Enjoyed your flosstube today. I know you are proud of Morris, his first project is amazing, and very nice finish by your mom. Your stitching is beautiful. I know you are excited about your upcoming retreat, retreats sound like a lot of fun. Look forward to watching again. Happy Stitching and Happy Beading. ❤😃😀
Thank you so much for your kind comments! Yes, I am really looking forward to my upcoming retreats and can't wait to share more about them! Happy stitching to you as well! ❤️
House of Stitches has been my local needlework shop close to 20 years. Great staff, excellent service, and wonderful inventory. I've got family going to that Nashville race this weekend.
Cruel irony! LOL So funny! Such a sweet story about your son, and I adore the photo of him with his finished project! I also love that it was a family project since Grandma also helped with the finish! Love the Cuckoo bird sampler!
Thank you, Kathy! Always happy when I make someone other than myself laugh 😂 I do love that Maurice's first piece was finished by my mom -- I think many years down the line it'll be something that he treasures. Thank you for watching! And happy stitching!
Great video and beautiful projects! Congratulations to your son for finishing and starting another one. My boys stitched when they were his age too. We still have the Snoopy ornaments, soccer ball ornaments and some other things. My youngest is getting married this October so before we put everything away at Christmas I got all his ornaments plus the Hallmark ones we got each year and gave it to them. They both loved them. Hannah definitely loved her colors in the sampler. She’s a beauty. Old sheep is one of my favorite, doing a red sampler on 56 count too. I found with Legacy linen to use a size 12 or 10 needle, it is a tighter linen to me. You are going to love Hobby House Needleworks, I was there last year for a retreat with Nicola and it was AMAZING! The shop is so much better in person. Enjoy. Happy Stitching
How time flies! I imagine my boys will be getting married before I know it as well! I am loving how Hannah Campbell is coming together -- I've put several more hours into her now -- but she is a challenge. Definitely going to stitch a small here and there to take a break from her. And yes, I am SO excited about going to Hobby House! I can imagine you had a great time there and I can't wait to go! Only 14 months to go! 😂
Omg! Audrey! Maurice is adorable!!! Loved the picture of him showing his fantastic finish!!!! So stinkin cute!!! My Dads name was Morris Richard but always went by Rich…love different names than the common John…Anyhoo, your son is amazing. I’ve only been stitching since 2021 but am still in Aida!!!! Good for him!!! Maybe he can give me a lesson!!! lol! Must be fun for you to have an in-house stitchin buddy….. I’m am slowly making my way through your videos but I do hope your mom joins you someday in a video……she must have some gorgeous finishes with her sewing talent!! ❤❤❤❤
Thanks! Maurice is so much fun and I’m glad he’s shown an interest in this hobby. I hope it continues because I’m not giving it up any time soon! 😅 It would be fun to have mom on someday but she lives far away and is a little camera shy but we’ll see! Thank you so much for watching and for your kind comments. Hope you enjoy the rest and I’ll have a new video in a few weeks 😊
I would suggest using a simple blanket stitch to help contain the fraying on your linen. That tomato bag is awesome 🍅 You might also use a batting to pad your spindle to help make your fabric fit. Your mom going to finish for you? She can do it! Thanks Mom❣ I have the scissor chart I could mail you when I've finished. I'm stitching July Quaker in memory of my hubby. His birthday was the 16th and he passed 13 days after his 54th.
My mom is definitely a big help to me and my finishing needs, that's for sure! There are a few things I'm going to try to do myself, though. And when I mess up I'll send them to her 😂. And you are too kind, Rebecca. I would love to do an exchange of some kind! Thank you. And I am very sorry for your loss but I imagine your July Quaker will turn out beautifully and you will be reminded of your husband every time you look at it ❤️
You are lucky to have a son interested in counted cross stitch. You stitching is beautiful and you sound like you are exited about the retreat. Have fun and tell us all about the retreat.
I use the HATS fabric calculator and then I make a paper template which I then put on the linen to reassure myself I have enough. Helps me pick out frames in the charity shops as well.
Pick up some Fray Check and use it on the edges of your linen. I normally just zig zag mine. Your stories of Morris crack me up, why are you using his book 😂 Amazing stitching on that tiny sampler!
I think I'm going to do a simple whip stitch -- don't know why I didn't think of it before but thank goodness for you guys! And yes, Mo is such a card! 😂
You can easily hand whipstitch the edges of that linen to keep it from fraying. It would only take a few minutes. Also, with respect to your son, remember that most of those reproduction samplers you love were stitched by little children, some even younger than Morris. Maybe Morris would be interested in doing something with some historical significance like that? Also, I am positive there are some HATS samplers and probably others that were stitched by little boys, rather than girls, so maybe he would be particularly interested in those.
I don't know why I didn't think to whipstitch the sides myself but now you and others have suggested it, I think, duh! Thank you! And I have thought about introducing a simple HATS piece to Mo to see if he would be interested in doing a slightly larger piece that was originally done by another child. I'd like to see him finish at least one more small piece so he can get that feeling of satisfaction that comes with completing something but I have found some reproductions that were stitched by 9-year-olds and I think, he could do it too! We'll see! Thank you for watching!
What a whirlwind vaca! How wonderful of your hubby to treat the boys❤❤ and you ❤of course! I so love how involved your boys are! Go Morris💕
Whirlwind for sure and ready for a nap! 😂

Oh my goodness. Where did you grow up that you only had the three channels? We had to have grown up in the same area! Lol
In the boondocks of northern Michigan! lol! Definitely limited what we watched but I didn't know any better at the time 😂
I am working on Hannah Campbell, too! ❤
Whew! I'm a couple more days into it and those over one birds are killing me! It's beautiful, though! Happy stitching!
