In my opinion, self defense Jiu-jitsu like Gracie Combatives translates much better to MMA because someone who knows self defense Jiu-jitsu like Gracie Combatives, they not only know Jiu-jitsu, they know how to defend against all the strikes. They know how to keep safe distance and close the distance for a takedown and take the fight to the ground where they can use their Jiu-jitsu. They know how to stay on top and use pressure in positions like mount and side control to control and exhaust the opponent. They know how to stay safe from punches and strikes from closed guard with the punch block series stages 1-5. They know Jiu-jitsu and they know how to defend themselves against all the strikes whereas a sport Jiu-jitsu person, yeah they know Jiu-jitsu, but they haven't been taught how to defend against strikes and will have a harder time adjusting and modifying their Jiu-jitsu.
brah stop it, any person who does effective no gi Jiu Jitsu is much better off than fraudulent Gracie combatives. You think training for an adcc ruleset where you have to know how to wrestle, keep someone pinned, or when on bottom you are looking to heist back up would not be translatable for mma?
@Yaboiilordrhoop yeah learning how to sit on the ground and pull guard is going to help with mma or self defense? Doing deep half guard, spider guard, X guard, that's going to help? That is all sport Jiu-jitsu stuff. Gracie Jiu-jitsu is really good for self defense. It's specifically designed for self defense. They teach you how to stay back and close the distance and take the fight to the ground on your terms. In closed guard you learn how to stay safe from punches. Especially with how closed guard is taught in Gracie Combatives with the punch block series that translates very well to mma. That's exactly how they do closed guard in the ufc. Gracie Jiu-jitsu is designed for real world real life self defense situations. They teach you how to defend yourself in a real life self defense situation, not how to score a point in a tournament.
@@dimitrioskontsiotis2267 did u not read what I just said. I agree that pulling guard and playing abstract guards makes no sense, however you are not making distinctions of the current sport direction vs gi/old sport direction. I am not an advocate of the gi for self defense and mma, and I also think in no gi guard pulling/butt scotting is silly. However the current meta of the sport is the battle for top position bc playing bottom is much harder in no gi. This means the sport is emphasizing standing position, guard passing and pinning people. Conversely, people are looking to play the heisting up/submission game when playing bottom position. That is exactly what you want for mma/self defense. Gracie combative is absolute low level bullshit. Sure I get what you are saying that’s it’s designed for self defense and what not, but u are much better off learning the new sport meta. If you don’t know about the current direction of the sport, then don’t comment on it. Your comments clearly show you don’t know the current no gi game/you have an outdated view
@Yaboiilordrhoop saying it's bullshit is completely false. That is a very rude and disrespectful thing to say. Many agree that it's the most effective self defense system out there. All I said is that a self defense Jiu-jitsu person who's done Gracie Combatives would fair better in mma than a sport Jiu-jitsu person. Like I said, in Gracie Combatives you learn how to defend yourself against punches and strikes. In the closed guard you learn how to stay safe from punches. Sport Jiu-jitsu schools don't teach that. They don't teach how to defend against strikes from standing position or closed guard. So if a sport Jiu-jitsu person starts doing mma they're going to have to adjust their Jiu-jitsu to defend against punches and they might have a harder time doing that than a Gracie Jiu-jitsu person who already has a good understanding on how to stay safe from strikes.
@ have you seen any high level person use Gracie combatives? No. Additionally you get no actual sparing with it for the first 6-7 months , which a big part of self defense is learning how to deal with actual aggression. I can’t think of many people that think Gracie combatives is the most effective self defense system. I really think you need to look into this more, because respectfully I don’t think you have a good understanding of this. If you are concerned about strikes the best thing is to learn some striking art ie Muay Thai or kickboxing in addition with current no gi jiu jitsu.
This is so effective

My opinion is : it could be very dangerous because of the Near to Heart 😮
