This applies equally well to my Peugeot 406, both footwells were olympic swimming pools. Wish I'd watched this first as I had by this time removed both seats and centre console only to realise how much work was still needed to fully remove the carpet from all the ancillary electrics, substantial dash supports bolted to the centre tunnel, Airbag ECU, Traction control ECU... Jeez stuff this! Cut my losses and just wondered how on earth I was going to keep the footwells dry in the future (my drain holes are clear, there are two, located in the scuttle next to the A pillars). I am too much of an idiot ever to think of things as simple as Smart Price long grain. So SIMPLE!!! WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT!!! Writing this July 2020 on furlough so plenty of time for the carpets and foam to air and dry out fully before I rice bag the footwell to shit. I am very grateful to you for taking the time and trouble to make this video. That final fifth that was doing my head in was all here in this video.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This video saved my life in the aftermath of my internal car leak...once I get the car out the shop and begin the drying process this tip is literally going to save me a ton of money...Thank you so much...
this literally saved my floor. The car got flooded same as you and despite spending hours with a wet vac the carpet just would not dry. I pulled the carpet and foam up and used the wet vac both under and on the foam and left to dry. It was dry within a few hours.
Also another option if its just the front floor insulation/padding you can just cut it out and hang it up to dry and just put it back in when its dry. Cutting it makes it wayyyyyyyyy easier and you know for sure that its dry.
Alot of people don't realize the fact that the insulation under the carpet is where the real issues are, that stuff takes forrrrrrrrrever to dry. Someone mentioned putting a dehumidifier in their car
Hi, i know this video is 5 years old but any tips on removing the wiper or even better a vide guide? I have heard its a bit fiddly and there is likely a technique to taking it off.
Thanks for the video. Sorry to suggest that wood chip cat litter is a good alternative to save having to use time and energy on hair driers. I'm at a loss to locating my source of the leak. I've sealed my sun roof and around the internal seals of the door. There were even some small gaps in the top corners of the front window where it looked like the window seal had come away. I couldn't remember if there were there when I bought the car when it wasn't leaking but I've sealed them as well. I thought it might be the drain holes but I get fresh moisture along the edges of both sun visors despite having sealed the sun roof. The aerial comes out at the back of the Clio so it's not here either. Any ideas?
I know that this post is years old but it may still be the sunroof that is leaking. When you say you sealed it did you mean from the top/outside on roof? or did you take the sunroof out totally and the headlining to remove the 'frame' that the glass sits in? it might be that the actual seal has perished and needs replacing, we are hopefully going to tackle this on my daughters Clio. She also has ingress on front door pillars inside and the sun visors were mouldy [as well as a wet drivers floor] you can hear sloshing when it has rained so we seem to think [and good old google!] that this is the issue. hope this helps.
If you are certain you have located and fixed the source of your link there is an even easier and far less hassle free way to dry out your carpet. Purchase wood chip cat litter from your local supermarket. It's about £4 for 10litres and a plastic cat poo scoop for 75p. Pour a good thick layer of the cat litter over your wet floor and trample down. Leave overnight and you will be shocked at how much moisture it will absorb. Scoop it out and repeat the process until the new wood chip doesn't appear to be absorbing anymore. Use the internal heaters to dry any residual moisture which will make vacuuming the remaining dust left from scooping out a piece of cake. Not to say using using this method of separating the overlay from the foam underlay isn't a good idea as this will help the process of drying the foam but it still works without doing so. My problem is I thought I'd fixed my leak but I'm all out of ideas on where it's still coming in!!!!
Mel Lyle I know it's a year late, but it's probably your Heater Core! They can corrode and leak, and it drives people nuts thinking it's external water, but it's coming from inside the car!

+videomasters2468 Glad it helped! Don't forget to unblock the pipe if you haven't already.
Hey for anyone wondering! There is a drain plug under the car depending on the side the flood is (it is rubber and is easy to pull out)
I put the foam part in the spin dryer - worked a treat
Fantastic video dude i have a clio which leaks too, very informative, Thumbs up

Great video. What did you use to dry at 10:49?
ASDA boil in the bag rice (unboiled!)
@@collegefreaks2000 Thanks

I'm going to try that thanks a mil
Nice work special thanks from india dear.
Good information, Thank you!!
Thank you. Useful vid.
Hello, same problem with the flooding here, can you please share/leave a contact in order to figure out how to remove windscreen wipers? Thank you
Does the back carpet has foam ?
No it doesn't
I tried to do that but i can't take the wiper blades out. Any tip for removing it?
You need to get a wiper pulley remover.
Pull out the foam and throw it away. Difference is negligible..

‘How to easily...do anything? If the vid is 17mins long...it ain’t easy enough for me.
Probably best you take it to a Stealer to help you then. £££
So fucking clear voice
