Sir, Thank you so much for explaining this complex adjustment so well :) Doubt- When both the balances of bad debts and provision for doubtful debts are given in the trial balance, why don't we assume that bad debts must have already been deducted from(written off to) the amount of provision for doubtful debts? Is that bcoz we transfer the amount of bad debts to p&l a/c (or provision for doubtful debt a/c as in the case) at the 'end of financial year'?
If bad debt had already been written off from the provision then there should not be any Bad debt A/c in the trial balance, right? Also, all these adjustments of writing off the expenses and adjustments are done at year end.
