    it's a real shame that Ted didn't win more titles. his strong point was his length, but it was also his weakness, he suffered almost every year from back-problems, without those pains he could take on any man. '92 was the only injury free year for him.

      He shouldn't have won this title. He "cheated" on the Axe Hold by bending his arms. In the last 10+ seconds he was bending his arms. By the time he dropped the Axe, his arms were almost 45 degrees. ALL the other competitors held their arms perfectly straight, as you're supposed to do. Really bad refereeing won Ted this title. He was good, but he should have come second. No discussion. Today he would have been disqualified.

      I’m glad Ted won too. His life hasn’t t been easy since this. Hopefully the best so yet to come for him.

    At 5:55 You can see Jon Pall. He died just a few months after this video clip, in January of 1993.

    I used to be a house mover for a few years and found that if you hold the weight above your waist it becomes a lot easier to carry. I'm only a small guy but with that technique i could carry a Fridge by myself comfortably. You can try it for yourself, grab something heavy, hold and carry it above your waist. You'll find its much easier than letting it sit in your arms.

    the grand prize for WSM other than sponsers is 40,000 a small price compared to even the lowest payed NFL or NBA star but they still bitch about not enough money. strongmen and powerlifters train and diet twice as hard as a NFL player which shows real passion for this. it just goes to show we are not in this for fame or cash but for something much more valuable to stand up and say I AM THE STRONGEST!!!

    Seriously though ... the Axe Hold was such bullshit. I'm not taking it away from Ted, but his bent his arms for the last 10 seconds, and today that would have been disqualified and even back then it SHOULD have been disqualification. Magnus should have taken this title, and it's not because Magnus messed up the stone carry that Ted won. It is because Ted had his arms bent on the Axe Hold. He was the only competitor that "cheated" on the Axe Hold. No way he could have beaten Jamie or Magnus if he had kept his arms straight.

      Sounds like a fair point. But I don't think he cheated, but I think the judge didn't do his job. Also, the axe hold with such long arms must be a less than ideal event for him.

    • @TheVanillatech
      @TheVanillatech 4 роки тому

      @@madsleonardholvik3040 He didn't CHEAT per se, but his arms dropped to a disqualified angle far before the whistle was blown and by the end they were practically bent over. If the rules had been followed by the contestent and judge, Magnus would have had 5 wins. Did you watch the footage? It's on YT.

    it's seem that you are a "very intalligent" person....
    they didn't compete for the toy truck.
    they compete for the honor "the world's strongest man." the truck is just an object but the honor is divine.
    any real sports man ain't going to a competition for the trophy. he's going there for the win.

    Me, as a Dutchman, feel Disgusted by Ted winning the wsm title by the husafell carry, because I think he didn't did enough to earn that title especially not by winning that husafell carry in that mix, and because I hate dutchmen knowing they are less valuable then the noble Icelanders: i just didn't know what happened and why, but I believe Magnus should've had won that year...
