    If one can afford medigap, you should go that way. The only reason to go advantage, is you never have to use it. But it’s unlikely to stay that way as you age. IMO

      Young timer, I respectfully disagree. I have many clients in the 1200-3000/mth range that do use their plans, that save lots of money against a medigap plan. A 75 year old male tobacco user is paying well over 400/mth + part B premium + PDP + DHV, and I can put them on an MAPD for $0 premium + Part B premium, where they may spending $1500 total/yr in copays. There is a use for Med Adv and the only people that don’t want to admit that are people that WANT to sell medigap only. The MOOP, in 90+% of cases, will never be reached in a given year.

    • @youngtimer964
      @youngtimer964 3 роки тому

      @@mikescatena5732 well, I said “if you can afford Medigap”. You say that you disagree, but then go into how someone might be able to save $$. To me, that says you are actually in agreement. You also did not address perhaps the biggest concern of more health issues as time goes on. There are a number of other significant benefits of medigap as you know. And for the record, my agent sells both so I’m not biased by their influence (as you seemed to imply).

    Medicaid pays our Medicare Part B premiums which means our Part B premiums are NOT deducted from our monthly Social Security Disability checks. My husband and I are eligible for one of the four Medicare Savings Program, SLMB (Specified Low Income Medicare Beneficiary), which pays our Part B premiums only. Those SSD checks are our only income.

    Retirement is very expensive if you need medical care, devices, etc. on a regular basis. We pay $150 (approx.) for basic Medicare, and another $145 for the advantage part. Plus, we have co-pays on everything. And, many prescription drugs are either not covered at all, or so expensive we can't get them.

    The Optimum Gold Plus Plan in Florida is a viable option for certain areas in Florida. I really don't know how they offer it. 164.10 part b refund. 1900 MOOP, 75 Inpatient Hospital copay (days 1-5). Unfortunately, I don't live in Florida and not found such good terms elsewhere. With 1900 MOOP and almost zero premiums makes it very appealing if you live in their coverage area. You would have to deal with in network and certain medical procedure approvals, but if affordability is an issue the plan is something to consider.

    A question for you. I still pay my Part B even though I live overseas and will only use Medicare if I get massively sick and need to return to the US. Unless that happens, a complete waste of money for decades. So the Part B buyback is perfect. But is there a way I can use it if I no longer have my US address? I could use a relatives but would that be okay? Any suggestions. Seems unfair to pay Part B with no benefit, and even more unfair if I'm blocked from getting a buy back plan. When I go on websites with a zip code field to enter to find buyback plans I realized my problem... no zip... unless I use a relative or friend's. BTW, I am still registered to vote in my home state.

    How can I search for an advantage plan that STATES what my "give back or reduction" amount would be? All I can find is just the non-specific "yes" (there'd be a reduction), even from my current company that is providing it. They aren't saying whether it's different for 2025. Most companies don't address it at all. I went through this last year and it's infuriating.

    - Obviously I need A + B, but which way to go?
    - traditional A + B which costs me $150.00 a month, or
    - should I chose a Medicare Advantage cash back plan which basically pays my part B $150.00 fee every month and leaves me at no cost for A + B?

      It’s not a ripoff, but these brokers on UA-cam would have you think they are. When you’re on traditional Medicare you completely on your own, navigating the healthcare system, hoping that transition from hospital to skilled nursing to home goes smoothly, that you get your prescriptions, that the home care nurse shows up, etc. With a Medicare advantage plan you’ve got a case manager available to you to help you through all of these things. It’s a lot more than just the dollars and schedule of the benefits. Many people don’t realize the wealth of services that are available to support you in your healthcare journey through a Medicare advantage plan. And these brokers evidently are not aware of it either, so they never talk about it.

    • @AbtInsuranceAgency

      This depends on several factors. For example, if you drop a Medigap Plan to enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan for the first time, you have a one year “trial right” to return to Traditional Medicare and to get your old Medigap Plan back. However, in most situations you are locked into your Medicare Advantage Plan for the calendar year and can switch back to Original Medicare either during the Annual Election Period or the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period. I hope this helps!

I printed the claim forms and got my COLA letter ready but what about my 2020 and 2021 reimbursement. Aren’t I owed that too?

    • @lyndayoung8761
      @lyndayoung8761 2 роки тому

      Annually the basic part B Premium is set at an amount. In 2022 it is $170.10. If your 2020 taxes were over $91k if single or over $182k if married filing jointly, Social Secirity will send you a letter telling you that your part B Premium will be higher than the basic premium.
      Because you have had a life changing event (retirement) with a permanently reduced income you can complete a waiver (SSA-44 form) to have your income and Part B premium reassessed (and Part D to by the way)
      Because your 2021 tax will also be high, SS will consider a very accurate, clear estimate of what you expect your 2022 income to be. Call social security for assistance completing the waiver request and your attachment of your estimate of retired income after you have done your estimate.

      You have to check specifically with the insurance carriers in your area to see which offer this benefit. You can also check the summaries of benefits of each plan via our website - abtinsuranceagency.com at FindingPartC.com

      Good idea! It’s a benefit in *certain* Medicare Advantage plans, and, like the Part B giveback, is subject to change each year.

    Joe Namath will take care of you. LOL He guaranteed he would beat Baltimore in Super Bowl III and he did it. He guarantees he will get you all the benefits in the world and do you think he wouldn't? He'll probably personally deliver you free meals and take you to your doctors appointments.
