Good to see a video from you again man! It's been a while! I actually collect antique and vintage electric fans ( as you can see by the videos on my channel lol) and have run into some of the issues you are having with old Westinghouse. First off, that was a really nice find! Really any vintage fan for 25 bucks is a good deal, but a brass bladed multi speed fan with a lot of good original paint for 25 bucks is pretty damn good in my opinion lol!
As for putting a new headwire on it, I wouldn't take it to any old electrical shop to be honest. I would either attempt it myself or send it out to a real antique fan expert. I have removed stators from fans before in the past, usually they are just press fit in and you can very carefully remove them by setting the lip of the case on the open jaws of a vise or something and going around through the screw holes and tapping on the back of the stator. It may bend some of the laminations a bit but I have done it before and it does work. Just have to be really really careful lol! (If you do go this route, hop on amazon or ebay and get yourself some nice cloth covered cord too, it really looks great on old fans like these! )
The other option I can suggest is that you contact a real expert and see what they would charge to rewire the thing for you. One guy I know who does this is Mike Mirin. He has a website with contact info and general information on it called fansofthepast (dot) com ( Didn't want to put a link as sometimes youtube will think it's spam and prevent you from seeing the comment) If for whatever reason he can't help you out or you think it's too expensive, join a couple fan collecting pages on facebook and ask about it. There is going to be at least one person that can help you out there! Hell there might even be someone local to you that can do the rewire for you!
Just a couple of other recommendations that I have are that if you get the stator out, get a can of EL600 clear spray on varnish and give the windings a couple of coats. It's just a good idea to do, especially with something this old lol. Also make sure you clean out all the old grease from the gearbox and repack it with some good fresh stuff. Finally I would take those oil cups off, get some new oil wick from Ebay, and fill it with some nice ZoomSpout oil or 3in1 BLUE CAN oil! ( All the other ones aren't good for fan bearings).
Overall, it seems like a really good find! I think this fan is definitely saveable and seeing as though how it's in great original shape, I think you should get it going again! Much like reviving an engine, it's really satisfying to see these things come back to life again! Hope some of this info was helpful and looking forward to more videos! : )

Shrink wrap the wires. You can get the shrink wrap in the colors of the wires and it will protect them better from the oscillation.

I have the same obsession as you for old things I have a house full. I have a 1919 Model T truck its my baby. I know what you mean by if it doesn't work you don't want to look at it I do the same I will work on something for hours or days and if by a small chance I cant fix it for some ridiculous reason I don't want it 🤣 Keep up the vids. I've watched everyone of them.

Run 2 layers of heat shrink tube over the wires after cleaning off all the old insulation the use clear nail polish on the windings that have bare spots and your fan will be good to go

Just a thought. What is the purpose of the slots in the ring that goes around the windings. You can see them from the front. They look like the slots used to tighten a ring.
