Lowkey the laser mechanic meant any bosses with normal movement patterns, normal vulnerability, and remotely normal attack patterns would be super weak and easy to kill. The game had to either limit effective attack styles or give the boss attacks that prevented you from aiming. The dinosaur boss was an absolute joke because he could be damaged by the laser and didn’t make the slightest effort to dodge. Tin robot: immune to laser Zurg kite: hard to pin down and never comes close enough to take spin damage Bomber: basically same as Zurg kite Jackhammer: immune to spin, requires laser disks, chases you all over narrow beams with a three story climb to get back if you fall Clown top: immune to spin and chases you so it becomes hard to aim Slime: gets too close too fast to spam ranged attacks Buzz Buggy: shoots you with lasers and runs you over if you stand still at all Giant alien: must destroy his entire army to get to him Spider gunro: fans Gunslinger: highly accurate ranged attacks and small battlefield Prospector: basically same as gunslinger Blacksmith: seeking attacks, no standing still.
@@MegaBrokenstar jeez bro I just meant that it works in the movie and why it didn’t work in the game… I played this when I was 5 years old so I tend to forget there’s a whole speedrunning community dedicated to it
You're telling me my plan. I already know the plan. I made up the plan. It's my plan. What I don't know is how close you are TO ACCOMPLISHING MY PLAN!!!!
I love how they made this area boss second last, because Zurg should really be Buzz’s final boss but that wouldn’t work with the premise of the game. If you’ve ever played on emulator Zurg is much faster without the PS1’s lag, and he’s genuinely very difficult even for an adult player
That is what makes the boss a challenge. Even as a little kid I beat him as easily as any other boss in the game, but in comparison to the other bosses Zurg is the hardest boss in the game which is fitting for a game where you play as Buzz. As a kid I only had a hard time with the slight amount of parkour on certain areas of certain levels. Construction Yard (level 4) climbing the unfinished tower, Alleys and Gulleys (level 5), Al's Pent House (level 11). And don't get me started on getting certain Pizza Planet Tokens especially if you need them to progress through the game. Those were the hardest parts of the game for me. Nowadays, when I got it for the PS4 and played it so I can beat it for the 3rd time in my life, I almost beat it without dying, Zurg almost gave me my first death but I beat him before he could kill me, I died at the Airport sadly.
If we are to take the PC glitch for the game into consideration, I would say that Evil Emperor Zurg is nightmarishly hardest boss to defeat in the game, even more than the Final Showdown With The Prospector. Music tune that plays in The Evil Emperor Zurg level, however, is very catcjy and ominous.
Anyone else get the zurg speed glitch on this level that made him near impossible to beat? Took me SOO long to corner him enough times to beat the level, damn satisfying though.
Someone commented there was a selection on which software or something to use. That is what may have caused the speed glitch. The PS1 original does not have that problem.
Yeah this happened to me once years ago. I lost all 9 lives and after about an hour of trying to beat this level on a laptop. I was so frustrated. LOL!
Funny thing, I wanted to look up before I walked toward the boss triggering spot to see if his model was just floating up there, and it was. Also, as a little kid, a little while before I unlocked the boss fight, I had a dream where I actually unlocked the level. I saw Buzz just standing there doing his dizzy animation (when you charge up your spinning wings attack) and he was singing before he got hit by Zurg's green balls and then he began running toward him while shooting his lasers. This was before I unlocked the level and fought him for the first time. That dream felt so real to me, I woke up disappointed because I used to be stuck on the part where I had to enough Pizza Planet Tokens to unlock the level and I was looking forward to fighting Zurg more than anything else even though I still wanted to beat the rest of the levels. I'm not joking Buzz was like...…. LLLAAAAAAAAAAAA LaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLa--- OW (the sound he makes when you get hit) It was a shame that he was invincible to your lasers. I was really looking forward to doing it. That's what sucks about the Boss fight, I wish the developers didn't make him that way maybe make him more resistant to losing chunks of Health like the other bosses to make the boss more intimidating to the kids that played the game.
Wow true story also I got dream as a child when the slime time doing dance and then spooky ghost join dance and the skeleton join dance too because I would be medium scared of slime time boss level 😐
Pues si sobre todo porque siempre se mueve y es inmune a los disparos laser ya que solo puedes dañarlo con ataques giratorios y peor siempre se mueve y te dispara pelotas verdes que son teledirigidas

I bet if they added a chorus to this theme, they’d be chanting “Destroy Buzz Lightyear!” every now and then just like Zurg did in the movie😏
That's a pretty good idea.
Nah itd be like Duel of the Fates
I want to see someone make a song and music video with this music.
Zurg blurts this out throughout the fight lol
Zurg: So, face to face again, Buzz Lightyear, for the last time!
Buzz: not today, Zurg!

I didn’t know what Zurg was saying when I played this game as a kid. Now I know what he’s saying when revisiting years later.

@@LuigiTheMetal64 actually, mainly the player's CPU is causing the issue as it's considered to be a super-CPU by the game
Oh so that was a glitch? I thought it was just very difficult.

I remember this
Jonathan McEnroe Kick Yusuft at SVS old Town Torrance
Ramalama Bang Bang anyone???
This boss is pretty disappointing and lame. I think the one-eyed space robot is the best.
Jajajaja como le veo pocos comentarios pero si es recontra dificil matar a este jefe y mas si es en la version de pc. Este debio ser el jefe final.
