This is totally ingenious; I have to hand it to you and your father for coming up with TRULY practical solutions for problems we may encounter on our Scoots... keep up the good work!!!
@@RedRiderCanadaBC given enough beer, I could have thought of that, too! Congrats!
Thank you for taking time to send me this video. Appreciate you and and your father's ingenuity. Thanks again for information.
@RedRiderCanadaBC I'm sure it will when I get time to figure it out have to see if I can get the pins for the plug. Mine is a 93 1200 sporster. So hopefully it works out for me. Thanks again for your help.
Glad your feeling better Red !
It's gonna be 80° degrees here in Texas today but, turning cooler tomorrow. It's the riding season here now in Texas !
Cool trick on the turn signal module !
A great "how to" Red. Glad you are starting to feel better. Winter ... yuck. I just put new tires on the Silverado today. Winter is a little late in upstate NY but it's right around the corner. Stay well girl !!!
If I remember the automotive application of the *heavy-duty* two-terminal flasher plugin, the heavy duty flash relay was useful when using with more than two lamps on each side of the vehicle, (such as when towing a trailer with lights). (Handles more / extra current draw through the flasher). Thanks for showing your installation. Good stuff‼️ (Like always). 😊
Impeccable timing and a permanent fix !! Erkkkk the weather looks like nogo...Thanks for the video ✌✌
Thanks Angel always look forward to your videos, glad you're feeling better. JT
Thanks Red! I have an old 1974 fxe shovelhead with no turn signals. You just gave me an idea to put some on.
No problems with the turn signals on my bike but I'm sure there are folks out there that will use your quick fix on their bikes! Thanks for sharing!
Good info to have Red.
I love the simple and effective ways you demonstrate for the average rider to fix things by themselves and not have to spend gas money on.
My turn signals are attached to my shoulders but I'll be saving this info in case I, or someone I know should ever need it.
Glad you're feeling better and back at it but sad you can't get out and ride. Maybe see if you can score a sidecar and go snow riding. I did it with a Ural I had and it's a blast!
I recently just watched a video of a bunch of guys taking there Dneprs off roading, those things look like tons of fun!
Great to hear from someone who's had Urals, they are something else, had a couple, raw n rural classics, city traffic is clunky going...😂 snow with a sidecar is what they're built for ...stay safe ✌
Thank you. I’ve gone through this with my 06 Heritage classic. My mechanic who I’m weaning myself off of because of his extraordinarily hourly labor rate told me that the module Harley didn’t make anymore. I was gonna be hard to find but I found it well I’m going through it again. I’m no professional, but I’m not an idiot either. We’ll see what happens.
I love work arounds like this. Well done 👍. Glad you're feelin' better. Yeah, an LED died in my speedo cluster for the left turn signal. HD price- $210 for the module and harness. No thanks.... Got spot mirrors and stuck them on the fork tube tops to reflect the signal lights. Worked fine till I found the module on eBay for much less 👍
Great cheap fix!!! Liked the Kustom bracket utilizing the exsisting bolt.. definitely using these turn signals in the future... another job well done! :)
Good deal. Old stuff still works. I dont really remember how I wired it but only one old truck flasher on my bike, LED blinkers too. Guessing I ran one hot wire to each blinker switch through the flasher then grounded back to the frame. Stay healthy, winter is just starting.
Great vid angel you are a beautiful human being please keep the vids coming!!!!!
Wow thanks. A timely video for me.
Once again, very well prepared informative video garage talk Bikerism keep it up Red Angel
It looks like the old turn signal modules in the pickups back in the 70s........good practical fix.👍
good info. thanks ,just incase I have to put turn signals on my 1981 shovel calif. made it mandatory in 73 ,but im not running them unless a get a ticket .
Brrrrr, I will take the low 70's we are having in Tn. I owned and drove a tractor trailer all over the US and a fair amount of Canada for 7 yrs, too cold up there me. Went way up in Alberta one winter, didn't make that mistake again.
You seem to be back in good form, tech vids are usually helpful. Of course if you want to roll the Shovel outside and do kick starts there will be appreciative people watching, but I think there are better things to have on your channel this winter. The trick is to figure out what you have to offer that people need. It probably doesn't matter, your personality draws a lot of us in. Thanks for providing knowledge and entertainment.
The TSM is a turn signal modual , The TSSM is the one with the security system , and the one for when ya dump your bike is a BAS (bank angle sensor).
Awesome video, you are so talented. Thanks for the tips glad your feeling better. 🌹🌷⚘🌻
Nice quick fix video
Im new to your channel and have a 99 roadking
I love the fact that you and your Dad work on your bike together❤ i have 3 daughters and they have no interest in any of these things lol
Glad you're feeling better and thank goodness for dads who save everything. My wife, however would disagree. Thanks for sharing.
Mark, with me it would be. "Awe man, I just threw out those old electrical blocks last week and now I need to fabricate something to fix my damn signals!"
@@pieceworkstudios For me, I stash it in a place where I'll remember and then forget where I put it. Eventually, I find it years later when I don't need it.
This method also works for LED bulbs that either don’t flash or flash too fast. I used two cheap electronic turn relays off Amazon and just placed them into the output after the box. (2000 roadking)
Very nice work.
Good job Red! Cool beans! Thanx... ✌
Nice! I've been looking for something different for my directionals. I'd put an automotive flasher in mine, but it didn't work. My directionals light up and stay on (as long as you're pressing the button). So I've just been pressing the button off and on through the turn (Hah! The Illusion of a functioning turn signal lol). I'll definitely be giving those a try, I'm sure my thumbs wouldn't mind a little less workout during their day. 🤣 Thanks again Red... 😁
Good tip! Always nice to have a sweet plan B & keep some cash for the fuel tank!💰
Smart fix red rider
Thanks 🙏 for this information I’m having trouble with my 2002 Heritage Softail . This is not a bad idea.
I have those switches on my Shovel, I fitted a couple of latching relays so now it's press to turn them on then press to turn off when ready.
Stewart, any chance you could share the way you wired up the latching relays, I like your idea and was hoping to wire mine up like this too.
@@kawakebs Hi sorry I only just seen your question, I can't seem to be able to add a photo here. If you could let me know your email I can send you my wiring diagram or if you can tell me how to add it here that would be great
@@stewartbrowne861 Thanks for your reply Stewart. You should be able to find my email address in my profile, under the 'about' tab?
If ya ever want to go full nostalgic, get a manual from the 40s or 50s. Yes, Harleys had turn signals back then. From the factory or dealer installed. I've seen some variations. But for example. On the right handlebar, ya had a 3 position flip or rocker switch. Left- off - right. Also on the handlebar, ya had a push button. So ya flipped switch A to the direction ya wanted to signal, and held down the button. And yes, there was the old style blinker/flasher upstream of the rocker switch. The signals flashed as long as ya held the button down! But this was also the era of 6-volt systems, so if yer generator and/or battery was weak, the headlight and taillight dimmed too!
Thanks for the info
Hello Red Rider
Wow, it's already snowing in Canade🤩 Motorbike season is definitely over this year!!! 😉Many greetings Ogar😎🤙🏼
Red, just use a 3 way switch and flash blinkers manually power in center l-r with 2 wires each flip switch by finger
Fun video..thanks!
Wow...
I have a wiring problem too my street 750. Been missing like clogged fuel filter or empty gas. I shake it side to side and it'll stop. Then I dropped it at biker bar just starting it up must have moved and kick stand collapsed. Engine guard helped. Now it's running fine 🙂
😍 ty for sharing 💓 ❤️ 💕
Enjoyed 😎💯
👍I like the elimination of wire and circuits. Simple. ✌️😁
I hate holding the turn signal switch on my 82 FXRS. You gave me a new quest. I’m going to see if I can upgrade it to self canceling. Where I ride you need every light you can get to protect you from the knuckleheads behind you.
i deleted my turn signal module on my sportser and just inline hardwired them direct. so they dont blink, they stay on when the button is held in so i can blink it myself... which is better bc i can make a flash pattern that is inconsistent and irregular which makes it more visible ...
the fix you did will work fine as far as i know so long as your not using led...
also as far as security they sell aftermarket replacements that are for security only..
feel better. peace out
Nice video
go red go!!
🤘😘🤘
Same module on the old sportste same connection up to 2003, get rid of that cold before you go out on the bike good look stay safe..
I would go nuts in Canada the riding season is so short. Here on long Island ny I usually get out at least a few times during the winter
I live in a nice area in southern bc. Normally I can ride from march to November without having to worry about snow
Sweet again angel 👍🏻❤️
Good idea .. when I had problems with mine it turned out to be the speedo. Was doing something funny the speedo and the odometer was working but it was not working well or playing well with the turn signal module.. 😢 your dad sounds like me I save everything some people say I'm a hoarder LOL but it's mainly just motorcycle parts ;-) I needed a couple simple Spade connectors and I went to the Harley dealer and they didn't have any. I thought I would actually use something new I went home and hunted around and they do with what I had I told the guy at the dealer I said I hope you guys at least have a spark plug. 😣
No offense may be a little bit too much talking. But you got the point across eventually. My kudos to your dad for teaching you the right way to save a Dollar. And for passing on the mechanical abilities that you possess. Not many people have the patience to learn these things nowadays.
Thanks for the input, and no offence taken. I was still pretty new to the whole UA-cam thing back when I made this.
nice simple fix... thats how l do things... an old Harley ride told me years ago.. dont need blinkers just point & Yell Going That Way C#*#T..lol .. cheers from Down Under.. & Keep Ya Knee's in Da Breeeeeezzzzzzeeeeee.......
Not luxuries, but legality in some states; if you want to ride at night. Any ideas on a switch substitute for the turn-post turn signal flasher assembly?
Sorry, I’m not quite sure what you’re asking about? The turn switches themselves, or the flasher?
My 1993 Heritage did'nt have working left turn signals when it came to me on trade. I fixed tail light (it was out too), and right turn signals stopped working after that! I don't know, someone has done something with the wiring, you see non factory wires too. But i guess i need to check that module too.
HD turn signals confuse me because (think about it) you need two hands to operate them. Imagine if your car was like that? Anyways, if you’re up against it and you can’t find the connector you need in your dad's junk box, there are companies that sell nothing but automotive/motorcycle connectors, pins, plug bodies, you name it, they have it. Nice simple, well executed fix. Simple is the best.
I am having the same problem with my 93, can you tell me does your bikes VIN start with 1HD or 5HD? If yours is an international model your turn signals are different then mine.
Only thing with hooking up the old school blinker is then you don’t have the self canceling feature for the lights anymore. I think I mention that in the vid somewhere.
Without the controller wouldn’t you’d have to hold the buttons? Because the controller is only looking for a complete 12v circuit to activate the blinkers. 1 push on, 1 push off, excluding self cancelling/automative processing in the controller. I’ve been trying to find a work around to wire up some Harley hand controls on my Magna
Yes, you have to hold the buttons down. But that’s why the is considered a quick solution and not necessarily a permanent one.
@@RedRiderCanadaBC Thanks 👍🏻, btw I found aftermarket controllers, specifically a company called “Badlands” for 80-90$. They make a bunch of different controllers, load balancers etc. What we are both looking for is “turn signal canceler”. Not sure if you’re interested but it definitely beats 100-300+ dollars for an old controller off another bike.
Should have checked if there was an aftermarket module for your flashers it would have been at least 10 to $20 cheaper and still keep it stock
Thanks for the update and details on your flasher fix; nice video.
haha yeah, winter is here in Minnesota also; no snow to speak of yet, but its very cold and the MC season is done for the year. I rode my bikes out to the barn yesterday. My local HD dealership has a warehouse where we bikers store our H.O.G.S. for the winter. While they're in storage they also get oil change(s) , my Sportster S is getting a new front tire , and they both get fuel stabilizer to help keep the injectors clear and clean.
Well, I can't believe the season is over for 2022. Alas. Angel, have a great winter. I'm so happy to hear that you're recovering from the 'crud' you've been suffering with; good news. Keep the faith, and we'll both be on our bikes in no time!
peace, Red.

Hello Red hope you're feeling better? Hey just a topic do you like Charlie Pride music? Do you enjoy country music in general? If not what music do you like? I am a Charlie Pride fan from way back. Maybe you're dad likes a few songs of good ole Charlie.
I’m not too big into country, I mostly like hard rock and stuff like it. But I like a bit of everything.
Well it's definitely fall here it was 37° this morning but at least it's not snowing so I'm still riding. 😊🏍️👌✌️🖖
Nice....I went for a ride the other day....+10.....then the next day it started snowing (Saskatchewan)...sigh.
What would cause my rear indicator lights not work but turn signal still do😢
If they are running lights and signal lights, it might just be the elements in the bulbs, so I would check those first, then check your fuses, and your wires. If non of that works, I would suggest finding a wiring diagram for your bike to figure out what else may be causing that.
Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
Just like to say the bank angle censor is not part of the turn signal module bank angle censor controlls vehicle shut off safty switch
Looking under the seat of your motorcycle, I felt ashamed of myself, because the devil himself would break his leg in the wiring of my motorcycle. (To be clear, my bike was originally 6 volts, I converted everything to 12 volts and now I have a fiesta in my wiring). Get well soon! :)
Yikes s n o w. Oh no 😲😂
Grin....when mine died I just used my left arm.....
Ha. You thing with HD in the part number it would be at least $100
6 months of gray....I dread it.
Are you required by law to have turn signals? Where I'm currently at they are not required by law. We use our arms.
Stay safe out there Red 🙏
We are required to have them after a certain year. So the dyna needed them to pass inspection.
@@RedRiderCanadaBC
We aren't required to have horns, turn signals or mirrors. ..Stay safe Red 🙏
😘❤👍
I do believe you are a girl after my heart! I think everything is way overpriced these days. If I can simplify something at a lower cost I will give it a go in a heartbeat. That's why I like old bikes over the new ones. All the new is computers and fuel injected, with ABS and ride modes. If something breaks on them, you pretty much have to buy their parts and have the dealership work on them. My 03 Bonneville is twin carbs, air cooled, disc brake, chain drive and a pleasure to ride. My 2016 Indian Scout is all electronic and a pain. You have to remove the gas tank to get to the air filter and spark plugs, but she is a speed demon lol, so I put up with her design flaws. I applaud you on this, do it yourself money saver, but I'm sure HD isn't to thrilled lol! Keep it up!! I love it!! I know ya can't ride in the snow, so take care of yourself and stay nice and warm! Stay safe Red Rider!
True but I am even having problems finding some parts for one of the best triples Triumph ever made.
Makes me wish I could machine my own.
But knowing good workarounds is very useful if you are riding a bike of any age or style.
Take your vitamins and get better Red. Another great and educational video.
