Mercenaries Saga was originally a mobile game that was ported to 3DS. It is also available on the Switch as a collection of the first 3 games, and that is the preferred way to obtain it, as it is the ONLY way to play Mercenaries Saga 1 in English.

I think one of the things I enjoy most about Stella glow is that its a tactics rpg where your party is restricted to story only units. The group is small enough to ensure characters don't get overshadowed (hell, not only do named NPCs get their spotlight but so do THE SHOPKEEPERS!) And because the group is small, everyone has their own unique role in battle with their own abilities. Even if the witches stand out more cause of the song mechanic, the rest pull their weight so no one is truly better off benched.
There are english patches for the first two 7th Dragon games. Played them on vita with the GePatch plugin that lets you run both games at native 540p. Looks gorgeous on the OLED screen
7th Dragon I haven't played myself but two friends of mine played it and told me about it on our podcast. The character customization intrigues me but I'm not really into turn based combat. Heroes of Ruin I actually like a lot. Played as the lion guy. One of my podcast friends sang praises for Unchained Blades if I recall! And Code of Princess seemed interesting to me though I never got the chance to play it.
I'm play Popolocrois right now! got it on a great discount on Amazon and it's been really fun! love the japanese dub options too! really cool list, will check the others as well!
I'm proud to say I have all of these in my collection. Except for the Maple Story one. But considering it's something that only just recently got fantranslated, I guess that's excusable.

Now that the eshops down I'm just slowly picking through old game sellers collections trying to find the odd and end games. I found the 3DS Dr.Lotrec game Is it the best? No, is it pokemon each raising monsters ? Sure But I got it for the story, my thought was even though a lot said it was mid it look so pretty complete in box I couldn't say no
7th Dragon III is actually the weakest point of the series, and it was developed in-house at Sega instead of the series' creators, Imageepoch (whose swan song was actually Stella Glow). The first 7th Dragon game on DS was strongly inspired by Etrian Odyssey, minus the map-making feature, and shared the same producer as the first EO game. I do hope that Sega will one day release an officially localized collection of all four 7th Dragon games (7th Dragon 2020 and its direct sequel were released on the PSP).
Still got with me my physical game of 7th Dragon, my digital copy of Stella Glow, my physical copy of Fantasy Life, got Maple Story translated in my hacked 3DS, sold Code of Princess but solved that issue with a “backup” as well got my physical version of Conception 😊
That...isn't the story of Code of Princess...She's trying to reclaim her kingdom that has been destroyed and invaded by an evil empire, of which wants HER for [spoiler reasons]. Along the way she meets a rag tag group of people who also want to take a shot at the evil Empire..with the climax revealing a few plot twists between characters and why everything is happening in-game. But anyway..its a fun and difficult game...if players enjoyed Guardian Heroes back on the Sega Saturn, this is practically a Spiritual Successor to that game.
I bought Code of Princess on Steam. Haven't played it much. I bought Conception II on Vita, a version that was bundled with the CD Soundtrack. I would have never purchased any of my 3DS systems if not for SMT, just sayin'.
@@PikaLink91 I have played them both "in their original forms." Doesn't mean they can't or shouldn't be ported to a new audience or given higher graphical fidelity. Alliance Alive is a 3DS game that was ported. Luigi's Mansion 2 was ported. The Legend of Legacy was ported. Monster Hunter Stories has been ported. There's a long list of 3DS games that have been brought to other consoles.
@@f937rAtlus would re-release the persona Q games, and all of the SMT 3DS titles before they’ll ever think about Stella glow. Point is…I don’t have any faith on in atlus for bringing over stella glow. Let’s move away from the 3DS for moment….why have they not done some form of Growlanser collection re-release for switch and the many many games they’ve published for ps2/psp. My point stands they don’t care about titles they’ve published in the passed outside of Megaton/persona 🤷♂️

Does a game have to be innovative just to warrant playing? Don't get me wrong, if you've played these and don't like them that's one thing but it sounds close minded to write games off because they aren't unique or innovative enough (also going purely by the visuals of like 3 minute segmented clips) When you really love a genre, like SRPGs for example, just having more of a good thing is enough for someone. Like, if i love fire emblem but write off other SRPGs because they don't look as good as FE, i might be shooting myself in the foot and missing out on great games, even if they're not AS good as Fire Emblem.
To add to my previous statement though, I also understand the point of view that time on earth is limited and sometimes you want to spend that time with games you at least think you know you'll love. There's plenty of games I've written off entirely too because I just know they aren't for me.
@@Gorlokk666 I definitely see what you mean, I just feel like publishers are aware of that viewpoint and they are taking advantage of it to sell us mediocre products, leading to stagnation in the genre. None of these games look totally unenjoyable to me, I'm just worried JRPGs won't live up to their full potential if we keep buying anything moderately fun instead of demanding higher quality and innovation. JRPGs of the last decade often feel like mass-produced goods to me, but in the old days, the best JRPGs were true works of art, stuff like the FFIX and FFX that could make you cry, leaving memories that last a lifetime. So it's not mainly low quality games which disappoint me, it's more that a lot of games don't even seem to be aiming for the same targets, those really immersive and emotionally moving experiences I grew up with.

A problem about Return to Popolo Croix whas that in EU it came out only digital unlike physical in NA. Stella Glow meanwhile became Meme Status for its ending which I do not want to spoil here. Meanwhile I am not sure if I should say that Mercenary Saga is really forgotten given that it also got a Switch Part. Meanwhile Conception 2 suffers from the fact that it got even delisted before eShop whas closed because Devs rather wanted the game on Steam.
Stella Glow: "The story is by far the weakest part of the adventure." As someone who played it, I have to disagree. Those who've played it will get what I mean but if you didn't there is an explanation below. There are certain events during chapter 8 that turn the story on its head. Still one of the best executions that I've seen to this day.

I own most of these games, and my only regret is that I never got the DLC for some of them I got code of dragon , and all the steel see you and I have no regrets. It was a good game. As for conception t2 I didn’t get all the DLC. I kind of regret it, but what am I gonna do I have to deal with the grind
hack your 3ds and you can get all DLC, patches, etc. It takes 5 mins, hundreds of youtube tutorials, all you'd need is a SD card really, but im sure your 3ds already has one.

I can't remember for the life of me why I passed on Unchained Blades, and now I'm sad I did cause it looks like something I'd LOVE. My recent interest in first-person dungeon crawlers and my life-long interest in monster tamers would make it *perfect* for me. I wanted to delay modding my main 3DS for as long as possible (I know there's no reason to, I just wanted to), but considering this game seemingly never got a physical release... I might not have any choice if I wanna play it.

I have 7th dragon 3 and stella glow, but i have yet to play them after all these years....
7th dragon is such an easy pick for brief sessions since you dont have to commit to it.
Easy recommend for casually getting into.

Heroes of Ruin is fun but it gets really repetitive near the end. I think a lot of people would have fun with the game but very few would finish it.
Fantasy Life not being on the switch is a crime to humanity.

I can't remember for the life of me why I passed on Unchained Blades, and now I'm sad I did cause it looks like something I'd LOVE. My recent interest in first-person dungeon crawlers and my life-long interest in monster tamers would make it *perfect* for me.
I wanted to delay modding my main 3DS for as long as possible (I know there's no reason to, I just wanted to), but considering this game seemingly never got a physical release... I might not have any choice if I wanna play it.
