Yeah GMTV was on the cards for a long time because the franchise auction was in 1991 I think - and the handover was in 1992/3. Always thought it harsh on TV-AM, but then remember that we'd probably be equally critical of TV-AM as we are of GMTV today if it were still around. Its just TV-AM's designs are now so classic.
drmobe - Tv-am was not the first British breakfast TV show. BBC's Breakfast Time beat TV-am to air by 2 weeks and 1 day. However, even that was not the UK's first regular TV breakfast service. The first was Good Morning Calendar, which broadcast in the Yorkshire region for a few weeks in 1977.
love the tune and intro sky divers glad they never changed that during its run. Unlike here in the states they change it every 4 years or so, to out-play the other networks in the US.
@QuikSnaps Well someone must have been holding the camera. I guess the fourth skydiver was also behind the camera. Perhaps he was holding the microphone boom.
I wish I gonna see the cool UK TV ident beginning with new episodes of classic shows made in the UK and US and now as of today Itv beginning with this: "A fat girl and her gay friends chronicle her life in the UK premiere of American reality show "My Big Fat Fabulous Life". 😤😤😤😤😤😤😤
Us crazy Brits need licenses to broadcast that cost millions... Most countries broadcasters don´t need a license but are controlled by quality control laws which does the same thing as the licenses to broadcast. Anyway back in the day the Government deiced that it wanted more money and all the Licenses across the ITV Network were up for renewal - an easy way to get a few billion puonds... Needless to say that TV-AM lost it license and GM TV won..

I thought 'Good Morning Calendar' was the first UK Breakfast TV programme - at least 5 years earlier.
BRING BACK TV-AM

Imagine how different Breakfast TV would have been subsequently if ITN had got the franchise, and made a much more serious programme.
Rip David frost
the eggs also mark how long the show had been running
RIP David Frost
The first few seconds have "trivia" annotations.
