I’d be tempted to cut the trees down around half a meter or two feet up. Later on you could come back with the bucket on your tractor and then push back and forth on the stump. The higher the stump the more leverage you have. I did this with bigger trees I cut down. I hired a bloke with an excavator to do work on my farm including digging out the stumps. He said the taller stumps gave him a lot more leverage making the removal a lot easier.
I notice the same thing with the rakers and the Stihl sharpener. My thought is that the sharpeners are setup for softwood and not hardwood but I can't say for sure.
