    Def Poetry is space of free expression. So he's more flamboyant and open to say things he can't say otherwise. Also, I think the point of this poem is saying minorities need to stop hating on each other. Asians need to stop being racist to blacks and vice versa. I think you should do more research about racism against Asian beyond that Asians are smart and good at math. Not all Asians are middle class, and there are many cases of violence towards Asians that don't get media attention.

    @LeftCoastLester ah, true now that I listened to it again. But same idea and it sounds similar. The point is it's poking fun I believe.

    @theboyaddo He's pretty much being sarcastic throughout the entire thing. His real meaning is that he doesn't think racial slurs should be used. In the way he makes the poem, he's acting like he didn't realize that racial slurs were the "cool" thing to do. Of course they're not, but that's where the sarcasm comes on. :)

    @miyandere nah it's different in the song but mtliendo was asking about the language, not a real language i'm guessing :P

    You can't possibly be serious. Beau Sia slammed Rosie in a brilliant poem called "An Open Letter to All the Rosie O'Donnells" that can be seen right here on UA-cam. Rosie actually apologized PUBLICLY.

    @LeftCoastLester I believe it's from Missy Elliot's song Work It

    @theboyaddo he is talking about how others think it is ok to use racist slurs. It's heavy sarcasm. :)

    wow, @homelesshannah50! you're absolutely right. when a person of a specific ethnic background feels insulted, they should suffer in silence because one or more people of the same ethnic background are ignorant bigots. here i was thinking that everyone has a right to speak out about their negative racial experiences. but thank you, @homelesshannah50, for enlightening me -_-

  • @lowerwoodlandallday
    @lowerwoodlandallday 12 років тому

    If they really are saying it to destroy the negative connotation it seems to me that it should be socially accepted for someone of any race to say the word. Yet black people seem to be quick to violence when someone else says the word, even if it is in the positive connotation that black people have brought it into. Just my two cents I guess...

    the dio dio dio dio thing just represents the racial interpretation of the language that asians speak, I think.

  • @Deepstarr7020
    @Deepstarr7020 12 років тому

    Really? I just see a bunch of civilized poets that can talk amongst one another. Just because the crowd is mostly black doesn't mean violence will ensue if one criticizes black people.

    @mtliendo1 He's just repeating "Daio daio daio dai" I doubt there's any real meaning in those words

    @homelesshannah50 oh, i get it! you're one of those people who skims through a video and then responds with no real idea of what you just watched. why didn't you just say so? :)

    i cant vibe with this. the poet especially marginalizes Northeast, Central, and Southeast Asians who have monolids AND who are mixed with different POC groups. I will check my privilege tho cuz ch*nks isnt commonly used against us Asians, specifically South Asians, without monolids
