She slayed it, in my opinion. An authentic performance if there ever was one, that game definitely is one of the more emotional and memorable gaming experiences I can recall in recent years and it has a lot to do with her embodiment of the Senua character. Kudos to her! 🤘🏻
Jeurgens deserves whatever the gaming equivalent of an Oscar is. Her performance made me fall in love with Senua as a character. Which was one of the main driving forces of the game as a whole.
@goatlps then it did its job. Part of the experience is that Senua has some mental issues and, since there is no way to get help for it back then, she can't tell what is real or not either. If you felt the same, it means they really portrayed her view perfectly. It's not quite "it was all a dream" because was all real for her.

This is one of the most memorable games I've ever played. For such a small studio they did such an excellent job and Jeurgens was spectacular. I can't wait for the next one.
I love this game to death, and it’s so amazing. I put it in my hall of fame for games. It’s just so good, and heartbreaking. Something I’ve noticed about great games like this is that you’ll never quite get that feeling of playing through it a the first time ever again. It’s like BioShock for me, the game is amazing and I’ll play it over and over, but I can’t ever replicate that first reveal.

I’ve played this game so many times and her performance still moves me to tears. Not just because of my struggles with things, but the raw emotion that was able to creep past my guarded walls and STILL reach me On a level and in a way in which I thought only I understood. It‘s frightening and at the same time so human and authentic, that you can‘t help yourself but be compassionate about Senua (and hopefully about people you maybe meet somewhere, that behave strange, because you never know how people experience their world…).

Ive met people with psychosis and schizophrenia and she portrays them so well. Seeing signs everywhere and questioning what they mean and authenticity. 2nd guessing things they do and wondering if something terrible will happen if they do something like walk in a specific room or walk a certain way home. And the voices they hear apparently are genuinely like that. Putting ideas in your head and telling you things your doing are either right or wrong and they can be extremely convincing. Hellblade is not only a game but its also a portrayal of what mental illness is like for some people. I think its great to enlighten as many people as possible about other ones struggles.

awesome game and you can get it for 2 bucks during sales. It's about 7 hours and is absolutely incredible. Be aware that the game isn't meant for everyone though as it was meant for a pretty niche genre

Everyone knows this. But Ninja Theory perfected mocap long before Malena. They were actually the first video game company to use true mocap. And the Star of that game (called Heavenly Sword) was non other than Andy Serkis.
I only recently heard about this game through a 3 and a half hour look into it's deeper concepts and I sincerely want to get my hands on it the psychosis angle of the story really resonates with me and her voice acting from what I've heard is phenomenal I cannot wait to delve into this game and it's sequel when it comes out
I remember that she had the crew facing away from her when she did scenes for the forst time becasue she was nervous but yeah we can see how it all turned out. Now a sequel is 4months away🎉

Yes, I actually didn’t know that. Because I am big enough of a nerd to watch every single extra after I beat the game. I thought it was cool. That ninja theory took the portrayal of mental illness so seriously. They brought in doctors, and a very decent size group of people who suffered from all kinds of ailments: schizophrenia, mood disorders, psychosis. People who actually had some terrifying hallucinations. And people who would have really beautiful ones at times. Hallucinations are not always scary. I also love that this was the first game I ever saw with a mental health alert at the beginning. I can only imagine how good this sequel is going to be. All I can say is “well played, Microsoft”. This is the first game you have made exclusive that is actually going to drive me to do whatever it takes to get an Xbox just to play it. Even if it was just a timed exclusive, which people swear it is not, I don’t think I would be able to wait. I’ve been waiting long enough.
and now with Unreal engine 5 the game is perfect, gaming technology is becoming hauntingly amazing and Juergens is perfect as Senua...can't wait for the release of HB2
