THE CLASSIC ALGONQUIN COCKTAIL and equally classic Algonquin Hotel | Bar Talk & Cocktails
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 жов 2024
- Located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, just two blocks from Times Square in New York City, sits an iconic hotel, the Algonquin. Over the years the hotel has welcomed a bevy of famous actors, singers, writers and literary personalities...not to mention a 90 year old bartender and official resident cat! In this episode we learn all about the famous hotel and not just 1 but 2 cocktails that were named after it. One made with Rye and one made with Rum. Both different but equally good. If you end up making both of these, let me know in the comments which one you prefer better.
Cheers!

The history lessons are as charming and intriguing as the recipes. Love your content.
Awe.. thanks 😊
The history is what really makes me come back.
Don’t get me wrong the booze is cool, the history is what I get to talk to customers about.
Smashed It Out The Park, again Bruce !
Thanks for tuning in!
Great history alongside an elegant cocktail. Cheers.
Thanks Zachary! Cheers
Hold on, why are there only 36,000 subs. We need to get those numbers up!
Yes Marco we do! Tell your friends and spread the good word. Thanks for tuning in. Cheers
Bruce, you always keep me entertained :) The cocktails are good too.
Hey David thanks! This one was a doozy on the edit for Aaron. Cheers my friend.
Always fun and entertaining! Maybe I’ll try one someday. Don’t drink and drive or you might see blue lights in your rear view! 🚓
The rye version has been an absolute favorite of mine for years. I’ve frequented the Algonquin Hotel when I worked in NYC. Can’t wait to get home and try the rum version. Cheers Bruce! 🥃
Just made it, wicked good.
Hey Vino! Sweet!! After doing the research, I’d love to give the hotel a visit one day. So much history. Cheers my friend!
Bruce is back 😎
I never left! Ha
Thanks for tuning in.
I worked a few private events at the, now marriot hotel. Never knew the history of this building but it always had an air of NYC magic. Bruce, you've got a bottle or two of that!
Cool! Thanks for tuning in. Cheers
I've been looking forward to your treatment of this particular drink....
Hope you enjoyed it! Cheers
😀👍 THANK YOU
You are welcome!
Alright you got me. I live in Algonquin.......Illinois that is. No witty round-tables or hamlets out here unfortunately. But I am sure to make this mighty fine drink, borrow the history, and throw up a few blue lights.. Thanks Bruce, you're the best.
EDIT: "These" mighty fine drinks
Howdy neighbor. I had to see about this drink as I am also in Algonquin. They both sound tasty. Cheers
Love the history of the drinks you feature. Sazerac rye my favorite. Where can I get those blue lights.
Try Amazon!
Looking good Bruce!!
Thanks, I try! Ha
Fun fact: The Zurich home of Tina Turner had in big golden letters "Algonquin" on the gate.
Interesting! Thanks for sharing.
You, sir, are a genuinely engaging and witty host. Great channel.
Thanks Kevin I appreciate the comment. Cheers!
Thanks Bruce. Would like to hear even more of your thoughts on the flavors, smells, and overall experience of drinking the various cocktails you make.
Noted, thanks!
Keep checking back lots more on the way.
Will make them this weekend ✨
Hope ya gave it a go!
@@BarTalkCocktails Hi Bruce! I enjoyed the Rye version pineapple on the side🍍
Great post again, Bruce, but at times you looked a little blue. Feeling okay I pray! ;-)
Doing just fine thanks 😊
Keep checking back lots more on the way. Cheers
I bet the first iteration of The Algonquin would be delicious with Cocchi Americano (or maybe Lilet Blanc).
I’ve made it with Lillet and it works very well with the pineapple 🍍 juice.
Give it a go Andrew!
Great video as always. I love the rye one in winter for some reason. I must try the rum one. "Two Algonquin or not Two Algonquin" ;) Oh PS if looking for great juice try looking for Black River, They have a great Ontario Cranberry (only has pressed cranberries) and quite a few others. I am trying out their Pineapple right now and it is way better then can ones.
Thanks for the tip!
Thanks! Best channel with cocktails!
Thank you for the lovely comment, I try!
BRUCE!!!! Be careful with that light, it gets a little hot!!! I love this video!!! The rye is the only way I've had it, but I can imagine the rum version is awesome!!!! CHEERS!!!!!
Cheers Tim! I was worried about you when you weren’t first this time. Haha
Hope you’re keeping well.
@@BarTalkCocktails Thanks Bruce!!! I was in a car accident last Thursday, and I had to deal with it. But I'm ok....
Oh no! So very sorry to hear this. Hope there wasn’t too much damage! Glad to hear you’re ok.
I've made the Algonquin #1 many times, never heard of the second one....will have to a side by side (or a smash up) at my homebar - The Corner Bar Cheers
Give it a go!
I’ll try the one with the rum today I’ll let you know 🎉
The most lovable man.
Awe thanks 😊
i cried over the cat dying of a broken heart :(
I know! I’m a huge cat lover myself.
@@BarTalkCocktails I mean it's hard not to they're so soft
@@BarTalkCocktails I worked in midtown NYC in the 80's as a Paramedic and loved the old hotels. I never heard of the cat tales but in his honor I will have the rye version and toast his sweet memory.
a 17 minute video? oh yeaaaaah
😎
My to go videos when driving more than 30 minutes 😂
Eyes on the road! Ha
Cheers!
I like this guy, thank you sir for your videos. As a cat lover the cat part left me a little sad.
Thanks for tuning in. I’m also a cat lover and felt the same when I was researching.
Awesome video as always
Thanks for tuning in.
This is brilliant
Glad you enjoyed it!
I don't know, you tell my stammering face why that's so hard to say xD
😂
Now I'm thirsty for a House of Lords Martini, in-'n'-out on toast! I'll take mine with rye, though.
Sounds divine! Cheers
You should have a ranking bored of best and worst
Great idea
Salud🍻
Wtf when did he start using a jigger???
Only the odd time
You make silly jokes...
I sure do.
They both sound great but they couldn't be further apart
Give them both a go and see for yourself. They won’t disappoint.
