    Adding a subwoofer to your home stereo system or home theater system can make a huge improvement in your sound if you know how to properly position the subwoofer and adjust all of the settings. If you are willing to spend just a little bit of time learning how to set up a subwoofer the right way, the addition can transform your system. You might get lucky if you just plop it down, turn it on, and everything winds up perfect, but odds are you’ll need to play around with placement and adjustments to get ideal results.
    Be sure to find the correct placement for your subwoofer before setting it up and calibrating it. We can help you with that step here: audioadvice.io...

    Very good advice. This is about as thorough an explanation as I've seen on UA-cam. Thanks again Scott!

    Scott, Thank you for giving away such good info. By giving away all of the information that you and your company proves that Audio Advice is concerned about helping everyone bring up the level of enjoyment with their systems and not just the profits of the company. Again, thank you Scott and Audio Advice team!
    As far as low frequency set-up, management and control goes - It's like fighting a 500 pound gorilla. I have found that sub position (including height from floor), timing to the other speakers and the audio source (music, movies and tones) makes for quite a battle to find that "happy medium" for best overall low frequency enjoyment. I have had to learn to accept that not all recordings/sound tracks are made equally and trying to adjust for each piece of media is an endless maze. I'm hoping to find the best average soon so I might and I mean might be able finally sit down and enjoy the system.

    I always assumed that the AV Receivers Calibration software such as Audassy did all this automatically? You simply just place the microphone in your sitting position and let it do the calibration? Then sit and enjoy the movie?

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  Рік тому

      They are pretty automatic these days, but we find most get the distances off by quite a bit and its best to go in and adjust those, and not everyone has a receiver with room correction, especially people using subwoofers in a 2 channel system. Thanks for watching

    One question, my I have a Polk sub connected to a Denon via LFE. The sub only has a crossover pass turning knob (40-160) but there is now way to bypass. Do I turn the knob to 80 of 160? 3:38

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  Рік тому +1

      That is very odd there is not a bypass, normally the RCA inputs have a little switch above them to bypass the sub crossover. Start at 80 and test

    Question: I just purchased Anthem's MRX1140 and Klipsch Forte iv's from Audio Advice. I'm running 2.2 with dual svs sb3000's. Should I cross over with 10hz overlap between main speakers and subs with 24 octave slope? What would you recommend for crossing over this setup?

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  3 роки тому +1

      Josh- thanks for your support of Audio Advice, that is a great setup! Great question- you should probably try between 80-40Hz in 10 Hz increments. Probably no overlap, and use the 24dB slope. Be sure and run the SVS sub calibration before Anthem ARC.

    My subwoofer doesn’t have bypass. How do I go about it

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  3 роки тому

      If it does not have a bypass input, you should just set your main speakers to cross over at 80 Hz and set the subwoofer crossover to 80 Hz. Thanks for watching

    • @CHRISTOPHER-fq9gq
      @CHRISTOPHER-fq9gq 3 роки тому +7

      That would have two crossovers in a row which will cause loses or gaps in the bass response. Instead, set the subwoofer dial to its highest crossover and set the speakers to 80hz crossover. This will make your bass sound accurate and punchy!

    Hello! Great video!
    I Have a Yamaha Rx- A1080 Receiver with Dual Svs Sb-2000 pros, The Yamaha has 2 Sub outputs but I ran 1 interconnect from Output #1 to Input (LFE ) then Out from Sub to Input (LFE). My Question is that when I'm calibrating with YPAO or any manual calibrations, are both Subs Calibrating with Receiver?

    Totally unorthodox, but I want to use by car subwoofers for my home theater system. I have x2 12'' subs with a rockford amp. How should I go about setting this up regarding calibration? Are there any external devices I could use?

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  Рік тому

      Yes, we have virtually zero knowledge on car audio components. You'll need a way to power the amp and get the audio into it, then everything else should be similar in terms of set up.

    So you said speakers SPL should be around 75 decibels. At what volume should this test be performed? I have a Yamaha reciever.

    • @AudioAdvice
      @AudioAdvice  2 роки тому +1

      That will depend on your setup. It is best to use an SPL meter app on your phone and turn up your volume until you hit 75 decibels on the SPL meter.
