When he said that he had scars from every weapon at the front of his body, he implied that he never fled. Also, thank you for reacting to my recommendation!
I think it goes another level deeper. Alexander says he always faces his enemies head on, and has the scars to prove it. No scars on his back because he is an honorable soldier and never flees... but he is metaphorically stabbed in the back when his own men dare to question his leadership and plot to mutiny.
When Alexander told his men what he gave them, it's because there wasn't a single Macedonian in his army that hasn't been elevated by that point in his campaign. Every single soldier was at least a Sergeant in rank, all the way up to generals and governors. He left the command of entire cities to the care of the original troops that followed him from Macedonia, because he trusted them most.
7:34 A general has not personally led his own troops since WW2, and modern Generals wonder why their troops put their faces on their target practice papers.

He was covered in scars. He led a front lines group of shock cavalry, the most dangerous position in the army. Great video mr. Giant once again 👌🏻 I still get emotional when i read or hear his speech, for today's state of Greece. I just hope a true leader will rise in my country once again, his difference is that he was not a politician (with today's sense), he spoke the truth from the bottom of his heart, nobody could deny him that 😓
It could work today. Yes, working paycheck to paycheck would likely not get your blind loyalty, but imagine going from being a beggar on the streets to a big time hedge fund manager in the biggest company in the world because of two men. One took you out of poverty and even made your community more prosperous, and then his son takes over and not only is he doing the same grunt work, he’s also making impossible moves and expands your wealth and influence even further. In that case, yes, I’m sure you’d have a different type of mindset.
The thing about the scars: That's one thing that you have to respect about ancient Emperors/Kings/Leaders, sure they where brutal, but atleast they where in there on the battlefield with the commoners. Ofcourse they had the most well trained soldiers by their side, but they where always in danger and could die in any battle.
Alexander was also like no other. There is a fact about him that I really like. His army needed to build a bridge to cross a river, they started to and Alexander of course joined. But on sunday (saturday ? Don't know exactly) he gave to his men a day of rest. To his man, not to himself. That day he continued to work on the bridge alone. The soldiers, in the afternoon, saw that their emperor was still working and finaly decided to join him.
