Thank you Kylie and all three of you. As a child every Sunday my father’s family ( different every week, aunts, uncles, cousins) would come for dinner. Though they were not from Florence, what I loved most in your video was hearing the language . If I closed my eyes it sounded like Sunday dinner in my house . They are all gone now . I miss them so much.
Kylie, we are so impressed with your beautifully spoken Italian. Amazing how you have taken to the language so naturally, mannerisms and all. Love seeing the passion and appreciation for Italian cuisine shown in this video. ❤️
Oh my goodness! My husband and I were in Firenze 2 years ago and found this same trattoria… we loved it so much we went back a second time. Even thanked the chef before we left who got a laugh about us trying to find the word in Italian ‘chef’ when we asked about him and said how much we loved everything. Love love it. Thank you Kylie. You made our Friday … we will be back soon.
Absolutely fantastic video, felt like I was right there with all of you. Love traditional family places. That osso buco alone has me wanting to eat here one day. Thank you so much.
Thank you for this video, Kylie! We went to this restaurant today and had the best meal! We ordered the Tartufo, the Peposo, and il crostino. All three were amazing. What a special restaurant.
This brought back so many memories! I love to eat my way on my travels, and Florence has alot to offer ❤ I make a similar crostini, which in the case of my recepie has ancient eastern jewish roots. It's a treat! And I still ask my ex to cook his osso bucco for me, which he learnt from eating on our travels to Florence several decades ago, and perfected at home. He's got secrets to how he gets the results he does, and it's better than any I've had outside Italy, including NYC. My favorite meaty dish, so that's not said lightly. We are still the best of friends. Lampredotto, queing up for trippa in the street, these things are very much Florence flavour to me. I found an eatery once, on a side street, steamed up windows, no sign anywhere, it was week day around lunchtime and a narrow unmarked door kept opening and shutting and working men in workers outfits kept going in and out and my nose caught a wiff of the scents from the door and I just walked in. It was a simple lunch establishment for real labourers, not a trattoria, tile floor, tables with paper napkins no decor, and a tv in a corner, but to my surprize they welcomed us and invited us to the kitchen where the enormous pots were cooking to make our choice as there was no physical menue, and our Italian not great. One of the best descisions ever. Beans were served many ways, and the slow cooked bean soup with big bones in a pot so big it was cooking on a low stove on the floor was out of this world! Served with crusty bread, and maybe 5 side dishes and bottles of beer There were incredible sausages, from a butchers shop in the family. They just kept feeding us everything they had cooking and the guys sitting around were amused, great friendly characters. This was clearly a unique situation, us being tourists and all. I'll never forget that lunch in that no name hall with a tiny kitchen out back overseen by a Nonna with a big white apron and glasses, her family, different ages, assisting with huge ladles. I remember the conto almost made me cry. They wanted so little for a huge spread of everything they had, it was rediculous. And one of the most memorable lunches ever. If you want to eat "where locals go", go away from the pretty views, fancy fronts, avoid places made to look photogenically "Italian" or with cheap marketing pitches. Use your eyes, ears and nose, and dont be shy to ask. Try it at least once, and 9 times out of ten, you'll be pleasantly surprized and discover new flavors. I used to photograph, so I'm always observing the people on the streets, it helped me find hidden garden restaurants in Athens, creole eateries in the Caribbean you'd never guess were there, insane tiny bars in Scotland, spectacular Phó joints in Paris, etc. It's been too long now. I need to travel next year! ❤❤❤ Thanks for the reminder Kylie. I could smell that table, I'm not kidding. 😁👌❤️

Actually we Italians love salads, but it's something random for us, and officially not perceived as main dish, but I'm one of the many who make it my whole meal (personally balanced, no code intended). Some restaurants serve elaborated salads, but usually you can get a simple salad as a side dish everywhere, as you may know.
