  • HSP Storm Brushless Short Course Truck - First Look & Binding to FlySky FS-GT3C
    In this video I go over whats included with the HSP Storm Brushless Short Course Truck. I also bind it to a FlySky FS-GT3C Transmitter.
    The truck comes ready to run (RTR) with radio, LiPo battery & charger. I chose not to use the included radio simply because I already have the FS-GT3C which has a rechargeable battery so I won't need to use 8 AA batteries in the included radio.
    Running video will be out tomorrow night!
    Thanks for watching.

      Good stuff mate! It's gonna be fun trying to crack that 100. I played around with my HSP buggy for a bit with the same idea, the magic 100. I wanted to do it with standard electrics but I really think it's not gonna happen unless the motor/esc is upgraded. I must get that one out again and change the gearing to see what I get. I think I got 84kmh on 3s, so I think I could get around 95 just changing the gearing. Always fun to try these things! Oh yeah, get some videos mate, will be great to see. 👍

    Itll be interesting to see the durability of this. Once upon a time, you wouldn't go near a HSP with a 40-foot barge pole. Maybe they got better in the last handful of years. Thanks for sharing.

      I'm actually a day behind on my video editing, so I can let you in on a secret. IT SURVIVED!!! 😂. I've found with HSP's the metal parts seem to fold up on even the slightest impacts. I think they solved that with this one, by not using much metal at all! I didn't go launching it at the skate park, but I didn't baby it either. For the money I'm quite impressed with it but I do wish it was 4wd as it's hard to drive on a loose surface. 👍

    I'll bet it goes like a beauty!
    We have 2 HSP Brontosaurus trucks and they're awesome, never miss a beat and handle etc perfectly, I got ours from Crazy Hobbies in Sydney at a good price too👌.
    It'll be good to see how this goes 👍🦘🇦🇺

      It goes quite well. I drove it today, it goes great for the price and nothing broke. On the slippery surface I ran it on I wished it was 4wd, but I bought it to be a smooth camera car and I think it'll be fine, for now at least.
      The Brontosaurus looks great too. I have a few other trucks to get out too I've been collecting during lockdown.
      Will have the video up in the next day or two! 👍

    This is definitely a newbie question but I'm sure you can give a good reply:
    Is there any sort of rule or compatibility chart or some sort of unspoken rule how radio compatibility works? I got the same transmitter as yours but I'm probably not likely to buy that exact car, but still, how does two brands work together?
    So far I just got that radio but I'm wanting to try other stuff, luckily most transmitters come with a receiver, so it's just one car that i need to use as test dummy...

    • @RCHobbyShed
      @RCHobbyShed  3 роки тому +1

      I don't know of any kind of compatibility chart, sorry. Usually most brands won't work together, for example a Futaba FASST system won't work with other brands even if they also say FASST, as the protocols are different. In the case of this truck I was OK using the FlySky radio with the HSP truck as most (or all) HSP receivers are made by FlySky anyway, just relabeled HSP. Hope this helps! 👍

    What battery replacement or upgrade would you recommend for this exact car

    • @RCHobbyShed
      @RCHobbyShed  3 роки тому

      I often use Gen Ace, 2s 4000mah 45c. It's quite a good replacement for the standard 30c battery. 👍

    Follow up. Truck is fast and I am careful with it. Blew out rear bearing 2nd time out, had some from my other HSP solid axle buggy (good rc). Came back today from running on the road. Rear wheel got some fiber wrapped around the wheel hex. That pulled the whole axle out. I took the hub apart and found that there is no inner bearing ridge for the bearing to sit against. This allowed the bearing to slide way too deep into the hub bore. By now I have enough Chinese junk that I took old bearing apart and used the outer race as a spacer. All good for now. Again I have the 4wd version.

    • @RCHobbyShed
      @RCHobbyShed  3 роки тому

      Not good, Pawel. It is pretty strange that they don't have a ridge for the bearing to seat against, bad design. I've not had any issues with my HSP cars so far (fingers crossed), well no issues that weren't my doing 😂. I've run this one a few times and beaten it pretty hard with no problems, apart from one wheel coming loose after two runs at BMX tracks. I've only had to repair the body from it landing on it's roof off jumps. Hopefully yours will be all good now after your bearing mod.
      Have a Happy New Year!

      @@RCHobbyShed thx, my other hsp buggy is much better quality after replacing bushings!!! in the wheels, softer al shocks and like always better steering servo. back to the sct hsp truck, runs like the wind....when it runs. for me here in indonesia getting parts is a pain so this is bigger problem then if you have access to them since it is part of the hobby. arrma big rock on the way....so now i wait for a bit. thx

      Sorry for my slow reply. The Big Rock will be a beast, think I will get one myself. 👍

    Be careful buying any of these Chinese cars sight unseen, like I did. I just took delivery (Dec 24th 2020) of HSP 4wd sct the pro! version. Well, yes some nice enough AL parts, but the tolerances on all the plastic suspension parts are terrible. There is so much slop, so disappointing. I do have HSP solid axle buggy which is my favourite (after I installed ball bearings in the hubs and rear end, decent servo and some inexpensive Al shocks). I am new to this but got 4 cars now. Again if you don't see it in person I would not recommend buying. For a bit more just get one decent Arrma or whatever brand you prefer. My two cents.

    Looks like some similarities between this and the Kyosho ultima sc (not sc6) it terms of design…

    These are great for the money Mick. I bought a cheap Hsp sc truck a couple of years ago $70 used. Goes well and not a problem with it. Ive tried to kill it and nothing goes wrong. Always been on 3s to, wish I could say the same about some of our expense rcs . Can't go wrong with these Hsp cars , parts and upgrades are everywhere to. I need to replace the esc , it's in my Tamiya f100, couldn't wait to get it going of course. My mates son has my Hsp buggy and still no problems. He loves it and they drive that thing all the time. Good purchase Mick, I bet it's a beast.

    • @RCHobbyShed
      @RCHobbyShed  3 роки тому

      I agree mate, can't beat them for the money. I have a couple I haven't managed to kill yet either. Their metal parts aren't the strongest, but are quite fine if you don't hit anything. I actually drove this one today (video coming soon), it was awesome fun. I do wish it was 4wd though, especially on the slippery pebbles I run on. Still, awesome car for the money! Have a good weekend! 👍
