21/08/2024. RIP you, Aussie legend. I have been a fan of this great singer for many, many years. After years working with Indigenous peoples in the N T and elsewhere, I was most happy to discover Gurrumul's singing and songs. Peace and blessings to all people from this ole bloke.
I still miss this beautiful man. The humility, the grace, the love, the acceptance of his role in life, the understanding of his culture and respect for his elders, marked this man such a unique and beautiful human being, the one you would love to sit and share a sunset, even though he was totally blind, he lived in this world, but also shared his world with us, and we were blessed for the sharing of it.
This is one of the most intense short documentaries I've ever seen. I discovered Gurrumul several days ago and was completely engrossed into his music. I opened Wikipedia to learn more about him and was deeply sad to learn that he passed away already. I am so glad that some bits of his life were captured through this documentary. My gratitude to everyone involved. Thank you Gurrumul for being here on Earth and for the songs you sang. Wherever you are now - bon voyage.
My Malaysian-Chinese friend had Gurrumul on her playlist. When we spent a week together in Beijing I heard him for the first time and it was ❤ right away ❤
I remember when I first saw him sing, it was on a tv show. I was so awestruck by his beautiful voice. I have never forgotten that moment!❤️. Thanks for sharing❤️✌️
One of a kind. A most beautiful soul. A shining light. This wonderful man was special. His voice will echo down the centuries. We were so blessed to hear him. Love; always. ❤️🌹
Just watched the full movie/doco on Netflix. Amazing. Could see the heart break on his face when his father died.. Only time where one name has been kept alive, so many more people can enjoy his music legacy. Thank you to the Yolnu elders.
Yo compré su CD.en un mercadillo pensando que era un bluesman del Mississippi y cuando lo puse en el automóvil me quedé de piedra es un ángel un enviado que está seguro con el creador
What an amazing man a purity of spirit that saturates his voice and transforms all who hear him into true listeners. They stop and stay in the 'now.just long enough to really hear him through their hearts.
Absolutely beautiful music and such a blessing to humanity he left behind. Thank you for sharing your blessing from God. It helped me thru a difficult time in my life. You were never visually impaired, your music was your vision. Rest in peace. 🙋♀️PP
While I was a big fan of The Killjoys and sad to see Michael Hohnen leave Melbourne in the late 90s (or was that early 2000s?), he did great things bringing Dr. G Yunupingu Into our lives. Such an amazing voice and spirit that will live on as part of our shared history as a nation. While I do not excuse or even try to justify the wrongs of the past, this is a good story of a coming together we should celebrate, but also question why our health care was not able to provide the treatment needed locally, which eventually lead to Dr G's passing, All his albums make me cry even if I do not understand the words. Language and song is a feeling and did we ever need anyone to translate Ca Plane Pour Moi for it to be a hit? RIP Dr G your music is now part of the songline that will take our nation to the next stage, eventually.
His beautiful voice grabbed me the first time I heard it. Thank you for this wonderful contribution. His songs always bring me back to myself. Thank you Gurrumul. 🧡
You can clearly see that Gurrumul knew the British and the Queen would steal his music and money. Just like the British stole his family and country. The British did the same here in Greece and Cyprus. Love from Cyprus Greece to the Indigenous Australians. RIP Gurrumul .🌀🌈👣
Thank you very much for telling his story. At the end there is a version of Biyini that I never heard. Who is the female? Or can we have a link to the original track?
Oh ! Wow ! What a voice ! IWhenever I listen to his music and seeing that he was blind, I cry tears of joy. God blessed him with a superlative voice .His music touched my heart and I pray for him .RIP Gurrumu.
Indeed what a lovely democracy of the whitewashing sytem to try to be nice with their image ; While they sucked their country and pralized culture with their god & human rights manipulations (Business ) .Yes I love the Aborigin culture ,the natives of Australia as I love any pure folk on this lovely PLANET ; which is a earthly HEAVEN but became an Hell of greedy and sneaky reptile suckers ELITE all over the world ... I send all my Love to all Aboriginie folk and soulful Gurummul bra. 🙏🏿 ☀🌈🌧🎶🥀🕊💞🎵🍀🙏🏼
@@milkismurder I'm a white Australian and I definitely don't think making things whiter makes them better, in fact I am very proud of our native indigenous people and I think that making things whiter makes them worse. Have a nice day!😁🙏
The only Indiginous Voice left on earth should have their voices herd and respected and followed in their timing, I'm just a maori what wants what we need,

I grew up in Darwin and have been blessed to be taught by various Indigenous people. Their tribes are very different from each other and diverse.

They totally whitewash his desire to sing his culture’s music
Australia hasn’t figured out yet that making things whiter doesn’t make them better. Give them time.
