    To be fair to her, a 42% to survive a Berserker crit is a significantly higher chance than I have to survive such an attack.

    Tbh I think you are underselling Camilla lol. I would argue she's a tier above every other combat unit, with her and Azura chilling at the top.
    To say she falls to being around a top 5 unit in your army by the end of the game is, at least in my mind, an exaggeration.
    Overtaking Camilla takes a pretty huge amount of resources/planning/investment. It's not impossible, but more often than not I find Camilla's overall performance in the late chapters to be the best in my army.
    I don't think it's essential to heart seal into Wyvern Lord, but even if you do, I don't think it should be a mark against her. Using one seal at a point where you can buy an infinite number of them (or at least however many you can afford) is still the lowest investment out of any unit who remains good throughout the game.
    Even then, you can go big into investment on Camilla, which gives you one of the better Takumi killers, or a Dagger user who just walks forward and kills everything

    Oh by the way. Two things about Anna
    1. She has 6 fingers. Now you're cursed with that.

    Thank you so much for this video. It's perfect and I agree with most was is said, but I only play on Normal so far. Also, Azura as Beserker, I tried it because of this video... She is my strongest unit. Highest STR, really good SPD and Skill. She also dodges like a Sumia. I never really used her besides or singing.

    Feels weird to say Keaton will never be one of the major combat units, since he most certainly has the stats to just destroy enemies on player-phase. Highest strength in the game, and very good speed from his base classline; as well as a Fighter reclass option for HP +5 and Sol. His only real downside is the 1-2 range, but in Fates that's not _too_ terrible since javelins and hand axes aren't at their best here anyway. It would HELP if he had them, sure, but it's not a death-sentence if he doesn't. Plus, just as he makes a good support backpack for other units, he takes great advantage of being the lead as well, since that helps patch up his Skill. You mentioned Mozu and she does give Keaton Skill, Speed, and Luck, which he _very_ much appreciates. He also functions fantastically with Arthur, Camilla, Selena, Beruka, Laslow, Benny, and even just his own daughter.
    He's deceptively flexible, and is just a _fantastic_ combat unit if you don't mind not being able to counterattack mages and whatnot (even then, Grisly Wound makes it so endgame units don't get off scott-free.) One downside though is that he doesn't really gain very many classes from Friendship Seals. Arthur gives Fighter which he already has. Laslow gives Mercenary, but he already has Hero and doesn't care about Bow Knight. Benny gives Knight, which, Luna is nice and all, but not many enemies can survive Keaton anyway and he doesn't have the best Skill, Sol is a better option, though Natural Cover does pair nice with the beast-unit's quirk of not suffering movement penalties in forests. You typically will just want to use him in his base-class so all he really wants is the skills from someone else. And of those notable...
    Camilla gives him access to Trample and Savage Blow, which he can pair with Grisly Wound, and Wyvern Lord grants Lancebreaker which helps to mitigate his Beast Killer weakness. (Beruka too)
    Azura grants Sky Knight, and also serves as a very nice mother for Velouria, while Keaton grants Shigure some fantastic stats and growths. Darting Blow is nice, and Relief gives some self-sustain, but the real benefit is the class-growths, which helps patch up his weak-points so he can roll back into Wolfssegner later. Azura's easily my favorite pairing for him, both gameplay-wise, and because they're adorable together... :D
    Mozu gives him Archer and access to Certain Blow, which...yeah, he loves having that.
    Nyx (though she will screw over Velouria) gives Keaton access to Heartseeker, Lifetaker, Vengeance, and Tomebreaker, the latter of which helping with his vulnerability to mages, while Keaton gives access to HP +5 in return, which Nyx very much appreciates.
    Peri gives access to the Cavalier classline, which now that I'm looking at it, is actually a pretty good class _for_ Keaton. Shelter, Defender, Aegis, Elbow Room, and Luna as already discussed with Great Knight. It offers similar growths to the Sky Knight line, and his beast-weakness isn't as bad since the class is already weak to that.
    Overall, Keaton's just a _fantastic_ unit, and besides the obvious juggernauts like Xander, Corrin, Camilla, I'd say he's a strong contender for the best units in Conquest, if not Fates as a whole. I love Keaton, I love using him, and I've played Fates a lot and it hurts at this point to bench him. Strong A-tier unit at the end of the day

      I suppose what we meant by "major combat unit" is an enemy phase sweeper, such as Leo/Xander/etc. And while he is good in the player phase role, there's other player phase units who have advantages in availability (ch14 isn't super late but it's later than most gen 1 units) or other areas like flight. He's definitely good but I see him as more middle of the pack, so to speak.

    • @DaniDoyle
      @DaniDoyle  17 днів тому +2

      I also think both of our opinions have gone up on him since the recording although not to the degree either of us would consider him a major combat unit (in the vein that blur his talking about) as a general rule the reviews at the beginning of our stream series are going to be a little bit worse than the ones later on (especially my own takes)

    I always get Midori at level 4 in my CQ runs for Profiteer, but I acknowledge that function is mainly just a “nice to have” thing.
    I think what makes that appealing to me is that I don’t have to invest that much into her, since the paralogue itself is the biggest immediate prize.

  • @leonarth

    As someone who likes Peri, she is so... niche? And done so dirty because her options compared to everyone else in the cast is so hamstrung. While her two friendship seals - Fighter from Charlotte, and Mercenary from Selena, are... decent, she also has Felicia which neither really seem to get much out of, as Peri wants nothing to do with Troubadour. In theory she can progress into Great Knight to level 5 to pick up Luna, then jump into Hero for Sol, then... she kinda has nowhere to go. She could technically Sol Ninja by marrying Kaze, but her base Skill is gonna haunt her all game, probably during the hardest Conquest chapters. She could pick up Wyvern Lord from Xander but now you're sacking Xander for a sidegrade to what Selena could do (Peri has 20% more Str, but 20% less Def in Wyvern Lord). The sad part? Beruka can basically do anything Peri wants to do, but better, joins earlier, and if you *really* want Sol Ninja, just needs to marry Kaze for it, which isn't a bad pairing either since Beruka can always slide into Berserker backpack if it doesn't pan out, giving Kaze more consistent kill benchmarks.
    Something additionally unfortunate about Peri - her Bloodlust counts as a rally to each stat, so if you already rallied her she won't get the Bloodlust bonus to those rallied stats. Thus her personal skill sounds really good on paper, but in practice you are not getting much out of it, not to mention it is all offense - Str/Mag/Skill/Spd, so you need to dance her to see use from it in a good way. It's at least always on her and free, but it might as well not be there when it matters most.
    I will glaze Charlotte though, as a unit. A lot of people use her in her join chapter, with Gamble and the Steel Axe, and that's all they see. Where Charlotte actually shines is her growths are very slanted. 75% Str and 65% Spd means she will start hitting benchmarks reasonably fast. Her skill isn't actually that bad either, 10 Skill isn't ideal but with a tonic she ties with base Selena but has 5% more growth. She will have some issues, yes, and I would **never** Sol with her (but for other reasons), but she's not doing any worse than her contemporaries. What I find really makes Charlotte work though, is unlike Nyx who will die if she misses and faces a potential counter, Charlotte... won't? She has 33 (28 + 5) base HP and an 85% growth. Charlotte is the one Fates unit who doesn't have HP problems at any point in the game, which is great because her Defense is barely there and her Res is never going anywhere. What I find is Charlotte actually does really well at being a player phase nuke who can go toe to toe with some really nasty enemies once she gets going, but she's never going to be top tier because of that rough start. At the end of the day she is still the best backpack for Str/Spd purposes and nothing is going to change that, but I think people who say that's the only thing she can do severely undervalue her statline. Rarely do I actually reclass her though, often just going 15/1 Berserker all the way to the end, maybe Sol from Hero if I want to be funny or leverage that HP some more.
    Oh and Unmask has the most niche, but funny use case for me in the game. With WTA, her absurd offensive benchmarks, and some forging, Charlotte obliterates fliers in maps like Chapter 24, and very shakily in a map like Chapter 14 if needed. While I am far from saying this is a legit and viable strategy, the +20 Crit also leads to some of the most absurd gambling you can do as between Gamble, a Killer Axe, and Unmask Charlotte can have 55 crit (before her skill and enemy luck) against enemy fliers. With that in mind, coinflip responsibly, folks.
    With my dumb TED Talk over with though, I enjoy seeing perspectives on Conquest's cast all the time, including this one. We're almost to 10 years of discourse on how to play the game and it's been great seeing it evolve over time. From the early days of "Nyx Good, Odin Bad" and "Xander has speed issues" to "Oops, all wyverns" and people actually using the reclass system instead of ignoring it to great effect, I think Conquest has had one of the most dramatic shifts in unit tiering out of the series, only rivaled by GBA's constant evolution with the community.
    Oh, one last thing, the reason Silver weapons are hated besides the debuff (I can take or leave that personally), the 4k gold on a Silver weapon can be used to +2 an Iron weapon with equal or better stats, assuming you have the forging materials. You also get no free Silvers in Conquest unless you get lucky on the Lottery, so there's not even some kind of free opportunity to justify it.

    • @blueluna1029
      @blueluna1029 14 днів тому

      The thing is though, silver weapons actually do have better stats than a forged iron of the same price. An iron +2 is gonna have 2 more hit than a silver of the same weapon type, but 2 or 3 less might (in the case of the iron axe +2 it actually has 4 less might compared to a silver axe). So the tradeoff is between the higher might of silvers or the lack of debuff on a forged iron.
      Honestly the real victim of the forging system is iron weapons since forged bronze will always have more hit for the same might, assuming same price. So iron is almost always worse outside of trying to do stuff with proc skills like sol.

    • @leonarth
      @leonarth 14 днів тому

      @@blueluna1029 True, I think I might have been glancing at Steel when doing the math by accident, as +2 is a +4 to Might, and most Irons in Fates have about half the might of their Silver equivalent (8 vs 16 for Axes, as an example).
      That said, I do agree, many of Fates's systems, forging included, make Silver and even Steel kinda meaningless. Kaze is a great example of someone who wants more Might but can't afford the Str drop from Silver to do so, and is one of the only units, and most extreme case, with the mix of sky high Spd and low Str to even *consider* running forged Steel to trade some Spd for more Mt. If someone is truly missing a kill, Rally/Meal/Tonic is way easier to use than taking the trade-off from high rank weapons, especially when the Silver debuff stacks itself and can make you miss easier kills at the worst of times.

    • @DaniDoyle
      @DaniDoyle  14 днів тому

      I mean, if you use a silver on a large enemy phase and have the debuff stack a bunch then that would be bad but there's nothing forcing you to do that silvers are instead better for player phasing high value targets (such as the various mini bosses or particularly bulky enemies like Oni) especially as you get into the late game using a silver alongside a rally can allow you to secure kills that you wouldn't be able to do with a bronze or iron alongside a rally (just like the silver debuff stacks with itself Rally's stack with higher might weapons)

    • @leonarth
      @leonarth 13 днів тому

      Sure but the problem is instead of 4k gold for a Silver I can spend 150 for a Strength tonic and put the other 2k towards another seal. Using Kaze once again as the example for weapon type, what is he fighting that he needs +10 Atk (Rally is +4, and it's 6 Mt from Iron to Silver for Daggers/Shuriken) to kill, that you couldn't just use Steel and a tonic for 3 Mt increase, +2 Strength from Tonic, +4 from Rally, for a +9 Atk increase? At worst you plop someone like Camilla or someone with Inspiration if you need to secure a kill, position Corrin to support, or even just have Laslow make up the difference.
      There is so much damage stacking in the Nohr kits that it becomes really hard to justify spending 4k for a weapon that debuffs you and can only be used on player phase (Brave weapons at least have the Brave effect), as opposed to investing elsewhere and forging if needed to make up the difference.
      I also think the debuffs are more pesky than just "don't enemy phase" because mini-bosses and other bosses you probably sent a strong boss-killer that way instead of using Silvers on someone too weak to handle it. And if it's someone tanky like the Chapter 22 Onis and Blacksmiths, you'll really debuff yourself to hell if your only solution is leaning heavily on the extra Mt of Silver weapons, since it means you won't kill using anything else.
      It's a catch 22, you either don't need them because you have many other ways to supplement your damage, or you do need them because you didn't use the tools the game gave you well enough.

      Rev has far fewer mages than CQ (your only other good options in gen 1 are Hayato Magical, Corrin, and High Effort/Investment Sakura) making his decision inclusion on the team nearly automatic (you need a good reason to choose not to use him, although I've done some runs without him, its definitely doable). In general most teams want a good deal of mages, just because Tomes are good and Rev generals are really tough to kill (aside from mages, hammer and armorslayer are your only reasonable options)
