- UPDATE: Since the recording of this video The US Postal Service on Wednesday morning announced it will continue accepting incoming international parcels from China and Hong Kong - after saying late Tuesday night that it would suspend them.
Although no reason was given for the initial suspension of package deliveries from China, the Postal Service suggested Wednesday it was related to broad-based new tariffs imposed Tuesday and elimination of the de minimis exemption. This exemption had allowed anyone, including exporters, to ship packages worth less than $800 to the United States without duties or needing to undergo inspections. Inspecting incoming parcels to collect the new import taxes could prove extremely difficult.

HONG KONG - Americans are likely to pay more for products from popular Chinese e-commerce platforms like Shein and Temu as the U.S. Postal Service said it would stop accepting parcels from China and Hong Kong.
The move was announced Tuesday, coming after the U.S. imposed an additional 10% tariff on Chinese goods and ended a customs exception that allowed small value parcels to enter the U.S. without paying tax. Canada and Mexico managed to negotiate a month-long reprieve from 25% tariffs threatened by U.S. President Donald Trump.
It will likely impact online shopping destinations like Shein and Temu, popular with younger shoppers in the U.S. for cheap clothing and other products, usually shipped directly from China.

Thanks for the info. Chris. This type of occurrence is nothing new as it has happened well in the past as a result of trade wars (ie. tariffs and retaliatory tariffs) and we'll just have to ride it out and hopefully we'll get good news in the not too far future.

Chris USPS posted this - Effective February 5, 2025, the Postal Service will continue accepting all international inbound mail and packages from China and Hong Kong Posts. The USPS and Customs and Border Protection are working closely together to implement an efficient collection mechanism for the new China tariffs to ensure the least disruption to package delivery.

I just got a notification that one of my orders (from Sideshow) that was already due to come in, is being pushed out again. I’m wondering if that’s the cause.
It's frustrating when packages get delayed, especially when you're excited about them! Hopefully, it’s just a minor hiccup and your order will arrive soon.
Usps is now ressuming acceptance packages from China and Hong Kong. It helps to wait this out. I don't know the status of that loophole exemption.

Sounds like there is no resolution to this? I’ve always worried about the the U.S./CHINA trade relations. I almost ordered a Sideshow piece, definitely will hold onto my money now.
