    Omg, I'm buying this today. My battery is like 1hr from 100 to 0%, but couldn't afford the 500€ that cost the repair. Thanks for this! Praise the repair :D

    I took my MacBook Pro to apple to get my battery replaced. I knew the price was $199. They said they could not do it, and they replaced my entire 2012 MacBook for with a 2015 MacBook Pro for $199.

      wow you actually serious? because I would definitely pay $200 to have my MBP replaced even if its for an obvious refurb. my MBP has a dead firewire port, which died on day 366 of my warranty, therefor too late.

    • @wr4ak

      not everyones story is as good as yours. rumor has it some request 310 to do the replacement... I'm guessing its all based on their stock

      I had a 2009 27 inch iMac that blew a graphics card in 2011. Apple wouldn't touch it. I found a used graphics card from some obscure company in California and ordered it. The tech (independent Apple Certified) told me it was the hardest repair he had ever done in his 10 years in the business. But, the iMac is still running today. =)

    Anyone know where I can find miscellaneous screws, brackets, and clips for iPhone. I'm trying to complete a fix on a old 5s but I can't find the home button grounding clips or the screws for the home button bracket. iFixit this would be a great way to repurpose dead tech.

    I am having an issue with my Mid-2015 MBP (11,5) and there is a recall for those batteries. They were going to switch it out but it would take 4 weeks. As a DJ I cannot afford that so, i am going to do this swap and upgrade my SSD to 2TB while I am at it. Hope this solution works!

    No need for a special kit, I fixed mine a year ago using a battery replacement from China (AliExpress). The special "battery removal solution" might be regular isopropyl alcohol, at least this is what I applied just like shown in the video and it worked the same.
    The whole repair did cost me only 35 bucks and still works great!

    It's not available in Europe and it can't be shipped on plane because of new regulations :( Can I at least purchase the adhesive remover separately or would acetone do the trick ?

    Once you've already installed your battery... ok, I have a few questions: for how long do you need to recharge your new battery? Is there a long 1rst charge that is a MUST for an extended long life cicle? What is the proper use of your new battery? Where you can leave the battery when is already dead. I suppose you can't throw it in the trashcan. Is there any place where you can leave it without any harm? Thanks from Madrid , Spain! Your videos and your kits are so usefull!

    Kind of a shame that apple would put this much effort to prevent people from replacing a part that originally was EXTREMELY easy to remove with a coin...

  • @maidpretty
    @maidpretty 7 років тому

    Oh, come on guys, just get the battery replacement and use any acetone-based multicomponent solvent. Though I think ethyl acetate based solutions and dimethyl sulfoxide are more effective than acetone for this case.

    there are adhesive removers that does not destroy plastic, so this kit is not the best solution.
