      I wish you safe travels!
Baja is an amazing place, if you find yourself in So-cal it's really worth a visit.

Well done. RE: american tourists. My fellow americans, when we can be bothered to leave the US, tend to bring our culture with us and impose it on the places we visit. If there are enough american tourists visiting a place, it will adopt american tastes to accommodate american tourists. Like you, I prefer the less americanized places. Pre-Pandemic I absolutely loved Morocco and Turkey. Even there I encountered many local folks expressing bewilderment at how many americans would visit and demand familiarity - food, accommodation, experiences. Defeats the purpose, I think.
Anyhow I think I might give Baja a shot. For reasons unknown to me Ive not been there yet

I just drove from Los Angeles to Los Cabos this summer. Great drive… absolutely beautiful! Easy and definitely safe depending on where you decide to stay. I chose to stay in little hotels ($50 a night) with 24 hours security. I’m looking forward to doing the drive on two wheels soon!

Excellent videos Gustaf. I like your pleasant demeanor. No boisterous nonsense. I have the same machine and have nothing but praise for it, even if you outweigh me by 100 lbs. By the way. what fork brace are you running? I hope you make it to South America healthy and content. I commend you for your dedication. Have fun!

      Thank you!
I run the AdventureTech fork brace. People seem to praise it a lot, but i have to admit that i did not notice a day and night difference at all.
      Ride safe

    Good tips.
    What route did you take?
I have driven by car the full length of Baja. I want to do it on my bike.
    Beautiful scenery.

      Thanks!
I crossed the border with Tijuana but headed straight to Ensenada. From ensenada i continued to San Felipe and Puertecitos. From Puertecitos i continued past Coco's corner to Bahia de los Angeles (highly recommended place to visit). From there i continued to Loreto, Los Cabos and then to La Paz. form La Paz i took the boat to mainland Mexico.
I hope you get a chance to do it with a bike. It's a fantastic experience!

Nice footage! Is it paved all the way to Cabo San Lucas? I’m wondering if I could get down there on a Goldwing, 2up.

Thanks! It’s sure possible to drive all the way to Cabo on asphalt. Just keep to the west coast of Baja and you’ll be fine. The east coast (towards the bay) is mostly unpaved.

Thanks for the info! With the pandemic, I’ve been looking at the ‘21 Goldwing, and would like to do some long distance rides to warm places.

Hi Gustaf, as I am 6’5”, I was interested to know if you have you made any modifications to the V Strom to accommodate your height?

    • @GustafN
      @GustafN  4 роки тому +1

I'm 206cm (or 6'9" in 'Murica units), i didn't need to do much on the V-Strom for my height. I run Suzuki original wide pegs lowering the peg position by 20mm or 25mm (can't recall exactly) and a 25mm handlebar riser. That's it, I'm comfortable on longer rides with no problems. I think one thing that would be nice is a taller seat and another 25-50mm in handlebar height, but it's just a luxury at this point.
For my weight i did change up the suspension tho, there's a separate video on it. It gave me a slight ground clearance increase. ua-cam.com/video/NDAyQn7aMpk/v-deo.html
