  • Painful peroneal tendons often respond very well to taping among other rehab strategies. In this video I use two very common taping methods to support both the peroneal tendon and the medial arch.

    Had SEVERE peroneal tendonitis pain for 'months'! Tried this taping method before succumbing to the dreaded 'specialist visit' and amazingly, had relief immediately... After a month of taping (i'm afraid to stop) the pain is almost completely gone! Thank You !!!

    Instant relief, thank you. I fell 3 months ago and started feeling excruciating pain on my ankle. I’m a student and only work twice a week and after each of my shift the pain is so intense that when I get home I immediately start crying. I’m gonna use this to ease the pain a little bit until my orthotics are ready.

    Great positioning for the tape. I tried another videos tutorial and although it was similar it didn’t relieve the pain for me. This works much better and I’ll be back out running tomorrow morning hopefully. Cheers.

    Very confusing because you keep switching from left leg to right in the middle of taping.

    Can i use this method before a game. Does it help with stability ?

    • @focusrehab
      @focusrehab  10 місяців тому +1

      it is not effective for true stability, and traditional athletic taping would be a better choice. It's helpful for light strains and for neuromotor/proprioceptive feedback when stability is not a major issue. thx for watching!

    Really good instructions for applying K Tape. How do you know if it's peroneal vs achilles vs heal that needs taping since all are in similar areas. Your heal taping video is excellent too.

    • @focusrehab
      @focusrehab  8 місяців тому +1

      thx for watching! if the pain is closer to the outside, around the outer ankle bone (malleolus) or where the tendon attaches towards the side of the midfoot i would try this taping. I've also experimented with 'stacking' multiple tapings for extra support depending on what's needed. good luck!

    I'm confused. Shouldn't I stretch the foot out instead of in during the first piece? I can not tell where the second tape should be started/placed. Wish the video was looking down on foot instead of in front.

    • @focusrehab
      @focusrehab  9 місяців тому +1

      sorry for the angles, i'll work on better views for future videos! It's normal when using this kind of tape to apply it to a muscle/joint in its stretched position rather than when it is shortened, that's why I've pointed my foot inward. It's not a critical factor though, so it's ok to experiment and do what works best for you. good luck!

      @@focusrehab thank you so much for replying. My tape helped pretty well today so I’ll do again tomorrow as it came off during shower. I have a peroneal brevis tear on right foot and it hurts the most when I turn my foot inward. So should I continue to turn my foot in when I tape it? Should it be flexed or pointed? Is there a way to tape so my foot won’t turn in? I really appreciate your time and this video!

    • @burkeselbst1776
      @burkeselbst1776 9 місяців тому +1

      @@carolinehenry3844 glad that helped! this particular tape is too stretchy to really limit how much your foot turns in. you'd have to use a stiffer type of tape (leukotape for example or athletic trainers tape) if you really want to control the motion. generally id suggest staying in a comfortable range when you apply it and use a little more tension or double/triple up your layers for more support. good luck!

  • @thepsychologist8159

    For the first method, why are you taping with an inverted foot? The peroneal tendon supports eversion, so shouldn't the taping be applied to a slightly everted foot?

    • @glamourd
      @glamourd 10 місяців тому +2

      I heard him SAY that the inversion of his foot was for KTape placement and I did not hear him mention to add stretch to the tape's application at that point in the video

    Will this tape stop the peroneal tendon from slipping over the exterior ankle bone? That is what's happening with my ankle. Only been diagnosed rest and exercise so far.

    • @focusrehab
      @focusrehab  Рік тому +5

      the tape isn't strong enough to stop a subluxing tendon, but it CAN help control the motion of the bones to possibly reduce it by limiting how far the bones roll. More likely a more secure brace would be indicated however but consult with a local doc or physio to be sure. Good luck!

      Thanks to both of you! I have the same issue with the sublexing tendon. Fortunately I don’t have much pain but having it slip a hundred times a day is annoying and am worried about long term issues. Doing PT now, mri being scheduled to see what exactly I’m dealing with. Hope yours is better.

      @@adithyasr9607 my initial x-ray showed nothing but the pain and frozen ish feeling was concerning so Dr ordered MRI but I pushed for it. MRI showed a peroneal tear so now I will have a better plan knowing the actual diagnosis. So for me MRI was important.

    Can this help with the tendon popping out of the groove? It sometimes happens during squats. Really don't want to have surgery to fix something like that.

      no my friend. you must go to the doctor. YOu may need surgery before your foot gets worse and causes you a worse incident tearing the other ligaments. Besides, your foot can start turning inward. hopefully doctors can offer you other options to avoid surgery but I am not sure they are effective. Stay well and wishing you the best
