Watching presently from Philippines, but back to Florida in few weeks. Hope to meet you as you travel down the ICW Indian River.

This is very informative for us. We will be doing this in 2023. We love as much detail as you can. Going to mark your journey on our chart map. Do you also keep a daily written log?

Not really a daily log, but Facebook has a lot of stuff on it too. Sailing Pau Hana on Facebook

Great video. I would take measurements of your mast holding contraptions so that you can easily remake them should the need ever again arise. Do you have space in the boat to store them?

I just noticed this post. I will never bring this boat back north. If we go back to brands, it will be on a smaller boat.

@@SailingPauHana That makes perfect sense to me.

Now you're really on your way! The small towns were pretty cool. How long or miles before you put your sailing mast up?

We've gone 650 Mike's so far...another 35 or so is where we put the mast back up.

Those small town USA's look allot like towns in NC, SC, GA and a few in (Northern) FL. along the ICW. Hopefully you will get to enjoy some of them too!
Do you plan to do the Virginia Cut or the Dismal Swamp route? Considering the Duck Weed in the Dismal Swamp side a Spring trip may be better than a fall trip. That stuff can clog the strainer pretty damn quick... 5.5 foot draft is another big consideration. I have some experience getting through Norfolk, Chesapeake and the beginning of NC. Have crossed the Albemarle Sound 6 times I think? Glad to share.
Really hoping our travels coincide for some of the trip! Steadily doing prep to get ready to leave. I have given notice at my marina, 1 month from today I am without a slip! Still no Bahamas insurance yet though.

Duck Weed and depth are definitely a concern. We have not decided/planned that part of the trip yet.

Agreed, Albemarle Sound is another shallow spot. Recommendations are to not do it above 15 knots of wind.

Did you guys unstep the last at Wardell? I heard he is pretty abrasive. We will be travelling next year from Canada and plan on dropping mast in port colborne . Its only 18 miles to buffalo

Yes...he's very old school..we wanted to drop the mast at our own marina, but the lake conditions late in the year are very questionable. We did use wardels in 2018 and this year....if you know about your boat and can help, he is ok to use, but they will be in a hurry and rush you and you may not get the cradle exactly how you want it. If you watch @ladyksailing, I think he unstepped at port colborne
