I can’t believe I can actually do this now! Thank you!
I have made the beautiful brim twice now (as a headband). My notes from the video for others struggling to learn it:
Work brim until approx 20.5 inches long for average woman's head size. This is approx 63 rows, ending on an under cable row. (I think an even row looks great also and lines will match). Size 4 hook. Worsted Weight yarn. EVERY row starts and ends with a half double crochet stitch!
Chain 20 (19 stitches every row)
1) 19 HDC, ch 1, turn
2) 19 HDC, ch 1, turn
3) 1 HDC, front post treble crochet (y.o. 2x) into next 2 front posts. Skip 2 stitches, 1 HDC to secure. Repeat until end. Ch 1 (12 front posts) turn xTTxTTXTTxTTxTTxTTx
4) 19 HDC, ch1, turn
5) Over Cable Row. The 1st set of posts that you work will go to the right, then the 2nd post sets, will go on top, over those posts to the left. Numbers mentioned are counted from the top row right to left.
1 HDC, Front post Double Treble (y.o. 3x) front post 3rd from right then 4th, skip 2, 1 hdc(goes right). Front Post DT 1st post from right, then 2nd post. These go on top over the previous 2 posts you did. Skip 2, 1 HDC (goes left over) . Front post DT 7th, then 8th post from right, skip 2, 1 hdc (goes right) . Front Post DT 5th then 6th post , skip 2, 1 HDC(goes left over prev posts) . Front post DT 11th, then 12th, skip 2, 1 HDC(goes right) . Front post DT 9th, then 10th posts, skip 2, 1 HDC(goes left over). Ch 1
6) 19 HDC, ch 1 turn
7) Under Cable Row, 1 HDC, Front Post Treble (y.o. 2x) into 1st then 2nd, skip 2, 1 HDC. Front Post DT into 5th then 6th post from right, skip 2, 1 HDC. Front Post DT 3rd, then 4th from right. These are under cables, you have to go under 5th and 6th and pull up the loops to work. Skip 2, 1 HDC. Front post DT 9th, then 10th, skip 2, 1 HDC. Front post DT 7th, then 8th, These are under cables, go under 9th and 10th anc pull up to work. Skip 2, 1 HDC. Front Post treble 11th, then 12th posts. Skip 2, 1 HDC.
8) 19 HDC, ch 1, turn
Repeat 4 to 8 until desired length. Rows look like crossed pie crust. If they start not going over and under like that, you have made a mistake of which row you are on.
I really appreciate the time you take to really really show clearly, where the stitches belong.
I know a lot of tutorials try to do that but they don't often explain it as well or show it so clearly.
so thanks! you're really patient about it!
Lovely colors and texture! Thank you for the tutorial!
This is stunning
I love this pattern. It is a beautiful hat. Thank you for your work
Hi, thank you so much for your tutorial, I love it. I'm new at crochet, I picked it up because I like your Santa hat so much💕
I just finished it, I'll be able to wear it at work. I just need to make the pompon and I'm done. I'll check some tutorials for it.
Thank you👍
LOVE THIS!!!
Wow, I love vintage stuff. This is so awesome! Thank you 😊 💕
ohhh wowww!! your video is so clear and easy to understand!! Its so perfect timing too because I already have the aran yarn, I just need to get the red one!! Thanks so much!!
This pattern is beautiful. And pretty easy if you are familiar with cable stitch. thanks for sharing. I’m using a finer yarn for the brim so I added ten stitches. I can’t wait to see the finished project. TFS.
Thanks! Can't wait to finish this and wear it EVERYWHERE this season!
Thank yo so much for that :)
I came across your video on you tube and absolutely fell in love with the vintage look of it! I’ve never done cables before so I was very intimidated; but the way you explained and repeat and go slow I was able to fly through the brim! I am not familiar with linked double crochet stitches so I opted to go another route for the body of the hat but I appreciate the tutorial and your design! Thank you!
WOW!!!! Beautiful and Perfect!
Thank you so very much ❤️☺️
@@ItsNotKnit You are so welcome!!!
Love the hat!!! I thinknim gonna try your pattern for this next Christmas, but will try to make it in the round. Thanks so much!!! Awesome pattern!
Thank you so much! I love it :)
Were you able to figure out how to do this in the round?
Finally figured out how to ldc in the round and finished my hat! Making a matching scarf to go with it. Thank you!
Ever vintage for my 12 days of homemade Christmas gifts thus year. This is beautiful. Excited to make this.
I’m so glad 🙂 , I loved how it turned out and I love how vintage it looks and especially with those classic Father Christmas colors ❤️
So cute!
Thank you ☺️ 😊
What can I say? I love the colors (I have always loved the claret and aran for Christmas items). I love cables. It is always harder for the cable unders but I have been able to do it before. I am going to try this is different sizes and try some simply soft. This is a great tutorial for a beginner and for seasoned crocheters. I like the way you show it so clearly and explain how and why. You kept worrying about the focus but I had no trouble seeing what you were doing. I actually thought the stitches were very clear and close up and the claret was much brighter on camera. I should be able to make two this week when I need a break from my big projects. Thanks once again.
Thank you so much, Rosemary 😊😊, and thank you for letting me know that this was easy to view, I'm using a phone not exactly made for things like this and I'm always worried lol 😊😊😊
Gorgeous!
Thank you so very much 🤗
I’m camped out by the mailbox awaiting its arrival! ❤❤❤
you got it :)
This is honestly so beautiful, not sure how it only has less than 10k views - i made a short of me making mine and credited you! it's a stunner
I want one
Have you been reading my mind!??! I was just thinking yesterday that I want to make a couple of Santa hats for my girlfriend & her husband - to go with your cat ears hats that I'm making for their eight grand children! If you keep this up, we're going to have to postpone Christmas so that I can get everything made! 🥰. I love making cables! Thank you so much for your excellent tutorial!
Lol, thank you, great minds think alike 😊😊
This is gorgeous! ❤
Thank you so much, Pam ❤️☺️
I am working on this hat right now and so far I am loving it. I never did a brim this way and though I was initially intimidated your video was clear and I got through it and the link double crochet. I hope you do more videos. I definitely will be watching
Thank you so much!😊😊 , I love crochet with a passion and I love making tutorials ❤️ , I’m working on one as we speak 😁😁
Omg I love this! I already have a pattern for the vintage stockings so this will make a wonderful addition to them! ❤❤❤
Ooh do you have a link for the stocking please? I can't seem to find them.
It's beautiful. Where could I find a crochet script for it?
I crocheted this Santa hat and I put it in my inventory for sale and the lady bought it for her husband and ordered another one for herself
Beautiful hat ♥️♥️♥️♥️ 22:36 right here there’s a spot where one step is missing, maybe editing issue, maybe it got cut out 🤷🏼♀️ I figured it out but I thought I’d let you know ❤ love the cables
Thank you! 😊
@itsnotknit can a slightly bigger yarn be used? I havent croched before but would love to make mine velvet and those are thicker it seems
Love the inspo for this, that's so cute! do you have any good stitches for smaller accessories like a choker?
No, I would have to come up with something using crochet thread. And thank you 😊😊
Row 5 9:33 & row 7 15:42 … Rows 30:46
Where can I purchase the pattern for this, your Etsy shop is closed
Im sorry , I never made a pattern for this design, I ofetn did not make patterns because it just complicates things for me , Im better working on the fly
Your camera isn't showing any oranges at all
The pattern is very pretty and difficult but you are going to fast ,if your teaching you need go slow.
you can slow the speed down , there is a feature in the gear symbol
I Love this feature @@ItsNotKnit
