Thank you so much for listening (now watching) to our podcast Lewis! Thank you for the informative reply on the announcers and other UA-cam channels to check out and the development of the Tour of Britain. I did see and very much enjoyed Matt Stephens’ cafe ride with Tadej Pogacar. Thanks again for the comments and I apologize for missing a very good British rider’s birthday yesterday- Ben Turner.

Listened to your podcast from the UK and loved it for years so thought it was time to watch on You Tube. I think the two English commentators were on the RCS World Feed. They were Ned Boulting who is the ITV TdF commentator in UK and part of the Never Strays Far podcast with Dave Millar and Pete Kennaugh. Ned did a daily podcast for NSF from the Giro with his fellow world feed commentator Matt Stephens who is a big cycling media person in UK, works on Eurosport and also has The Cafe Ride You Tube channel and the Sigma Sports Unchained podcast. All worth a listen.
The modern Tour of Britain was started by Sweetspot and after a few years of struggle had a good event running again. At this point British Cycling sent them a letter to say well done but BC owns the rights to the ToB name and you will need to tender to carry on running it. Sweetspot beat off ASO to carry on running the event, but now under licence for BC. So when Sweetspot started the womens race they did not call it the Womens ToB as they didn’t want to hand that over to BC. They called it The Womens Tour. After issues with covid and the Queen’s death which stopped the ToB race mid-event Sweetspot were under serious financial issues and failure to get a sponsor on board and even losing Skoda for race vehicles, meant The Womens Tour failed to take place in 2023 and the company going out of business at the end of last year. So BC have taken away the ToB licence for the race from Sweetspot and taken it in-house with their new events division. BC are now also starting, which is effectively a totally new race, The Tour of Britain Women.
