Il Silenzio is an Italian pop music instrumental piece, with a small part of spoken Italian lyrics, notable for its trumpet theme.
It was written in 1965 by trumpet player Nini Rosso and Guglielmo Brezza, its thematic melody being an extension of the bugle military call for taps.
It has become a worldwide instrumental standard, which has sold around 10 million copies.
It was a number one hit in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Italy and in Switzerland in 1965.
It reached the position of Number 1 in Australia on 01/09/65 and stayed in the charts for 19 weeks. In the United States it reached #32 in the Billboard Easy Listening Charts.

I organised a trumpet player to play this at my Mother's funeral.
When the song was popular in the 60's she told me she wanted it played at her funeral. She died in 2015. ❤✝️
I lost my dad in may 2018 and 4 yrs later wen I play this song I see the angels at heaven's gate playing this at his arrival there he is aceptd as a falln Christian soldier the Bible tells us that great joy and jubilation happens in heaven wen one of God's children arrived glory to God for ever

My dad was a French horn player, from my earliest memory our lives were filled with music, he could play any musical instrument including the trumpet, he won 1st place in Britian aged 13 for playing his French horn and his friends came to our house to play, when I was 16 he disappeared from our lives, I found out through the ancestry site he had died aged 72, when this plays it breaks my heart yet I love it and those memories of the music from my childhood
