I was born in 2001 and wish I was born during the 80s, 80s looked so cool! I grew up listening to most of these songs. I love Phil Collins, he's my top classic favorite! ♡
The best song of each year of the 80s: 1980 = The Clash - Train in Vain (Stand By Me) 1981 = Talking Heads - Once in a Lifetime 1982 = Modern English - I Melt With You 1983 = R.E.M. - Shaking Through 1984 = The Replacements - Unsatisfied 1985 = Prefab Sprout - Moving the River 1986 = The Smiths - There is a Light That Never Goes Out 1987 = Prince - Sign "☮︎" the Times (title track) 1988 = Suicide - Surrender 1989 = The Blue Nile - The Downtown Lights
Can someone explain how Shake You Down outranked Whitney's I Wanna Dance With Somebody on the 1987 year-end or how that song was a huge hit in the first place?
Shake You Down spent a longer time on the chart because it took months for it to reach its peak, whereas Whitney's song was an instant smash. These year end charts also are about chart longevity, so a lot of the biggest superstars (Whitney, Michael, Madonna, etc...) might be lower than one or two hit wonders who struck gold with one song. Kinda like how I Miss You by Klymaxx was the #3 song of 1986 though it only reached #5, it stayed on the chart for months and months
80s was the best rock n roll era. Good video.
80s music is the best.

Ty so much my dear you added John Waite
I,so miss the 80's!
Great decade with so many classics, but i feel like the european version of this would be so much stronger.
No, it’d be awful
This is based on billboard charts. The USA chart.
Only if youre a european.
European charts have nice songs that weren't known here but were huge there.
The 80's were good time growing up. I was just a teenager.
Thank you!
Early 80s still had that late 70s feeling
Olivia number one for the whole decade!! 🇦🇺
I DON'T THINK SO CHILD.
YES SHE WAS PHYSICAL WAS THE BIGGEST HIT OF THE 80S IN US CHILD!!@@johnb.dambrosio2286
@@johnb.dambrosio2286 Yes Physical was #1 for the whole decade...10 Weeks at #1
In the 90's they tried to replace the drive, passion, talent & overdrive with autotune and sexappeal and it DIDN'T WORK 🤯🤯🤯

1987 = Prince - Sign "☮︎" the Times (title track)
1988 = Suicide - Surrender
1989 = The Blue Nile - The Downtown Lights
So many beautiful songs to choose from during those era. Today all that's left are nothing but garbage
Betty Davis eyes probably one of the best pop songs ever produced of any decade at no1 on Billboard for 9 weeks!
Amo a TIFFANY la princesa del pop 💕
За Burning Heart ОГРОМНОЕ СПАСИБО!)
The Billboard charts differed to the charts we have here in Australia.
No making love nothing of at all😢😢
Now I have to hear "The Flame". Because, Cheap Trick.
It was a great song, I think it may have been 1988, I’m not sure.

Yeah good question, the only thing I could say is since it came out maybe 4-6 months ahead of Dance, it got a head start on sales/airplay.

Most of this chart is wrong. I have the Billboard books and the year end charts are mostly different. I trust the books.
Shake You Down by Gregory Abbott was a great song!
Boo hoo@@MrDonanthony
Hi, too short!
🤦♂Needs to have clips of the choruses, not just of a random part of the songs.
55%
Gloria by Laura Branigan was huge in 82. Seems all these charts forgot it. These are all subjective
Wow how is Madonna so low? LOL
👍👍👍
