It's actually quite sad how much I adore these guys. I know Deak left for a bit but I'ts amazing he came back. They're one of the few bands (imo) where neither member could be replaced.
I learned this song for 8 hours to play for my girlfriend on an open mic night. This is one of my favorite animal collective songs and has the fullness of my feelings and crush high confusion for this girl. I played it for her and all she said was, 'that songs not for me, it's for my sister' because her sister had purple hair. Crushed. Avey is an inspiration though. AnCo really opened up the way an electric guitar and music in general can be played and sang. Where did that crush high go?
Balling Like Choji I originally only had tickets for the first night but the power went out before animal Collective took stage. So I got Tix for night 2. And then went ahead and got Tix for night 3 (which they ended up releasing a live album of). Great shows though!
Best show ive ever been to. Seen them twice at merriweather but this show was the best. So much energy. "Meet you in Baltimore, laughing so loud!!!!" They make me so happy
Ohman! This set is pretty much identical the their Bonnaroo set just a few days after this :))) So happy I came across this. Panda can fucking smack those drums, boy! Panda Bear on kit with Deakin on guitar, dude. You don't get this at every AnCo show. Nothing beats the ENERGY of this lineup. Absolutely unreal. I'm getting a contact high just from thinking bout that incredible night on the farm. Centipede HZ tour was fucking sick.
That is so cool! I would absolutely love to see them live. Same with Radiohead. I've heard Radiohead live is akin to a religious experience, minus the whole making people want to kill one another indiscriminately.
No this live performance is trash. They went too far out out on an improv limb with this one. To the point where it's an incoherent mess where nothing sounds good to the ear, just a bunch of noise and wacky screams. Two thumbs down
Robert Bitsilly I thought he said "I've got to keep to the kingdom so the devil can't do me no harm" he says this in another live version I have watched too, any idea why he uses this phase?
Avey sings his fucking heart out... Truly inspiring to see this footage.
Every "WHOOOO" from the crowd near the end of the song is absolutely transcendent
Oh to be in this crowd.... begging to hear this on the next tour. I got the keyyyysss to the kingdommmm and the devil cant do me no harm. GOLD.

@@donniesmidway - keep looking, man! You’ll find the one who will let you tell them, “you are the purple in me.”
@@donniesmidway Thank you for sharing brother. We all have been there. ANCO music is the only consistent thing in this life :)
I WAS HERE. HOLY SHIT WHY DID I JUST NOW LOOK THIS UP! I lived in Montgomery County just outside of dc and my friend invited me at the last minute.

The band AND the crowd brought it for this! Holy sh*t!

I'm just glad that other people are enjoying it as much as me!
From the angle this was shot at Deakin looks like a giant!

Still one of their best songs in my opinion :)
That is what I am fucking talking about! Look at that crowd! When I saw them, the crowd was lame. How can you not rage to AC?

What the fuck! How did I miss this show!!!!!?????
They are coming back to DC on the upcoming tour.
+Poto Cai Cai already got my ticket and I'm excited!
The vocals are so fucking amazing in this version. God bless Avey :)
they played this as their last song in Tempe, AZ on Tuesday, it was amazing. The crowd went insane.
What is with this energy? It's arresting. Sadly, I've never attended a show but this is really interesting.
I've seen them twice now and both times were incredible. Probably the best live act I've experienced outside of Radiohead.

is this the one from the live record?
i cant quite it seems slightly different
It was from the previous night, same venue.
Haha I think Dave says, "I got the key to the kingdom and the Devil can't me no harm, fuck the Devil!"
WASHINGTON PHILLIPS
"I'VE GOT THE KEY TO THE KINGDOM"
A good reference Avey says

+Pappa Chimp look up Washington Phillips keys to the kingdom on youtube
+Poto Cai Cai Sure, but I wonder why he decided to include it in this song particularly. Does it have any sort of meaning in relation to the song?
Me too!
I really want that hi hat chekere
