Your assistant/friend has great taste in knives, I have a couple of those, as well :) The older Camillus scout/utility knife was most likely produced between 1946-1949 making it 70+ years old! That Camillus tang stamp is referred to as a "Short Line": the other is from the 1960's. I have greatly enjoyed your excellent videos covering so many of the traditional patterns from the great US cutlers of the past! Thank you!
You are a pro! Back in the heyday of pocket knife company's, everyone was making carbon steel models, sad that today there are only a handful doing it.
I don't know it all, But I remember when the Buck 110 was in the 440c. and Western and Schrade were American made. I'm that old, Yeah, I will tell you my age, I'm Plenty-One, heh heh heh.,,.
got me laughing on that one! I have a book that lists all the old knife makers... pages of them! In the old days, every man woman and child must have had a pocket knife I think.
Very happy to see this as tried to understand the earlier CAMILLUS utility knives. I was given by my Father the earlier version you introduced. Thanks sharing the piece of knowledge of CAMILLUS knives. I have seen the 2 celluloid covers were heated and shrunk and I am having a headache time how I could fix this. I am from Taiwan.

Thanks share this. Now I know the age of the old version I have on hand.
I see again my knife but I found there is no under line below the CAMILLUS stamp.
Maybe this the earlier version.

I like the farmer, I should have gotten that instead of the sak climber that has no saw.
Say Heah, Yeah very similar to my Camillus Botanical.,,.
