  • NEW DELHI: Technology collaboration between the United States and India was among the key takeaways of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent state visit to the U.S. And one of the key tech areas in which both countries have decided to work together is quantum technology. In the 2020-21 budget, India allocated ₹8,000 crore for the national quantum mission (India is only the seventh country to have such a dedicated mission). So what is the technology, the roadmap and what the mission aims at achieving? In this episode of ‘Simply Nitin’, StratNews Global Editor-in-Chief Nitin A. Gokhale explains.

Quantum technology is a subject of immense interest as it is going to influence all the other technologies in various ways. Since you have touched this topic beautifully, please it will be nice if you take up its different aspects in greater depth in your subsequent videos.

As per World Economic Forum 2018 Report, Machines & Robots will handle 52% of current work tasks in next 7-8 yrs. With its huge population, India has to strike a balance between creating jobs, retraining of work force to be made redundant due to automation & keeping pace with modern technology.
Robotics, AI, 3D printing, Quantum technology & microchips will decide future technological giants. India has to invest in higher education & research to keep pace with emerging technologies.
At the same time huge job opportunities also need to be created for teeming millions. Tourism, SMEs, IT, Health, Housing, Apparel & textiles and Value addition industries in agriculture are the sectors which have huge potential of job creation at relatively low investments. Institutions need to be created to provide skilled manpower in these sectors.
Present Indian Govt is rightly addressing all the sectors of economy including defense where Ukraine War has converted modern warfare into no-contact or low-contact war with need to keep huge inventories & domestic production. Political continuity & stability will be the key to India's upward trajectory. Hostile powers will try to disturb this.

Not possible to balance. Unless population decreases there is no way employment to all & have AI as well. There probably need to be a living wage for all people who are unable to find employment.

Thanks a lot. It's not at all boring, rather it's pretty informative. Good to know that India started on Quantum research. We have lost many skilled genius scientists of this area through brain drain. Hopefully, we should be able to retain the others for India.
Nevertheless, it's a good article. Kindly have such videos. Others appear more interested in politics.
If possible, could you please come up with the facts of Manipur,, the role of armed force in tackling/containing the issue and probable solution to this mess. I feel, Govt is not able to think through and waiting for the civil societies to come up and ask for reapply of AFSPA.

I found the presentation to be just buzzwords and regurgitated talking points full of vagueness and inaccuracies. Quantum computing is only faster than traditional computing for certain situations and problems. It is only in specific situations that quantum computers demonstrate what can be called Quantum Advantage.

Indians will talk about quantum computing... ai and drones... while others are actively developing them. Soon, Indians will just buy them off the West... and waste their money.
India is all about applied sciences and applied engineering, if it has any aspirations to lead... it needs to develop a different mindset - and a work ethic that relies on hard work.

We have many scientists who give them best in quantum science,ex Satyendra nath Bose from him we have Bose , -einstine condensate theory.the indian governments not give any things to isro but now isro is a leading space organisation, it's not the government work it's our work also to vote politician who is educated and good , not a corrupt person.
