Seeing Nicole at the reveal was difficult to see, her intuition and her body reacted to Sam with anxiety. She knew she'd made a mistake but it took a while for her conscious brain to process.
I was judging Nicole so harshly. Your analysis made me completely change my perspective and reminded me to exercise empathy when watching these shows. I actually think I’d be a complete mess if I was on this show. Probably more problematic than Nicole. Thank you for posting ❤

Bliss also didn't give concrete reasons to Zach. I don't get the point of warning someone and then not giving evidence because it's gossiping or sabotaging. Either go all the way in or don't even mention it.
@@joanna0988 It's because it's usually a gut feeling that's often difficult to put into words. Since it's the intuition that is picking up the warning signs the conscious brain often takes a few days or weeks to process the intuition and put reasons together to explain it.
@@katec9893 It's intuition but also there are concrete situations that show that the person is being shitty. In Ben's situation he had at least 2 things he could have told Nicole about Sam being a shady person. Sam saying beggars can't be choosers after Jasmine dumped him and he was left with Nicole. Him freaking out in the lounge that Nicole is fat after she joked that he might not be able to lift her. All he said was "Sam isn't sincere and he's not here for the right reasons". He should have been specific and said everything because Nicole is compassionate and probably thought that Ben was just misreading Sam.
@@joanna0988 I think he was very aware that he could be cast as a villain or gossip if he said specific things about another person in the pods like that. He was anxious and uncomfortable warning her at all because he knew it could be interpreted as him trying to manipulate her into choosing him. I think he handled it as well as he could and thankfully the producers didn't twist the situation to make him look bad.

And while MBTI may not be considered a standard personality test according to psychology's consensus, I think it has the potential to offer truly great insights. Nicole is a people pleaser. she has a lot of empathy, and struggles to see the worst sides of people. She had been striving to stay true and authentic to herself in this experiment. If she admits the relationship with Sam was not real then it means she can't trust her own judgement as It was the same judgement she used when she married which resulted in divorce. Ben wants an acknowledgement that he was right about Sam and saved her. She wants to forget the whole Sam thing as it's a reminder of her mistake, which is uncomfortable for her to acknowledge.
This is a fantastic analysis! I had so much empathy for Nicole. I figured that she was choosing based on previous patterns and trauma, and she was ultimately spooked by Benaiah's lack of commitment when she needed reassurance to feel comfortable. I'm so happy herself and Benaiah have reconciled, they seem so lovely together!
See I think Nicole is flaky and only on the show for fame. She was on another reality show already so maybe Sam and her have more in common than people think.
I love how your opinions are always so well-balanced and respectful but at the same time so on point and not wishy-washy. If a ni-dom (Intj or infj) tells you not to trust someone, you believe them. They may not be able to quote reasons but you should know theyve been gathering information from day one and arrived at a conclusion that is seldom wrong. Also, when the ni-dom is trying to warn you to protect you and you dont believe them, thats like a dagger to their hearts. Im surprised Beniah gave nicole so many choices.
Finally, a video that isn't dramatic and doesn't make fun of our accents. I appreciate how insightful and educational this video is. Really made me look at some things differently.

I know she's apologized for a lot of things but I don't know if she realized that shutting him down when he was trying to talk about his discussion with Sam was a way of dismissing his feelings. This video is an additional tool to help her grow that's why I hope she watches it. So far she and Ben are my favorite couple.

Not me. They seem to be consumed with gossiping about all the others. And she was such a pot stirrer especially when she was badgering Ollie which ended up making him leave in a huff which I don't blame him for.

I don’t think Sam or Nicole are in touch with their gut feeling/intuition. They both are trying to have an experience to redeem themselves in their own minds. Nicole from her failed marriage and Sam from his unsuccessful romantic life. Sam might not be a bad person but he’s so insecure and desperate he hurts people. He needs to learn how to love himself before anyone can love him. The focus on the superficial isn’t helping.
@@Tevin730Based on how he acted on the show I have no doubt that he's the sort of person to string girls along and tell them everything they want to hear. Then if it gets serious he'll be unable to keep up the charade and then eventually leave them after things get tough while telling them it's because they didn't like him enough etc. etc. You can absolutely do a lot of damage by accident if you're desperate and selfish enough. He's clearly in that ball park.

I didn’t understand Nicole’s naïveté although she had been married previously. She comes off like a teenager from an emotional standpoint. What you said was very interesting.
Just because someone has been married before doesn't equate to being experienced with men. Nicole strikes me as someone who's been very sheltered and likely married the first guy she ever seriously dated, so it may make sense that she is not as experienced in spotting the signs as Jasmine is, who mentions her varied dating experiences. It's so surprising when people bring up her previous marriage as proof of her experience. As someone who married their college sweetheart and got divorced 10 years later, in my 30s, I can tell you, I am still feeling the weight of my inexperience in the current dating world. One can't just assume someone is experienced because they were married, especially if you don't know their dating history.

I wonder if Dr Cherie thinks it was manipulation since she never used that term but he clearly love bombed her and asked her to marry him right after Jasmine dumped him. He knew she was in a vulnerable state ( she was crying and showed she was mentally lost) and that's when he chose to ask her to marry him. It's like cults that prey on vulnerable people. They know your exact weakness and use it to their advantage. I find Nicole actually less naive than anyone thinks because as soon as she said yes and they saw each other, she told him she didn't wanna go to Greece and wanted to focus on their relationship outside of the cameras and that's when Sam showed his true colors. So she found a way to make him reveal his true intensions. It took her 2 days to understand that she made a mistake. Zack still went to Mexico to explore his relationship with Irina. I think the pods intensify your feelings and experience. I believe they said that you speed date everyone on the first day and then they ask you who to write down your 2 or 3 favorites and if it matches that's the 2-3 people you will date constantly for the next 2 seeks. I believe Lauren and Cameron said they had 12 to 16 hour dates at some point so you can imagine why Nicole would rather trust her experience of Sam than what other people told her.
@@wittlekikz I don't think her being inexperienced should've been such a factor tbh. I also don't think OP is talking about romantic or sexual experience strictly, because just living life and having a long term relarionship should give you some sort of discernment. As a fellow inexperienced introvert, I found some of her decisions were downright...baffling. As mentioned, the whole asking a conman if he's a conman decision was just bizarre. Does she go around thinking dishonest people are gonna just let her know they're dishonest as long as she asks them directly? I guess it's easy to think this from the outside looking in, but I know that things are so much different when you're caught up in emotions. Either way, Nicole did lack maturity when the show was filming and hopefully she'll grow from this experience and be a bit less naive.

I agree about Benaiah not quoting Sam and just giving the conclusion in terms of his functions. To add to that, I also think Benaiah didn't want to give the specifics of what Sam said because he didn't want Sam's comments to hurt her. Like "I heard his real opinions, he sucks, please just believe me." Because "He's wondering about your weight and after he was rejected by Jasmine, said beggars can't be choosers about you" would SUCK to hear. He was also trying to protect her feelings.
I agree that her response to Ben's concerns was not satisfying. It did come across as dismissive. It would be frustrating for me as well. Hopefully, once she can watch how Sam operates in the background, she will have no choice but to accept a new reality. It may not be one that she is ready for, so I also understand why she's, in a way, protecting Sam and her memories with him. She is not privy to all that information that we have seen. Still, she dismissed her own concerns, Bens and Jasmines. I did wonder how people can operate with that level of denial. Frustrating, though, all around.
I went through something like nicole and sam and it took me so so long to get over it. I always try to look at things from multiple perspectives to understand the situation, but sometimes its hard to tell which of my thoughts are real and which are just me being delulu lol. This is video is so helpful in giving me the clarity i need ❤ its difficult to watch others hate on nicole and sam… Im trying to remind myself to give myself grace and kindness. I enjoyed this one because I felt very close to Benaiah and here is why, he's INFJ too. And there are not many INFJs in these kind of shows, right? Very underrepresented. I felt strongly against Sam, and I would have spoken up as well, just as he did. I appreciated the insight about him not feeling the need to back it up with examples and that not working with Si. I will keep it in mind :)

They have this duality to them I cannot grasp-like good kids hanging out with a wrong crowd. I think they will continue to run into roadblocks because Benaiah likes to confront things head on, and as you mention Nicole avoids difficult feelings or things that make her feel bad

Nevertheless, I've come to understand that there's always a solution to be found. Half a decade ago, my wife and I faced such trials in our marriage that divorce seemed inevitable. Yet, through perseverance and determination, we navigated through the rough waters and emerged stronger, reunited, and more resilient.
There is a lot of sense in what you just said and I hope mine works the same way too, we are currently separated but I cant live without her, I love her so much. wish I can get her back I can do anything to have her back, we have tried therapy amongst other things

Sam makes me sad. He's so painfully insecure and desperate for love. That desire is so strong, too strong for any one person to fulfill. I think he lacks any sense of self worth or concrete identity. He actually reminds me of the incels who latch on to looks because they don't know how to navigate social situations. I hope he steps away from dating and gets into therapy. But more than that, I hope he finds Jesus who can give him the unconditional infinite love he's seeking
He does not make me sad, he’s a jerk and you can see it right away, I take people for face value analyzing people is justifying bad behaviour, I am 60 years old and gave up that trait long ago, leave analysis to the shrinks.

I quite like Benaiah but i felt that his over-protective actions at times came off as a bit of a flag that Benaiah could be potentially a bit controlling. They look quite happy together so maybe that aspect works well in their relationship.
I've lived the fact that ESTJ just don't take advice for their own benefit, they just can't see it... it's frustrating. And they don't look out for other's feelings. ESTJ really need to work on that and be mindful to consider when someone is being truthful to them.

Wow, great analysis! I just came across your channel. I personally thought that Nicole was trying to do damage control by not explaining what happened between her and Sam to Ben, she was embarrassed, hurted and confused by her decision. I get the feeling she felt rejected after wanting to have sex with Sam. She brought up to Ben how intimacy is a sensitive thing for her and that she doesn't want to have sex too quickly.
Apparently didn't happen and couldn't happen because they are not allowed to hang out or meet before arriving in Greece after the reveal. Seems Sam made it up
They both admitted it was a lie at the reunion. I think what happened was Nicole wanted physical comfort from Sam but maybe Sam took it the wrong way or twisted it. Because Nicole was adamant it was a lie, when it was clarified that the physical intimacy Sam was talking about was that she wanted to sleep with him. Physical intimacy is a broad term, Nicole probably did not think it meant trying to sleep with him until after watching the series back and realizing that's what Sam meant which she called out as a lie at the reunion and he agreed it was.
Sam had major incel energy. All the women were interchangeable to him, he didn't like any of them in particular, and just went after the ones that he thought liked him, because he just wants someone to like him (which is understandable as a human, just not okay to use people as a means to an end rather than a end in themselves)
Same. I can see why he's drawn to her. He can tell that she's a genuinely good and sweet person, just like he can tell that Sam is duplicitous and insincere. But we're a very sensitive type, and can't keep sharing our love, loyalty, and uncanny insight just to be punished and unappreciated. It's like Sam is saying, "Trust me," and Nicole's response is "I do." Meanwhile Beniah is saying, "Trust me," and her response is, "I don't want to talk about it anymore." Beniah deserves better.
But Beniah didn't give her assurance.when she asked, he didn't immediately give her the firm answer she needed. She was foolish to fall for Sam,but I feel had Beniah immediately "claimed" her, she would have pushed Sam aside.

Great video and analysis, thanks for making it! I do feel like at the end you are being a bit harsh on Nicole. You mentioned that Nicole should be more mindful of Ben's feelings, which I agree but I do think what Ben does with his Fe about warning Nicole takes away some of her autonomy which is why she clings even more to the view that Sam isn't that bad. I think Ben really wants Nicole to agree with him because of what he has said, which while might be objectively true I think that he undercuts her experience with Sam. To me, it seems like Ben wants to be told that he was right about the whole situation all along but I am not sure if he gives her the space to make this mistake and come to this realization herself. I think Nicole knows what Sam is, but it is always harder to admit someone else was right when they are constantly trying to say that they (Ben) knew better than you (Nicole) did.
Ahhhh yes, concluding with NI, but not giving concrete details (SE) to support the intuitive conclusion... Feeling seen here! One of my growing edges as someone with the INFJ stack lmao. I get really stressed having to explain the details/concrete evidence, not because I don't have any, but because it's a LOT of evidence that my brain picks up on and condenses down very fast. I get overwhelmed by the evidence. Probably trauma, as I would get punished and gaslit for communicating concrete things to my family growing up. A lot of my childhood and adult trauma involves people dismissing or even attacking me when I provide concrete details, so now, the fear of reliving that trauma exhausts me. The older I get, the more I realize that, as long as people are desiring the concrete details in good faith, that it is a reasonable ask and *very necessary* to take time to relay the evidence. I am learning to keep NI statements and conclusions for myself/share with trusted folks and folks who trust me/save it for art and poetry (lol), and to be more upfront about SE stuff in supportive environments. I can use NI in unsafe spaces silently to take action, but no need to announce a conclusion! Not using my SE and TI to communicate has meant that I'm more prone to being seen as a paranoid, cryptic, or dramatic to people who don't know me or can't see the situation themselves. I've also been on the receiving end of high NI warnings that included no concrete evidence in the statement. It is annoying, but since I'm an INFJ, I don't dismiss pattern recognition, so I used the warning to move slowly and observe the person/situation for concrete evidence myself. These days, if I am too flustered or too overwhelmed to provide concrete evidence I try to stick to at least one observation instead of feeling like I need to share ALL OF THEM and tell people to go slow (ex: "this person confessed to looking at wedding rings after the first date i had with them. I suggest moving slowly with this person" or "tread lightly with this org and see what you notice" rather than be super alarmist and vague ("STAY AWAY!!!"). I also just have to have the boundary with myself that I can't be in relationship with someone who doesn't seek evidence or believe evidence that is given to them. It is painful. I recently broke up with someone who would reject evidence, just rode on pure NE ("but what about all the possibilities?" in a burning building), no sensing, rejected embodiment constantly, etc. (Embodiment is difficult for me, but I don't hate it, just takes more intention). Beniah and Nicole's relationship holds a good mirror to remind me the ways that I stay in unsatisfying relationships: I can get stuck in needing to help someone "see" why a situation is bad, rather than picking partners who have a good relationship with reality and their gut. Instead of using my insight to make decisions about who I want to be with, I historically have use my insight to rescue others or "make" someone see (codependency). And I see Beniah doing this as well. My ex would constantly ignore reality and I would feel shame and like I was a "downer" for noticing the reality of a situation, rather than just exiting the relationship.
also, the irony of Nicole seeing Sam as misunderstood, even though his actions speak for themselves, while she seems to not understand Benaiah or the situation she has with Sam at all.
I feel like she saw the signs but ignored them and didn't know how to say no and change her mind. I mean it's hard to do that on a TV show. I feel like after their last convo she mightve wanted to take it back then during the reveal the red flags were screaming. The things he said were sorta manipulative. This one really made me sad she deserves so much better and he literally said that too.
I was thinking the same. He comes across as being 13 years old mentally. Like you can tell there is something very much not genuine… he is like a child lying to his parents to get something out of them.
If someone wants to hear everyone’s facts but primarily trusts their own interpretation of those facts, would that be an Se/Ni pair? Or is that more related to Fe/Ti?
S and N is what’s is being observed. T and F is how the observation are interpreted. Both Ti and Te are capable of surveying and drawing their own conclusions.

Sam was Sam, and it was clear he grew up in total insecurity and someone who hasn't developed the maturity to start adulting because of said insecurities. And a BIG question...does anyone get creeped out by Benoiah? He totally used Nicole and Sam's insecurities to play find a way in by playing the hero in a situation he continued to fuel...coincidence? And why did Nicole feel a stronger emotional to Sam, trusting her gut? Cos he was actually been real to his own detriment and does speak without thinking. He thinks he's being cool with the comments he makes and what says what he thinks people want to hear. He hasn't developed the ability to filter thos. Plus he is still confused about who he is and truly put the pain of his past behind him. Sam isn't evolved as a person to consciously manipulate whereas Benoiah is. And one more question: did Benoiah question any of the other guys who said disrespectful things about the girls in banter??
I see the functions you see Dr Cherie but in a different order. Nicole strikes me as more of an Ne Fi Te Si. I think Ne is her hero that’s why she was able to move on from Benaiah so quickly especially seeing the clip of how strongly they connected at the reunion I think it was uncharacteristic of a Te hero to give up so easily on someone they have such a strong connection with. Especially since Nicole’s goal was love not marriage. So I see her being a bit unskilled with Te than it being her hero. It’s giving child Te with Fi parent. Also she didn’t seem like Fi was her weakness. She seems so confident in her Fi that it has to be higher in her functional stack. I understand that we get better at our fourth functions as we get older but they still tire us out. I don’t see Nicole trying to form a life around that Fi function because that would be exhausting and terrifying if it really is her 4th function. A corporate job would be a dream for a Te hero. It would be very uncharacteristic of them to leave that familiarity to be a nomad with Benaiah which is what her Fi desires.
Another thing is I see many seeing Nicole as dismissing Benaiah’s feeling when it came to his warning of Sam but once again it’s the way Benaiah presented it. Very Fe of him to say, Sam was saying this about you and that about you. Instead of saying that Sam said some nasty about someone I love and it really hurt my feelings. So Nicole responds by reassuring him that she’s fine. Once again her very confident parent Fi says don’t worry about what Sam says or who Sam says I am. I know who I am. So she missed the mark of reassuring Benaiah because she didn’t understand what Benaiah was saying. I’m not blaming Benaiah by the way. As Dr Cherie has pointed out it’s just them not understanding each other’s functions. Though I am comforted to see that when they came back for the reunion Nicole seems to finally understand how much Benaiah was hurting by the things Sam said about her.
The reunion redeemed Nicole. She finally saw Sam the way everyone else did. I really liked this season, the people were real.
I'm so glad she finally took the kid gloves off in addressing Sam and gave Ben credit for protecting her.
LOVED that you brought up Benaiah’s feeling in this!!!! He had such good instincts when it came to Sam. It made me so angry for Benaiah when they spoke. Sam makes my skin crawl.
I doubt it was instinct so much as it was seeing Sam 24/7 for a week and a half, Ben was seeing things behind the scenes 😅

Seeing Nicole at the reveal was difficult to see, her intuition and her body reacted to Sam with anxiety. She knew she'd made a mistake but it took a while for her conscious brain to process.

That's very similar to the Zack,Irina, Bliss situation, Bliss tried to warn him as well about Irina but he didn't listen and regretted it in the end.
Bliss also didn't give concrete reasons to Zach. I don't get the point of warning someone and then not giving evidence because it's gossiping or sabotaging. Either go all the way in or don't even mention it.
@@joanna0988 It's because it's usually a gut feeling that's often difficult to put into words. Since it's the intuition that is picking up the warning signs the conscious brain often takes a few days or weeks to process the intuition and put reasons together to explain it.
@@katec9893 It's intuition but also there are concrete situations that show that the person is being shitty. In Ben's situation he had at least 2 things he could have told Nicole about Sam being a shady person. Sam saying beggars can't be choosers after Jasmine dumped him and he was left with Nicole. Him freaking out in the lounge that Nicole is fat after she joked that he might not be able to lift her. All he said was "Sam isn't sincere and he's not here for the right reasons". He should have been specific and said everything because Nicole is compassionate and probably thought that Ben was just misreading Sam.
@@joanna0988 I think he was very aware that he could be cast as a villain or gossip if he said specific things about another person in the pods like that. He was anxious and uncomfortable warning her at all because he knew it could be interpreted as him trying to manipulate her into choosing him. I think he handled it as well as he could and thankfully the producers didn't twist the situation to make him look bad.

Nicole is a people pleaser. she has a lot of empathy, and struggles to see the worst sides of people. She had been striving to stay true and authentic to herself in this experiment. If she admits the relationship with Sam was not real then it means she can't trust her own judgement as It was the same judgement she used when she married which resulted in divorce.
Ben wants an acknowledgement that he was right about Sam and saved her. She wants to forget the whole Sam thing as it's a reminder of her mistake, which is uncomfortable for her to acknowledge.

This is a fantastic analysis! I had so much empathy for Nicole. I figured that she was choosing based on previous patterns and trauma, and she was ultimately spooked by Benaiah's lack of commitment when she needed reassurance to feel comfortable. I'm so happy herself and Benaiah have reconciled, they seem so lovely together!
See I think Nicole is flaky and only on the show for fame. She was on another reality show already so maybe Sam and her have more in common than people think.

If a ni-dom (Intj or infj) tells you not to trust someone, you believe them. They may not be able to quote reasons but you should know theyve been gathering information from day one and arrived at a conclusion that is seldom wrong. Also, when the ni-dom is trying to warn you to protect you and you dont believe them, thats like a dagger to their hearts. Im surprised Beniah gave nicole so many choices.

Yeah. I truly hope Nicole watched this video and apologizes to Ben for being so dismissive of his feelings. He was very gracious in the way he handled that. I would've been extremely frustrated and that would have caused real tension between us for sure.

I know she's apologized for a lot of things but I don't know if she realized that shutting him down when he was trying to talk about his discussion with Sam was a way of dismissing his feelings. I don’t think Sam or Nicole are in touch with their gut feeling/intuition. They both are trying to have an experience to redeem themselves in their own minds. Nicole from her failed marriage and Sam from his unsuccessful romantic life.
Sam might not be a bad person but he’s so insecure and desperate he hurts people. He needs to learn how to love himself before anyone can love him. The focus on the superficial isn’t helping.

He's clearly in that ball park.

I didn’t understand Nicole’s naïveté although she had been married previously. She comes off like a teenager from an emotional standpoint. What you said was very interesting.
Just because someone has been married before doesn't equate to being experienced with men. Nicole strikes me as someone who's been very sheltered and likely married the first guy she ever seriously dated, so it may make sense that she is not as experienced in spotting the signs as Jasmine is, who mentions her varied dating experiences.
It's so surprising when people bring up her previous marriage as proof of her experience. As someone who married their college sweetheart and got divorced 10 years later, in my 30s, I can tell you, I am still feeling the weight of my inexperience in the current dating world. One can't just assume someone is experienced because they were married, especially if you don't know their dating history.

I wonder if Dr Cherie thinks it was manipulation since she never used that term but he clearly love bombed her and asked her to marry him right after Jasmine dumped him. He knew she was in a vulnerable state ( she was crying and showed she was mentally lost) and that's when he chose to ask her to marry him.
It's like cults that prey on vulnerable people. They know your exact weakness and use it to their advantage.
I find Nicole actually less naive than anyone thinks because as soon as she said yes and they saw each other, she told him she didn't wanna go to Greece and wanted to focus on their relationship outside of the cameras and that's when Sam showed his true colors. So she found a way to make him reveal his true intensions.
It took her 2 days to understand that she made a mistake. Zack still went to Mexico to explore his relationship with Irina.
I think the pods intensify your feelings and experience. I believe they said that you speed date everyone on the first day and then they ask you who to write down your 2 or 3 favorites and if it matches that's the 2-3 people you will date constantly for the next 2 seeks.
I believe Lauren and Cameron said they had 12 to 16 hour dates at some point so you can imagine why Nicole would rather trust her experience of Sam than what other people told her.

I also don't think OP is talking about romantic or sexual experience strictly, because just living life and having a long term relarionship should give you some sort of discernment. As a fellow inexperienced introvert, I found some of her decisions were downright...baffling. As mentioned, the whole asking a conman if he's a conman decision was just bizarre. Does she go around thinking dishonest people are gonna just let her know they're dishonest as long as she asks them directly? I guess it's easy to think this from the outside looking in, but I know that things are so much different when you're caught up in emotions. Either way, Nicole did lack maturity when the show was filming and hopefully she'll grow from this experience and be a bit less naive.

I agree about Benaiah not quoting Sam and just giving the conclusion in terms of his functions. To add to that, I also think Benaiah didn't want to give the specifics of what Sam said because he didn't want Sam's comments to hurt her. Like "I heard his real opinions, he sucks, please just believe me." Because "He's wondering about your weight and after he was rejected by Jasmine, said beggars can't be choosers about you" would SUCK to hear. He was also trying to protect her feelings.

I agree that her response to Ben's concerns was not satisfying. It did come across as dismissive. It would be frustrating for me as well. Hopefully, once she can watch how Sam operates in the background, she will have no choice but to accept a new reality. It may not be one that she is ready for, so I also understand why she's, in a way, protecting Sam and her memories with him. She is not privy to all that information that we have seen. Still, she dismissed her own concerns, Bens and Jasmines. I did wonder how people can operate with that level of denial. Frustrating, though, all around.

I went through something like nicole and sam and it took me so so long to get over it. I always try to look at things from multiple perspectives to understand the situation, but sometimes its hard to tell which of my thoughts are real and which are just me being delulu lol. This is video is so helpful in giving me the clarity i need ❤ its difficult to watch others hate on nicole and sam… Im trying to remind myself to give myself grace and kindness. I enjoyed this one because I felt very close to Benaiah and here is why, he's INFJ too. And there are not many INFJs in these kind of shows, right? Very underrepresented. I felt strongly against Sam, and I would have spoken up as well, just as he did. I appreciated the insight about him not feeling the need to back it up with examples and that not working with Si. I will keep it in mind :)

They have this duality to them I cannot grasp-like good kids hanging out with a wrong crowd. Such an incisive and thoughtful analysis. The insights about making decisions solely with your inferior function is helpful for understanding Nicole's actions - and more generally. I think they will continue to run into roadblocks because Benaiah likes to confront things head on, and as you mention Nicole avoids difficult feelings or things that make her feel bad

Nevertheless, I've come to understand that there's always a solution to be found. Half a decade ago, my wife and I faced such trials in our marriage that divorce seemed inevitable. Yet, through perseverance and determination, we navigated through the rough waters and emerged stronger, reunited, and more resilient.
There is a lot of sense in what you just said and I hope mine works the same way too, we are currently separated but I cant live without her, I love her so much. wish I can get her back I can do anything to have her back, we have tried therapy amongst other things

Sam makes me sad. He's so painfully insecure and desperate for love. That desire is so strong, too strong for any one person to fulfill. I think he lacks any sense of self worth or concrete identity.
He actually reminds me of the incels who latch on to looks because they don't know how to navigate social situations. I hope he steps away from dating and gets into therapy. But more than that, I hope he finds Jesus who can give him the unconditional infinite love he's seeking

I've lived the fact that ESTJ just don't take advice for their own benefit, they just can't see it... it's frustrating. And they don't look out for other's feelings. ESTJ really need to work on that and be mindful to consider when someone is being truthful to them.

Unfortunately I can’t recommend any self tests available at the moment that provide enough objectivity to give accurate, reliable results. They often only reflect back what people already think of themselves, or who people want to be.

Wow, great analysis! I just came across your channel. I personally thought that Nicole was trying to do damage control by not explaining what happened between her and Sam to Ben, she was embarrassed, hurted and confused by her decision. I get the feeling she felt rejected after wanting to have sex with Sam. She brought up to Ben how intimacy is a sensitive thing for her and that she doesn't want to have sex too quickly.
Apparently didn't happen and couldn't happen because they are not allowed to hang out or meet before arriving in Greece after the reveal. Seems Sam made it up
They both admitted it was a lie at the reunion. I think what happened was Nicole wanted physical comfort from Sam but maybe Sam took it the wrong way or twisted it. Because Nicole was adamant it was a lie, when it was clarified that the physical intimacy Sam was talking about was that she wanted to sleep with him. Physical intimacy is a broad term, Nicole probably did not think it meant trying to sleep with him until after watching the series back and realizing that's what Sam meant which she called out as a lie at the reunion and he agreed it was.
Sam had major incel energy. All the women were interchangeable to him, he didn't like any of them in particular, and just went after the ones that he thought liked him, because he just wants someone to like him (which is understandable as a human, just not okay to use people as a means to an end rather than a end in themselves)

I have the exact same personality stack as Beniah, I honestly couldn't date a person like Nicole. Shes just not sensitive and understanding enough.
Same. I can see why he's drawn to her. He can tell that she's a genuinely good and sweet person, just like he can tell that Sam is duplicitous and insincere. But we're a very sensitive type, and can't keep sharing our love, loyalty, and uncanny insight just to be punished and unappreciated. It's like Sam is saying, "Trust me," and Nicole's response is "I do." Meanwhile Beniah is saying, "Trust me," and her response is, "I don't want to talk about it anymore." Beniah deserves better.
I agree you have to be deep, I am very sensitive and it makes me very observant, I see things other people don’t see
But Beniah didn't give her assurance.when she asked, he didn't immediately give her the firm answer she needed. She was foolish to fall for Sam,but I feel had Beniah immediately "claimed" her, she would have pushed Sam aside.

I do feel like at the end you are being a bit harsh on Nicole. You mentioned that Nicole should be more mindful of Ben's feelings, which I agree but I do think what Ben does with his Fe about warning Nicole takes away some of her autonomy which is why she clings even more to the view that Sam isn't that bad. I think Ben really wants Nicole to agree with him because of what he has said, which while might be objectively true I think that he undercuts her experience with Sam. To me, it seems like Ben wants to be told that he was right about the whole situation all along but I am not sure if he gives her the space to make this mistake and come to this realization herself.
I think Nicole knows what Sam is, but it is always harder to admit someone else was right when they are constantly trying to say that they (Ben) knew better than you (Nicole) did.
Ahhhh yes, concluding with NI, but not giving concrete details (SE) to support the intuitive conclusion... Feeling seen here! One of my growing edges as someone with the INFJ stack lmao. I get really stressed having to explain the details/concrete evidence, not because I don't have any, but because it's a LOT of evidence that my brain picks up on and condenses down very fast. I get overwhelmed by the evidence. Probably trauma, as I would get punished and gaslit for communicating concrete things to my family growing up. A lot of my childhood and adult trauma involves people dismissing or even attacking me when I provide concrete details, so now, the fear of reliving that trauma exhausts me. The older I get, the more I realize that, as long as people are desiring the concrete details in good faith, that it is a reasonable ask and *very necessary* to take time to relay the evidence. I am learning to keep NI statements and conclusions for myself/share with trusted folks and folks who trust me/save it for art and poetry (lol), and to be more upfront about SE stuff in supportive environments. I can use NI in unsafe spaces silently to take action, but no need to announce a conclusion! Not using my SE and TI to communicate has meant that I'm more prone to being seen as a paranoid, cryptic, or dramatic to people who don't know me or can't see the situation themselves. I've also been on the receiving end of high NI warnings that included no concrete evidence in the statement. It is annoying, but since I'm an INFJ, I don't dismiss pattern recognition, so I used the warning to move slowly and observe the person/situation for concrete evidence myself. These days, if I am too flustered or too overwhelmed to provide concrete evidence I try to stick to at least one observation instead of feeling like I need to share ALL OF THEM and tell people to go slow (ex: "this person confessed to looking at wedding rings after the first date i had with them. I suggest moving slowly with this person" or "tread lightly with this org and see what you notice" rather than be super alarmist and vague ("STAY AWAY!!!").
I also just have to have the boundary with myself that I can't be in relationship with someone who doesn't seek evidence or believe evidence that is given to them. It is painful. I recently broke up with someone who would reject evidence, just rode on pure NE ("but what about all the possibilities?" in a burning building), no sensing, rejected embodiment constantly, etc. (Embodiment is difficult for me, but I don't hate it, just takes more intention). Beniah and Nicole's relationship holds a good mirror to remind me the ways that I stay in unsatisfying relationships: I can get stuck in needing to help someone "see" why a situation is bad, rather than picking partners who have a good relationship with reality and their gut. Instead of using my insight to make decisions about who I want to be with, I historically have use my insight to rescue others or "make" someone see (codependency). And I see Beniah doing this as well. My ex would constantly ignore reality and I would feel shame and like I was a "downer" for noticing the reality of a situation, rather than just exiting the relationship.
also, the irony of Nicole seeing Sam as misunderstood, even though his actions speak for themselves, while she seems to not understand Benaiah or the situation she has with Sam at all.
I feel like she saw the signs but ignored them and didn't know how to say no and change her mind. I mean it's hard to do that on a TV show. I feel like after their last convo she mightve wanted to take it back then during the reveal the red flags were screaming. The things he said were sorta manipulative. This one really made me sad she deserves so much better and he literally said that too.

I was thinking the same. He comes across as being 13 years old mentally. Like you can tell there is something very much not genuine… he is like a child lying to his parents to get something out of them.

S and N is what’s is being observed. T and F is how the observation are interpreted. Both Ti and Te are capable of surveying and drawing their own conclusions.

Ugh! I have been in Nicole's place and trusting and forgiving. What a shame!
Sam was Sam, and it was clear he grew up in total insecurity and someone who hasn't developed the maturity to start adulting because of said insecurities.
And a BIG question...does anyone get creeped out by Benoiah? He totally used Nicole and Sam's insecurities to play find a way in by playing the hero in a situation he continued to fuel...coincidence?
And why did Nicole feel a stronger emotional to Sam, trusting her gut? Cos he was actually been real to his own detriment and does speak without thinking. He thinks he's being cool with the comments he makes and what says what he thinks people want to hear. He hasn't developed the ability to filter thos. Plus he is still confused about who he is and truly put the pain of his past behind him. Sam isn't evolved as a person to consciously manipulate whereas Benoiah is. And one more question: did Benoiah question any of the other guys who said disrespectful things about the girls in banter??
I see the functions you see Dr Cherie but in a different order. Nicole strikes me as more of an Ne Fi Te Si. I think Ne is her hero that’s why she was able to move on from Benaiah so quickly especially seeing the clip of how strongly they connected at the reunion I think it was uncharacteristic of a Te hero to give up so easily on someone they have such a strong connection with. Especially since Nicole’s goal was love not marriage. So I see her being a bit unskilled with Te than it being her hero. It’s giving child Te with Fi parent. Also she didn’t seem like Fi was her weakness. She seems so confident in her Fi that it has to be higher in her functional stack. I understand that we get better at our fourth functions as we get older but they still tire us out. I don’t see Nicole trying to form a life around that Fi function because that would be exhausting and terrifying if it really is her 4th function. A corporate job would be a dream for a Te hero. It would be very uncharacteristic of them to leave that familiarity to be a nomad with Benaiah which is what her Fi desires.
Another thing is I see many seeing Nicole as dismissing Benaiah’s feeling when it came to his warning of Sam but once again it’s the way Benaiah presented it. Very Fe of him to say, Sam was saying this about you and that about you. Instead of saying that Sam said some nasty about someone I love and it really hurt my feelings. So Nicole responds by reassuring him that she’s fine. Once again her very confident parent Fi says don’t worry about what Sam says or who Sam says I am. I know who I am. So she missed the mark of reassuring Benaiah because she didn’t understand what Benaiah was saying. I’m not blaming Benaiah by the way. As Dr Cherie has pointed out it’s just them not understanding each other’s functions. Though I am comforted to see that when they came back for the reunion Nicole seems to finally understand how much Benaiah was hurting by the things Sam said about her.
