Yes they should, he sold me on mine! I got it in a few years ago when the fretboard was still rosewood, and the body still mahogany. I picked the lightest one, which happened to be coral red, which works better with the garish tortoise pick-guard. She's a beauty, everything works just like Johnny Lee said. I also later got a Sire U5 Marcus Miller short-scale, but the Ibanez TMB100 is more "thumpy". I need a bass amp, been playing through my guitar amps for now, but a good bass amp is wanted, either Fender Rumble or Ampeg Rocket, but I can't decide on speaker size and power. It seems most people recommend getting the higher watt version, but 2 x 10" or 15" speaker...? I love my TMB100, she is purring in my lap as I make this, so time to go - she needs stroking!
I walked into guitar center with a 1000.00 budget to get a bass...I had been eyeing this beautiful fender jazz and another Ibanez...so there I am playing both trying to decide when this young man with his little baby girl walked up to me and to;d me “ before you spend all that money on those expensive basses check out that blue bass over there in the corner on that guitar stand”...I looked over at it and it had a price tag on it that read 199.00...I felt I had to try it just to be polite and I said to myself “go ahead and try it and when he leaves go back to making your decision “...I picked it up plugged it into the amp and started playing it ...I was totally blown away by the sound and the neck and I’m like “this isn’t possible not for this prize”..I played it for about 15 mins and right there and then bought and found the guy with the baby girl and thank him ...I saved a whole lot of money and walked out happy with my new bass guitar.
I don't even play, but I am a bassist at heart and in my dreams. Now, after watching this video a dozen times, and looking at THAT BASS, I think I might have to take the plunge and start learning. At 50+. Srsly.
I'm 45, and became inspired by this intriguing dude called Davie501, and of course also by dear Mr. Johnny Long, whose opinion i value dearly (just watch his other vids, he tells it as it is. No bullshit). My dear Terri, i am riding in the same boat as you. I am saving up to get me a TMB100 Talman (thanks to Mr. Long here...). I am currently learning on an Epiphone Les Paul Jr. Rocksmith addition, tuned to be a bass. I just can't wait to get that bass. Good luck to you Terri. You will enjoy it, and most certainly will not regret it. And a special thanks to you Mr. Johnny Long sir. As always a massive pleasure to be enjoying your videos. 🍻😎👌 Take care, and God Bless you and your family.

@@maualbarran6071 Thank you for the kind words! And what a small world it it! I am related by marriage to the Albarran family, 2 generations here in the US from Mexico! Best wishes to you and of course, best bass lines!
The minute I saw the owl I said to myself, "this man is nuts and I'm going to subscribe if he doesn't otherwise disappoint me." With the exception of that horrible baseball cap, I wish I was your personal friend because you crack me up!
I don't know if you are crazy or not, but I have to thank you... I've been eyeing this bass for a few weeks and looking for the right review, and you sir... You NAILED it. This thing is bananas, and I'm thankful for that! I needed something that was inexpensive but had a versatile and sick sound. You let me know that it's safe to order and I'll likely be super happy with this investment that can travel back and forth across the country for some jams. That was my main goal: A nice bass that will travel easily on the wallet and mind. This may even become my regular gig bass!
Hey, Johhny, this was the first video of yours I watched back when I was looking for reviews of this bass. I was pretty much convinced to buy it after watching you demo it. Now I couldn't be happier with this bass, and I owe it all to you. Thank you sincerely.
Just bought this bass based on your review,..i have a bad heart so I had to leave early but I bought it anyway,..and WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you ARE the man,..i wish every review led me in the direction that you did,...and you can play!!!!!! great stuff,...thanks!
I bought this bass around 1.5 years ago after I saw this video of yours, and I instantly fell in love when I put my hands on it first time. It became my favourite bass to play. Thank you for doing such great videos!
I wonder if this will fill the void I’m feeling that I didn’t buy the Squier jaguar short scale. It was like 2 to 250 and as soon as they stop making it they’re $400 but it had the PJ pick ups and everybody swears by them.
Hey Johnny, thanks for the fun review! I got a TMB100 just before checking you out and you made me realize that I got so much more than what I thought I had.
This guy makes basses sound way better by setting them up with a fresh strings and a super low action. Most people would be surprised at the tone of their own basses by setting a very low action with new strings and not worrying to much about fret buzz. Johnny has alot of fret buzz but it don't matter. That's how you get that piano tone going on. It's all in the right hand. I can make the best neck have fret buzz if I WANT it too... Its all about how hard you play and not caring so much about a little bit of buzz. You the man Mr long
Mr. Long, my wife is wondering why I'm crying and laughing at the same time , sir you are truly a blessing, and hilarious. I've subscribed to your channel, I do hope to meet you one day , maybe to service one of my basses etc., but you are truly a blessing sir , don't stop.
Man, I played one yesterday and I almost pulled out my wallet and bought it. I could not believe all Ibanez was offering for a price point soooooo low. I'm a fender guy through and through, but, when I played that bass I couldn't put it down. Whether fingerstyle, thumping and plucking, harmonics, etc, the bass delivered on every point.
I got curious about bass and decided to walk into my local music shop and just pick up the cheapest bass and practice amp. I knew nothing about bass but after playing it for 3 months now, I KNOW this is a HELL of a deal. I actually got it for $99 due to an incorrect price tag. The salesman was nice enough to honor it and I got myself the natural finish. It's a GORGEOUS bass. And the sounds that come from it are so crisp. Your review was highly entertaining. I love your passion!
Love your review and the enthusiasm you have for the instrument, looking to get this as my first bass, been a guitarist for 11 years and thought I’d take a lesson in humility!
When I saw this video, I quickly ordered my Ibanez Talman Bass (TMB100) in Sea Foam Blue. I don’t think you can order this color anymore in 2020. Glad I made this purchase cause it’s a Fender Killer at a phenomenal price. Its design and sound is exactly how Johnny Lee Long describes it.
It’s hard to go wrong with Ibanez cost effective bass s notice cost effective not cheap when I was just beginning bass I choose a Ibanez 205 five string over a American fender jazz I do not regret my decision and never have it’s carried me through many gigs the money I saved allowed me to get a high end amp no regrets Ever great vid
"That's straight piano yall!" haha I love it I saw one of these at my local music store this weekend in sparkle green and one look was all it took. Played is for 5 minutes and knew. Looked at the price tag and had to buy it. Ibanez hit a home run with thes one.
Just played one of these at Guitar Center today. I want it! Dude, your enthusiasm is contagious. I wouldn't have quit all my bands if any of them had this kind of passion. Watching this, I'm super motivated to just go buy this thing right now and write a hundred new songs.
Wow, this is great! I've played electric and acoustic for over 30 years and have decided to add bass to my repertoire. I just ordered the TMB105 and it's backordered for 6 weeks!!! After watching your video, I can't wait to start playing it! :)
Great review. I was in the music store and must have played that bass for an hour through a markbass amp. Very nice bass at any price...great playing also.

F.A.E bassman What Principatus said. Go with theTalman. I have one and I’ve used mine on live stage and studio session gigs. It cuts through the mix in venues with crappy acoustics and it’s preferred over my MIA Fender Deluxe Precision in the studio where the producer and/or the artist wants an active bass tone. This bass is what I’d consider a nice beginner’s instrument that the novice can grow into when they discover that it’s really an intermediate level in beginners garb.
Whoa dude. You are hilarious, entertaining and simply awesome. On this bass you confirmed my own thoughts. I was trying out the fender p bass (player series) and saw this exact tmb100 on the wall and was like yeah that looks nice but only $200? But then played it and was shocked that it sounded as good if not better than the $800 fender?!?!? Thanks bro keep up the great work

JOHNNY! BUT, after watching this video, I've decided this WILL be my first bass! It's got a beautiful tone, and man, those pickups... And not to mention your personality! You're extremely approachable, funny, and convincing. Any doubt I had in the TMB100 or the bass in general is gone now, you're a seriously cool guy!!! I came to watch this video a second time because I ordered a NEW Yamaha bass and Guitar Center decided they wanted to send me a clearly used one. I'm sending it back and they are gonna send me a factory new, never opened one of these Ibanez. In that same exact Soda Blue color
Me and you play bass in very different ways (you good, me bad) but you've sold it to me dude. It looks amazing anyway but hearing you bless it 🙏 🙌 thank you bro
Haha! I saw this, on paper, & it really did look like the best studio bass for me personally, for the limited budget. Your wonderful review has pushed me over the cliff... I'm getting one. I have a vintage precision, and 24 fret active monstrosity that works ok. I want something I can easily replace if stolen, as I'll be trucking it around different studios and what-not. You got a new subscriber from England today. Stay healthy buddy!
Love love love your attitude man : ) Oh and your playing ain't too shabby either....lol ! Just ordered one from MF.....on sale for $175 ! Had a $25 credit.....so I'm getting it for $150 ! Most of my better pedals cost more than that. I also have the short scale version,(passive) which also sounds amazing......too good to pass up !
Ibanez is a seriously under-rated bass. I looked at a TMB100 at a Music Go Round for $176. It was a funky olive green color but it sounded so good. Man I was so-o-o tempted. There were some tone consistentency issues. I played 5 different ones and they were all a little different in the tone. But it was $176. I can deal with a little tweaking for that price. I myself have 5 Ibanez's. All in the SR style. 375, 405, 505 and 2 - 805's. They are siiiick man. I have a heart issue now though. 'Cuz, I'm in love. That's all I got to say.
Ibanez should pay you for this enthusiastic review

200 dollar bass, but priceless talent
Never a dull moment in this review( smiling)
this man can slap and boy is he wholesome
