help the person to keep going with there dream.. You are the one that shows the love in you and then spreads upon the ones in need. No sculpture can give that much that you have given me. Thank you and everyone for all your support and love...
the color is really indescribeable, compared to any eyes you can buy,it beats them hands down.I love learning from your tutorials almost as much as I love just watching them.Thank you for taking a lot of your time and sharing that with your knowledge to teach us novices in all the phases of making an art doll.I have to say your in my top 5 favorite you tube artists,,again my thanks,Lisa
lisa houston Wow Lisa thank you so much for expressing such gratitude. Your post here has picked me up thank you for giving me that. The littlest things are so big to some of us and yours was a mountain and the sky above..... Thank you !!!!!!!!!
Fairysnmypond wrote: "The littlest things are so big to some of us and yours was a mountain and the sky above..... Thank you !!!!!!!!!" Gracias, amiga!
Lol stop your making me blush.Your work is amazing, really and plus taking the time to do the editing and video making it must be very time consuming,I don't think a lot of people understand how much work it really is :)
Catherine S. Todd Catherine Im speechless and full of loving emotions for all of you. There times while starting a video and its taking me 10 times because I kept slipping out of the camera LOL or something and I feel in that moment to just walk away and never come back LOL.. But you know when you have a burning desire to give nothing can stop you. Thank you for expressing something that tells me Im doing good. Thank you so much!!!!!
lisa houston Thanks Lisa well blushing is good it just makes us all even prettier LOL... Your right a lot of people dont know how much time goes into these videos. But the time really is worth it when I hear back from all of you once in a while LOL... All of you are so wonderful thank you..
To be honest when you put the glitter on it i was expecting it to look tacky and not realistic but it came out looking really good, i might use this in the future :)
Oliver Hill ty but its not really glitter that Im putting into the iris. Its an embossing powder that takes heat and melts. Some Glitters can melt with heat not embossing powder. The trick to it is find embossing and there are many with sparkle pieces and just place maybe just one that is depending on the size of your eye. Make sure you press it into your raw clay then cook. Just don't over load the iris with the embossing it will look lumpy. Experience will be the key to this eye at first but once you see how little the embossing you use then you have it. Good luck and hope you like it and make beautiful eyes.
I love the name of your channel. My aunt used to have this farm and the pond at the bottom of her garden is where we thought faeries lived. I think about it every time I see one of your videos. Excellent eye tutorial!
Oh this is an old video and yes a lot of beginner's like this method. I had a beautiful pond in my backyard and I had decided I wanted to grow more and take the road to selling. I had to come up with a name. My mom a dad came to visit and I told them my plans but I needed a name. My dad blurted out and said the name was in front of me He pointed at the pond and said Fairysnmypond. We all lit up and felt so right The name means a lot to me as for great memories My dad past away after and he said don't ever give up your dreams and don't ever let anyone tell you can't do something. Being in the art world I love who I am and never want to become like others. Stay true enjoy the art and give out love to all.
Thank you but wen I meant about the Basil stuff it was just the powder type glittery stuff you would sprinkle onto wet clean polish??Thank you for your info though and I'll have to check out the UV gel stuff further
That's what she called it. You can get stylist in different sizes. She is using one with a larger ball. That's why she is calling it large ball stylist.
Very sweet of you!!!! I will be doing a tutorial sculpting a tinkerbell from beginning to end. If anyone would like to join in and sculpt with me please do. I will also show you some ways that I came up with for myself to help with problem area's.....If you choose to sculpt with me if you get stuck I can work with any of you through the tutorials I make. Im waiting on my order of clay and I will put up everything I will be using and then I will start a sculpting tutorial.
Yes the magic glos cures crystal clear. Is it bubble free no is it for me could be. As for bubbles its nothing like mixing up resin. In my tutorials I share how I just drop a little bit straight down into the iris and pull straight up slowly. I very very seldom get bubbles. If you do just by taking a little straight pin you can work it right out of the iris. Lets say you really screw up, just lightly wipe it out and start over with a new drop. As for not being cured all the way through remember if you have something that is deeper then what your nail would be. It will need to stay under you light longer then nails. If your iris is pretty deep do it in layers and it will be fine.
Create&Explore Love Answer to your questions. The glitter stuff is called embossing powder. You don't want the embossing powder that is just one color. I found the mixture of powder and the little cut outs in the powder worked best. If you try just straight glitter it can burn while your cooking the doll. The embossing powder is made to take heat because you want it to melt. I used soft chalk pastels. Magic glos for the clear lens. The eye in the tutorial I think it was a 6cm so the iris would of been 3cm. You to keep this in mind very small eyes you wont be able to make them just like bigger eyes because they are so small and all your needing to do with much smaller eyes is just make an illusion.
Fairysnmypond Thank you for your explanation. It is very helpful. Here we don't have hobby lobby in Australia but I am sure I can find similar tools. I also want to tell you I have seen many ways to create eyes but these are the most realistic and beautiful. The UV gel, does it need to be baked or does it just dry?
The UV gel has to be put under a uv lite. You can put them in the sun and cure them that way if you dont have a light. I did that when I didn't have a light and that changed for me like real quick. All you need is a 9volt uv light and look around some can be expensive. Check out ebay and even Amazon or your local stores.
That's a great buy and thank you for sharing. Many people ask where to buy and some want way to much for them. Im so sure people will love your sharing.
Thank you for the info, yet when you baked it at what temp? As mine just melt! Im using Fimo and it says 230f on the pack, yet thats too hot as it melts.
Here's the comment. I always cook my clay at the temp it calls for and I can cook it over and over never browns on me. I don't know what your using as for an oven but I will suggest somethings that maybe can help you. If using a toaster oven this can be a problem. Clay being to close to the burner. Very important to have a temp gauge in your oven and right next to your raw clay. Watch the temp gauge and see if your oven is spiking in temp. Sometimes ovens can have hotter spots. Don't always rely on the oven gauge. Thinner pieces can be covered with just some polyfil. Wrap the hands with it and you should be good to go. For your clay to be reacting to the heat in the length of time your saying it truly sounds to me your oven is way to hot. Polymer clay cooked at right temp will not burn. Now I will mention one other thing. Depending on the brand of clay your using I found to be some clays will change color and get darker when repeated times of cooking. The clays I have mentioned in my videos have never burned, change color. Fimo is one I do use and never has it burned on me. And I cook my pieces many times. Hope this helps.
+Wyah Mo Yes you can bake them. The advantage when using pastel chalks you have no problem with the color changing when cooked. When using some kind of paint you will have to pre-test them to see if the heat will change the color of paint. When using the uv gel I spoke of its made to be put in the oven. Hope this has given you all you need if not let me know.
Yes you can with using pastel chalks. If you use acrylic paints beware they can change color when heated. Not all colors do but many do. Always do a test in your oven before putting them in your dolls head. Thank you for watching my tutorials. Enjoy and have fun.
Sorry one more question ? I have nail glitter that is similar in size to the embossing powder can I use that instead also, or does it have to be able to melt when baked?
Embossing powder is used to melt . Any kind of nail polish will eat polymer clay. I would stay away of that and be safe. Always remember what ever you choose to use it will have to take the heat from your oven. So always test your eyes before you put them in your dolls head.
Great tutorial on making eyes. When you use the Magic Gloss UV Gel do you have to use a light to cure it or will it dry on it's own? Another question where in Hobby Lobby do you find the Microbrush? When I ask in the store know one knows what I am talking about. Thank you so much for all your hard work I really enjoy all of your tutorials. Looking forward to the next one.
Laurel Hawk On to the magic glos, they say you can cure them in the sun and when I first started and because I couldnt get a uv light right then. I will be totally honest with you for me it was a disaster and I was always losing them. If you have very good sun light that comes in a window that would work. They will cure in the sun if conditions are right. All I did Laurel is I bought a 10.00 9watt finger nail uv light and it works wonderful. Look around where you live and see what you can find because they can be very pricey. For the brushes matter of fact I just went to Hobby Lobby and my store now has so many more little brushes and real skinny filing sticks. These tools you will find where they have the toy car paints plane paints and trains...I always go crazy in that department because of the tiny things that they have and I can see how you can use so many things with clay LOL... You know those little glass button like things that go in fishtanks? Can't you just paint the flat surface of the back & make eyes that way? I need a way to make eyes realistic as possible, & cheap.
munchchewy0 Do they come in small sizes? I have only seen big ones and the problems I saw with those is there were a lot of little air bubbles and the glass was to thick. So that wouldnt be a good scale for the size doll I make. The thicker the glass is it will magnify way to much and not look like a realistic eye.. If they are the size your wanting and its not to thick you could paint the flat side. I would do a test before I put one in a doll.
+Darrian Verrett Polymer clay is oven baked and yes you can make eyes just fine. No problem... The only thing I would say is that there are cheap brands of polymer clay and to be careful. But experiment and see what works for you.
Heather Bruce Vintage Blue by Recollections this was found in my local craft store Hobby Lobby. Your welcome and there are many other embossing powders you just want the ones with the most sparkle pieces inside the embossing its self.
+TheTealRobin Resin but you have to make sure it can take heat that is if your planning on the head being placed in the oven. You can also use liquid femo gel. I'm not fond of it but many people seem to be okay with it. Just don't use fingernail clear polish. It will eat your clay.
Thank you again :) you're so patient lol. I ill try the liquid sculpty and resin I think and see what I like best. the weather here is never good enough to leave something out to catch the sun..we dont get much sun either..that's ireland for you ;)
+TheTealRobin I've found 'Loctite', I think it's spelt; I've tried it, though I'm impatient, and kept touching it, and my clay had already cracked from me tampering with it, and when it eventually crumbled, it had not dried all the way - though I'm a beginner at the eye-making, so I don't know if this would be durable enough? I haven't got around to re-trying, without being so impatient, hehe. =^.^=
+davdove59 Oui mais l'expérience parce que certaines peintures peuvent changer de couleur lorsqu'il est chauffé. Cela peut être un gros problème avec les peintures .

You can just be aware some brand paints may loose color when baked. Also some colors can react to heat. Always test first before. I no longer cook any doll head with eyes. I make the head hollow and eyes go in last.
Like many people, you are saying "stylist". Three syllables. That is a hairdresser. The tool you are using is a stylus. Pronounced STY -LUS. Two syllables, not 3, and no t on the end. Great work. I do enjoy your videos and are learning from each of them.
I could put those micro brushes to good use -- but I can't find them anywhere but Hobby Lobby, and the shipping charge is very high. If anybody knows of another source, please speak up.
you are very sweet but your videos are too long and you say umm alot which is very distracting, with that being said, i still feel you are very talented. and can get more subscribers if you can work on these two issues, please please dont take offense by my comments, because i really do care and think you are an amazing artist and your desire to share your gifts and talents with us is a true blessing.
I don't at all take you to be offensive. This tutorial was 2years ago and yes nervous and just had a web cam. Was getting the feel of the whole set up. My goal is to only practice and become better always. As for the videos being to long sculpting cannot be shown in 8min and my goal is to share everything possible and will be long or short. How ever it goes. Thank you for trying and leaving your comment. As for subscribers I feel its all moving along with my growth too. We all learn in this together. I share but all of my watchers help me to improve and present myself the best I can in that day and moment. Thank you again for truly being supportive and kind. hugs
Click on cc click on subtitles click on auto translate There you will see all the langages This is all located on your youtube screen right side bottom corner How accurate I can't say. Hope this helps

How wonderful to see you again. So glad the tutorials are moving people in a direction to just do it. Don't ever think you can't.
thank you so much! the tutorial is excellent.
Really beautiful techniques! Thanks for taking the time to do these tutorials! :^) Your eyes are incredible.
Thank you Rebecca for leaving a comment and so glad your enjoying the tutorials.

does the UV gel dry clear and bubble free? I have used clear nail polish and it is full of bubbles and the inside were not cured

I got my UV light at Amazon for like $11.00.
Again your oven sounds to be way to hot or to close to burner. Check out my last comment to you and hope it helps.
Will send you a thank you photo ;)
Yet do not see your last comment, only this one.
Can you bake these after making them? I'm having a hard time finding info on eyes that I can bake with my sculptures.
Very helpful, thank you! :)
Thank you very much! Can you bake these eyes (completed) again in the doll's head or is that too much baking?
Thank you:)
Yes you can with using pastel chalks. If you use acrylic paints beware they can change color when heated. Not all colors do but many do. Always do a test in your oven before putting them in your dolls head. Thank you for watching my tutorials. Enjoy and have fun.

Hope this helped if not let me know. I love having you on my art channel..
Fairysnmypond Thank you! Yeah I noticed these bubbles too. & the back is really uneaven
Clay that is just labeled ' Oven-Bake Clay' - is that just as efficient and durable for doll eyes?
+Darrian Verrett Polymer clay is oven baked and yes you can make eyes just fine. No problem... The only thing I would say is that there are cheap brands of polymer clay and to be careful. But experiment and see what works for you.
hi, whats the name of the embossing glitter that you used???thanks
Heather Bruce Vintage Blue by Recollections this was found in my local craft store Hobby Lobby. Your welcome and there are many other embossing powders you just want the ones with the most sparkle pieces inside the embossing its self.
Hi there. Is there an alternative to the UV gel? me again! lol. sorry for all the questions ;)

, got you, thanks haha
+TheTealRobin I've found 'Loctite', I think it's spelt; I've tried it, though I'm impatient, and kept touching it, and my clay had already cracked from me tampering with it, and when it eventually crumbled, it had not dried all the way - though I'm a beginner at the eye-making, so I don't know if this would be durable enough?

Were do you get the UV gel? And could I use clear Elmer's gel glue instead? I have everything else. Thank you :0)
Elmers glue will not work. Uv gel (magic glos) I buy at my local craft store. If your stores don't carry it then look online lots there.
can you bake it after in a sculpture ?
You can just be aware some brand paints may loose color when baked. Also some colors can react to heat. Always test first before. I no longer cook any doll head with eyes. I make the head hollow and eyes go in last.
Thank you for sharing, but why is the image reversed?
inkspray When I did the tutorial I only had a webcam and for some reason in wanted to stay in a mirror setting. Sorry about that I no longer use it.
Weird. No worries, thanks for sharing!
Like many people, you are saying "stylist". Three syllables. That is a hairdresser. The tool you are using is a stylus. Pronounced STY -LUS. Two syllables, not 3, and no t on the end. Great work. I do enjoy your videos and are learning from each of them.
Thank you
I could put those micro brushes to good use -- but I can't find them anywhere but Hobby Lobby, and the shipping charge is very high. If anybody knows of another source, please speak up.
Have you tried googling Micro dental brushes or just micro brushes? Theres lots...
I've seen the dental brushes, but it's hard to tell how similar they might be to the ones you use.
The dental brushes is what I use and the hobby stores by me carry them in the hobby section. They are easy to find on the internet as well.

Thank you for this, very helpful.
you are very sweet but your videos are too long and you say umm alot which is very distracting, with that being said, i still feel you are very talented. and can get more subscribers if you can work on these two issues, please please dont take offense by my comments, because i really do care and think you are an amazing artist and your desire to share your gifts and talents with us is a true blessing.
Thank you again for truly being supportive and kind. hugs
