Looks good good job👍🏾, a ford focus of that year can stream from Bluetooth audio from your phone Audi the tight butts, I just got a £20 Bluetooth dongle off eBay plugs into the mmi works a treat for streaming Audi and if you got a smart phone that can handle pairing 2 Bluetooth devices simultaneously the Audi hands free works too still
Where did you connect that dongle to ? Power from USB and audio via AUX 3.5mm connector ?
Connected it to the Ami port in the glove box and usb to power it then when select media external source automatically becomes available select that, it doesn't show title names on the cars screen or work with steering wheel controls but the sound quality is as good as using memory card, if your car doesn't have Ami port and has 3.5mm aux instead use a Bluetooth receiver to 3.5mm usb powered dongle, but to be honest I got a 32GB memory card which is maximum for these Audi's and I use that most of the time fits loads of MP3 albums on there and easy to access using steering wheel controls,

I have kufatec fiscon installed in mine which plays Bluetooth and uses the steering controls but this is better.

I love these type of interfaces. I had an Connects2 USB interface for my old '98 Toyota Avensis. When I got my 2009 Avensis 5 years ago, got USB/Bluetooth/SD interface, as the car only had AUX. I upgraded it to a better interface, so that I had better voice commands and other features with my Samsung phone. I don't had a screen but the phone is in a cradle so not an issue. Also great navigation and Google Assistant works well. The best thing is it looks stock.

Glad it all turned out ok, it is plug and play but you do obviously need them instructions. Need to update the whole system in my ‘06 Range Rover so this has calmed my nerves to the point of actually doing it. Look forward to the new project Paul. 👍🏽😎
Great video! I was looking into exactly this for my A6 but still trying to find out if it will work for me or not, there's so many price differences from different companies that offer this for what appears to do the same thing.
Just curious, did you have to install an external mic for the voice commands to work on it or are you using the factory mic or is it through your phone?

This jukebox has always been putting me off on Mmi so much work to play anything at least older Audi had aux socket that was so easy to turn basic audi concert headunit into handsfree and player haha. Great job Paul!!

I want this in my Volvo but mine uses the original screen for the climate control, heated seats, radio, input settings, Bluetooth, USB and the rest. Mines a 61 plate and has bluetooth and usb, cars that are like 2008 can have usb, my sisters focus has it lol. I don’t know if I can ever fit apple car play or any kind of upgrade to my Volvo. ☹️ wow I just watched it all and it works along side the original ICE so you can switch between it so I could potentially have this in my Volvo if they make one!! I’ll have to look around for it 😃
Have had a very similar type of unit installed into my A4. It works ok but two issues are the inability to now use the main controls of the original stereo, only the steering wheel controls function in CarPlay mode. Also it is impossible to switch between old interface and CarPlay interface. Any suggestions?

Good evening Mr Paul, great video, my 2012 audi q5 had installed carplay like yours, but no sound (only when radio plays) even bought new multimedia, and also interface module (but was not that so put the original back). So I did as you, and went to Audi and bought (the expensive) mmi/aux cable. Just installed and Aux does not appear ie continues no sound when carplay. I googled a bit, and found out have to go in the hidden green mode inorder to change the aux, by pressing "setup" and "car", but switches to carplay. I also went to my mecanic to try and find the error via computer and fix it (but did not fix it). Do you have any magic words to fix it ? mine does have the bottoms on the multimedia itself not prior the gear, that is the only change (2012 in Brazil the model is). Hope you can assist further, thank you brgds Jesper

How is the hands free sound quality ? I have read that making phone calls via the Car Play makes the sound quality suffer due to the extra input lag the unit creates.

Great video. Does it play ok through your B&O speakers? Do you notice any sound reduction compared to the OEM setup that is designed to feed sound to all the B&O speakers and sub?
It sounded great with the B&O speakers and I didnt notice any loss of sound.
What additional tools/components that are not included that are required for this job Paul?
From what I can see maybe I need to get those radio release/unlock keys, USB extension cable ifI need to run that through the centre console, and a AMI to 3.5mm jack cable in addition/seperate to that kit from that seller?
you just need the keys to remove the head unit, thats it.

I think the unit was £230 and there is no touchscreen as it uses the original screen

Must of got lucky mate , everything I have ordered from China don't fit or don't work and no instructions with stuff or its just in Chinese , fair play if you got away with it working , maby the Tec was above my skill level ,👍
