I must have been confused as I thought the analyst was saying the ET9 would do 1.5k a month. NIO building a factory in Africa to circumvent EU tariffs.
Not going to work how yall think. You have to learn the differences between a bullish market bullish catalyst on newer EVS is what shot all EVS up. That sentiment is gone and has been for years. NOW it's all based on the company selling vehicles and becoming profitable.
@ that we also invented that in the meantime, as i speak for myself 2021 investor. Apart from that, car sales may start fire flying then. It’s not that it’s a small company in its industry. But i have patience, and i admit that i and others probably invested too enthusiastically in 2021, without much diversifaction
Firefky is the type of car that you have the first look and is like a "meh", because of high expectattions. But when you look at it more and more, you start to like it. Then thinking about the price point. Very affordable car, convenient, practical, fun, ... to drive in a city. Thumbs up !
The more I see this car, the more I find myself liking it. A pearl white finish with dark tinted windows would look amazing, and adding some ski racks would make it even better. What do y'all think?
The firefly is cool 😎, my wife who doesn't like DIY messing around with cables etc and she definitely doesn't want to break a nail or get wet or cold doing it, so firefly will be a bonus on the driveway for me and mine 😎🇬🇧, I do think if battery swaps where drive through same as picking your McDonald's up etc then kids/young drivers are going to love it 🇬🇧😎
Spoke with an old time mechanic today "Now that car manufacturers have tied the life of a car to the life of it's electric battery". NIO has their "Killer App" = the battery is swap-able and the battery is disconnected from the battery. Even in the future a ten year old used NIO car can still have a good and new battery. The same which cannot be said for nearly every other electric car on the marketplace.
That doesn't mean anything. An analyst is only an educated assumption. Analysts have missed many things and still do daily in many different cimpanies.
Giving 2 analysts giving 2 different guidance with 1.5K monthly and 50K expectations delivery for 2025. I personally prefer none of these idiots giving any guidance but Nio share price is extremely undervalue at the moment, I would be happy to take 1.5K monthly guidance. Because it set up for Firefly to blow away their guidance.
Since thee initial shock of seeing ff the more i see it the more i can see it selling well it's quirky type of modernism the kids or young adult will like as it stands out from some of the others.
I totally agree with your analysis, have been in China for the last 10 days traveling from Shanghai down to Kunming in the south, from what I have seen I now think Onvo, firefly and ET9 are well thought out strategically. The ET9 for showing Nio as a status symbol. Onvo as a poor man’s Nio and firefly for the small car that has funky lights which there seems to be a market for here.
The critics shall name one - just one - car than will be able to keep up with that genius small Firefly car. There is none. There should be an AWD version though also (like the FIAT Panda). Very important for markets like Switzerland, Norway, Sweden etc.
Sales points for firefly should be established in urban locations where most of the targetted users live and where battery swap is a strong alternative to underprovided number of charging points.
In China it is a huge opportunity, based on the price point, the size of the car, obvious Class A or Sector A, first time buyer, female buyer, second car, etc. I read this week that the UK does not charge import tariffs for Chinese Electric Cars, so the Firefly could be coming here, it's possible, I live in the UK. The Renault 5 is coming back to the roads in 2025. Very important car. Likely the Firefly is actually a superior car than the Renault 5.
Concerned about firefly swap station. I think firefly will not release new model so often. It's much better if they can design the station together with Onvo and instead of having other brand, just put it under Onvo. Not really sure the future strategic behind this special brand. Because if they keep 2 swap stations model, it's not so easy to enter new country.
I have been saying this for a while now. It seems like a very bad business decision to decide to build out an entirely unique swap station eco system JUST for Firefly. It would have been a much better idea to standardize batteries and Swap stations for all models. Obviously Firefly needs a smaller battery but they could have engineered a smaller battery size into existing Nio / Onvo Swap Station infrastructure. Making universal Swap stations is the only model that makes sense. Afterall, you don't have to go to a specific gas station to get gas. Could you imagine how stupid it would be if you had to fill up at ONLY Shell stations or ONLY BP stations depending on your type of vehicle?
@davedavycrocket yeah, they must have their own reason and agenda which we don't see it. Maximum utilization for firefly swap station is the key, for example it's used by other car brands. But this is hard since other brands don't want to admit battery swap is good, even if they do they may go to CATL battery swap which is not a competitor for the car brand. As for now we can just see the step they will go in the future.
I would love to buy a Firefly if it came to Europe but I don't see how you see it being priced under 25K ? BYD Dolphin goes for 100k RMB in China, but in Europe its about 29K EUR. So the Firefly which is 150K RMB would probably be around 32-35k+ ?

Let’s not forget the option of the car potentially being offered as a hybrid (in countries outside of China with little to no charging infrastructure).
Yes. Swapping takes 3 minutes. The fastest superchargers today still take >15 minutes for 10% - 80%. Even if supercharging improves in the next 10 years to cut it to 7-10 minutes, battery swapping is still faster. Additionally there are physical and economic limitations to faster charging. You spoke of new technology: Exactly, only with swapping are you able to benefit to make use of latest battery technology, which you can simply swap in, once available.
Firefly sis nice car. It will definitely be successful if NIO builds battery swap stations and brings a good BaaS offering for customers (and NIO) which has a couple of free swaps within it.
One of the questions for Nio has to always be...when will they be able to come to USA. Can this Firefly be the one that breaks the ice? Battery swapping nonetheless is, has to be a challenge if they stick to that platform. If they punt, its coming. "Then the stock should get on fire and fly high"
I am sure that space beatween wheels could be adjusted to fit standard NIO battery. That would be practical and wiae if they have allread 3000 plus swap stations. To make entirely different size knowing how much coats you building swapping infrastructure is bad managment....

It’s still too early to determine the success of the firefly. The key to its success is battery swap and price. The fact that they cannot use the existing nio network will mean that users can only enjoy the benefits in the future. The good thing is that their price is affordable. I hope the car has all the promises of a smart car - assisted driving capabilities, in car entertainment and safety features
So... when are we going to talk about the unique swap station infrastructure that Firefly will require??? It seems like a very bad business decision to decide to build out an entirely unique swap station eco system JUST for Firefly. It would have been a much better idea to standardize batteries and Swap stations for all models. Obviously Firefly needs a smaller battery but they could have engineered a smaller battery size into existing Nio / Onvo Swap Station infrastructure. No, I think you misunderstood the article. The title literally says “Deutsche Bank Expects Firefly to sell Only 1.5k units/months citing unique exterior design”. They also said they believe the et9 will sell 1.5k monthly units as well, but they made it very clear that they believe firefly will only get 1.5k in sells. This is why reading is very fundamental.
😂 Deutsche bank market analysts shouldn't smoke weed in the office. How on the earth they projected only 1.5k Firefly vehicles in one month if this brand targets the largest segment of customers? I can only call them "manipulators"!
All they can do is guess .....it's predicting the Future, no one knows how many people will buy a particular car or what global events may have a positive or negative affect
Not a fan of the Trio headlights of FireFly. Not often I would have the off put feelings of a healmdlights on a product. Definitely a feature not easy to make it "negative" but NIO managed to do so. To me, the headlights are a mistake. There was a rendering that was floating around before the actual release. Had it been similar to those headlights it would have a much more general market appeal. It profounds me on why NIO would choose to limit the mass market appeal on a product that is meant to be for a mass market. The general product has a lot of positives but unnecessarily created a feature that brings a negative sentiment is mind boggling to me. It is like saying, the vehicle is almost perfect for the segment, let's make it a little uglier to better suit the "unique" market.
@Shanghai44 - yes, everyone knows beauty is subjective. The argument is the design elements can both appeal to the general public and be "unique". It didn't need to make it awkward to be unique. There is a difference between "boutique" and unnecessarily "unique", meaning trying too hard when you don't need to. To further it, because of the Trio headlights becoming a significant design language of the Firefly brand. Does this mean it is now the signature language to tie up all the future Firefly models? So, each and every Firefly will be sporting the Trio headlights to bring it all together? Is that what makes Firefly the brand it represents?
Firefly is Iconic, I love the look
Love this car. This for me as a female driver ❤
As a non-female I also like it 😉

Great video and great interpretations. Whomever buys a Firefly can also buy a NIO in 3 years time.

Looks like NIo confirmed 50k for 2025 in 6 months only!!😄
They said they will make a Firefly hybrid. That will avoid tariffs in Europe and the US.
"They" means some media publications making up such rumors. Nio was never cited with this strategic change.
Love it
Nio made a bold in Firefly by taking on legacy automakers Mini Cooper (BMW) and Smart (joint venture between Mercedes Benz and Geely).
Back in 2021, NIO was 69, I thought I can travel and visit your country, Germany, now it seems so far away.
That was all on speculation, now it will all be on if nio can be come profitable and actually make money 😮
Remember how BMW enthusiasts were pissed off over Bangle butt design?!
To my knowledge they can't use Nio s battery swap system for Firefly unfortunatly
