Beautiful powerful song, amazing arrangement. This song has a timeless power and freshness to it. Will always give me chills hearing it. The real thing. Great talents taken too soon
Still can't believe that Johnny is gone. Took so many lessons with him in early nineties at Boy's Harbor. Always a character and always a consummate teacher and performer. Legendary days at Gonzalez y Gonzalez. A true master that is missed.
Yes, she regularly graced the stage with Johnny at Gonzalez Y Gonzalez along with the fantastic Karen Joseph. Unforgettable sets, I know i will never forget them.
Jillian you have me with chills up and down. Your professional jazzy singing has me going nuts. That band is hotter than a firecracker in July. TY Jillian and may you rest in heaven with the good Lord.
I see some comments 8 yrs old. LOS JOVENES DEL BARRIO treated you very well at GONZALEZ Y GONZALEZ in NYC during the 90s. I saw 100s of you applauding the band and dancing without really spending. They should have charged some of you freeloaders a cover fee. I saw "dance schools" with dozens of novice dancers flooding the floor and getting drinks from the bathroom sink. Now , no one remembers LOS JOVENES DEL BARRIO. Well, I m no fair weather freeloading friend. I still appreciate and love their sound. Show some respect and keep LOS JOVENES DEL BARRIO alive & well online. TY Milton for your very gracious dnload!!!! Eddie NYC 2018.
This is the 10th time that I ve played this classic. Jillian , I saw you in person many a time. Now, I m missing you more than ever. Long live LOS JOVENES DEL BARRIO!!!!! Eddie 2/6/18 Bronx NY
I see that no one has commented in as much as 8 yrs. Well, here I am. JOVENES DEL BARRIO 4 ever!!!!! That fugazy Gonzalez and Gonzalez club with the midnite closings did nothing to promote Johnny s career. Now , he has disappeared after Jillian s demise and we only have our CDs and these videos to remember them by.
I remember when we saw this on Jazz Central...we were so excited, especially since during those days you could hardly hear any Salsa on TV, radio or elsewhere. We had to shop around to hear it, or even get a glimpse of it. fortunately for us, we always seemed to manage to stay in touch with the roots and find the music we grew up with. Love los Jovenes del Barrio, con Johnny Almendra and Jillian they were an amazing band.
Are you kidding?? There are dozens of salsa clubs in NYC & they ve always been there for those who support the music. The radio is full of salsa songs, although some of it is salsa monga. The days of Symphony Sid and 15 minutes of salsa ended during the 60s thank goodness.
Anyone please confirm is the men on baby bass is Joe Santiago. I'm not sure at 100%.
Jill and Johnny would fill up the GONZALEZ Y GONZALEZ bar/restaurant on Wednesday nites during the 1990s. There were plenty of apprentice dancers there with their instructors practicing their steps. Now in 2022 I don t see any new comments .I still remember the place being packed because there was no admission fee. They should have charged to get in. Then LOS JOVENES DEL BARRIO would have been more appreciated.
CD is call "Evolucionando", you should be able to get this item through amazon. The original release was approx. in 1995-96. Good luck. By the way, don't believe everything Eddie says.
loving this song forever, dan dan dan da da
That's my sister singing. I miss her so, so much!
