Yes if you have a low SJT score - it is possible that you are on the reserve list and either dont get a foundation post at all or get one in a town thats very isolated and somewhere you do not want to spend 2 years

How fast do the PLAB 1 seats get booked ?
If I’m getting my medical degree in sometime around june and can open a GMC account only then .
Can I still have a chance to book a seat for PLAB 1 before November? Will that timeframe be enough? As I’ve heard that the seats get booked extremely fast in the beginning of the year .

Do I need to pass that clinical assessment test before applying for FY1 or after? I mean if I apply on august 2021, do I have to complete the clinical assessment test and sjt before that time?
Hi! If you are applying for fy1 in august 2021 which means its for AUg 2022 intake then you need to give the SJT in 2021 Dec/2022 Jan - dates will be set by the UKFPO and your only need to sit the CSA exam in November 2021 if you have graduated medical school before Aug 2020.

Hi, my wife is a US Medical graduate and has passed PLAB examinations. However, she has not done an internship as the US medical degrees do not incorporate an internship in the final year of med school. The internship is rather incorporated into the residency which is done after med school. Does the GMC have any leeway on this?

The last 2024 UKFP guideline state that the deadline of qualification from med school was 3rd October however they want a PLAB1 booking confirmation by 31st August.

You need to sit these after plab 1 during your oriel FY1 application - they are at set times in the year and only offered to you when you apply to FY1

Quick question, Say I was to graduate in Summer 2021. Would I have to start my Oriel application once I have passed both PLAB 1&2 and obtained provisional licence (meaning starting my application in July 2022, to start FY1 in 2023) or can i apply for Oriel in 2021 whilst I'm doing my PLAB 1&2 and start my FY1 in 2022 (if I have passed PLAB and receiving my provisional licence)?
Let me know if that makes sense, because ideally I don't want to wait 2 years from finishing med school before starting FY1

It's the latter - you do the plab 1 and 2 while running through the oriel process in the year after graduation and youd start August 2022

You will have to fulfil the higher english requirement for the application to be successful
Hi, I have missed applying for SJT aug21 and cleared my ilets, plab 1 n plab 2. I've pre-settled status and right work in UK. Any idea if I can do an Internship or observership outside the UKFP on just a provisional license?
Unfortunately on a provisional license I think the only option is to do the fy1 training programme. You might want to chat with the gmc on their website to see if there is any other options. Do let us know if there is an alternative!

You should apply to fy1 and sit the sjt exam to get a fy1 training post. Not sure if there is any other jobs available on a provisional license. You could chat with the gmc on their website see if there are any alternatives

(The options are: I will use this passport for RTW, I will use another passport for RTW evidence, I will provide evidence of my RTW by mail until the deadline) How do you suggest to proceed?
Hi Tugce! This years application has a Yes and No option where is asks you - do you have the right to work?
If you do not have an EU passport ot UK passport and you will not be marrying a person with a righ to work before the deadline mentioned to provide the proof - just select NO and move on - this will not affect your application in any negative way as the right to work was removed for medical jobs - its only to document the status of the applicant

Hello...I am in the exact same situation. I really wanna know if it is possible to be eligible for FY1 if you finish University before 2019. I also finished Uni in 2016 and haven't done internship. I was reading that there is a Clinical assesment exam for people in that situation but I don't know much about it.
Yes there is a CSA exam you will have to do on top of the Plab 1/2 and Sjt to be eligible!

No real exceptions to you since the right to work has been removed - everyone is sort of equal now so all depends on your epm+sjt score but if you watch our latest fy1 vs fy2 video youll get some clarity on the acceptance rate etc!
Advice is to watch all the videos in the fy1 series playlist and you should be good to go! Best of luck!

With a 5-6 month internship in the uk prior to graduating your undergrad degree (MBBS) and also completing Plabs ,Sjt etc can an IMG apply for full registration or you will still get provisional registration and get into foundation training ?

Hi Afiqah! Yes you must sit for the PLAB 1 and 2 + the SJT exam (+- the CSA exam if you graduted 2 years before you will be entering FY1)

@@kcdanna if you graduate this year and apply for the next august entry then you dont have to give csa but if you apply for the year after that then you would. You can apply to eligibility as soon as you graduate medical school. Then do the plab 1 and plab 2 by the deadlines mentioned in the eligibility timeline!

This is a way to bypass the english test yes if your university course meets the gmc requirements and you are able to get a letter stating as such

Hi Yes you can write your plab exams! You will just need to sit an additional osce called the CSA since youve graduated more than 2 years ago! Yes you can apply to Ireland as well but we are sorry we arnt very sure of the details of how to go about that!

As far as im aware you must graduate to sit the PLAB 1 exam and that must be sat before 5th November to qualify for 2021 entry so it might not be possible but please double check with helpdesk@foundationprogramme.nhs.uk

Plab 1 has to be given after graduation - unrelated to intenrship

If you receive GMC provisional registration via the USMLE pathway, do you still have to sit for PLAB 1/2 when applying for FY1 program? Also, if you graduated from MD taught only in english do you have to sit for OET exam?

I am still an undergraduate and in my country final year exams are in December so it would be hard to apply for an FY1 post in the next year so my question could I still enroll in my country's internship which is 2 years btw but with the intention to not complete it and meanwhile prepare oet and plab 1 and 2 and apply in July of next year of my graduation to enroll in the year after for the FY1 ? I hope I have explained my situation clearly 😅
If you do an internship in your country but do not intend to complete it you must still declare it to the UKFPO in your FY1 application and we really dont recommend doing that because this can cause problems and is looked down upon as you made a commitment to the hospital when you signed a contract with them that you intend on breaking - the gmc will take note of such things. You might also become overqualified by the time your FY1 job rolls about depending on the pattern of your countries internship. Best to avoid such a thing.
Oh I see thank u for taking the time to answer .. another thing on mind about SJT test how hard is it and is it easily doable or takes time like plab or oet .. something how much my grades in my college years are important I know it has 50% of the overall evaluation but what if my grades are not that good or I am in a low section between my collegmates ?
@@irwinarmstrong1106 SJT is not a difficult exam if the concepts behind how to answer questions are understood. We will be releasing a video on SJT very very soon (+ a course for all those who want our personal tips!)
As for your university grades, your EPM score will be calculated based on your overall ranking.
So the best way to now increase your total foundation score is to score high in your SJT

Only after you have graduated unless you are doing an EU degree
Good afternoon, I am an IMG and I finish medical school next summer, which is when I will start applying to hopefully get to the FY1 program by 2023. I just got my IELTS results back and I got a minimum of 7.5 in each criterion and an 8.5 overall. After getting those, I went into the UKFPO website and found out that my IELTS should be valid by the time I start FY1 in 2023, which is something I honestly did not notice earlier. It is really hard for me to take the exam again (financial issues). Can this approximate 10 day difference be forgiven for someone with special circumstances? I know that the PDF file for the UKFPO 2023 is not out yet, I'm basing what I'm saying on the 2021 and 2022 ones that are already out and state that we should sit the exam on August 3 or further, and i sat mine on July 2021.Thank you in advance,I hope there is some way I can circumvent this.

Yes you have to sit plab before starting foundation and it can only be sat after graduating so essentially you have to take a gap year!

Yes you can. I'm not sure how they calculate it but they do send in a provisional score based on your current numbers!

Hi Anoop! Its absolutely possible to go through that path with a 4 year gap! The only difference will be that you will have to sit an additional exam to be able to do so - The CSA exam

You can apply to the FY1 programme in this case but you have to sit an additional exam called the CSA exam - its another osce style exam that you have to take in the UK

Yes you can give the PLAB1 after you submit the application for FY1 - that is normally how people go about it and yes now the SJT exam can be sat at home (online) and also in pearson vue centres across the world!
