I live in Canada and I had this surgery in December of 2017. I'd been on carbamazapine for just over 3 years and it was no longer working even though I was taking 1200 mg a day. The 2 lower branches of the trigeminal nerve on the left side were affected in my case. I've been pain free since my surgery. It's wonderful to have my life back ! My prayers go out to all who suffer with this terrible disease.
@@SorakaOTP462 I wasn't in constant pain, it came in waves or by certain triggers like the wind hitting my face, brushing my teeth, eating, talking, shower water hitting my face etc.. When the pain would hit I would immediately drop to the floor and usually pound on the floor until the pain passed. You certainly wouldn't want to hear the profanity pouring out of my mouth. I'm not a screamer. Believe me it's torture !!!
@Gaurav Chauhan I had some numbness at the surgery site that slowly went away during the first two years. I was 53 when I had the surgery. In my case there was a vascular loop that was pressing on the trigeminal nerve. It's been just over five years now since the surgery, and I'm still pain free.
@Gaurav Chauhan I don't know if my compression was in the root entry zone. Nothing was ever mentioned of that. How is your condition being managed ? Is medication working well ? Are you considering other options ?
Trigeminal Neuralgia 5 years. GAMMA KNIFE Oct 26, 2023. 😢 my story a unique one as the Dentist left an object in my jaw that caused my facial paralysis. I also suffered a CSF leak out my left nostril and had an endoscopy surgery to repair a Crack in my skull. I would love to share my story in hopes it begins healing and help others. 🙏
I was 68 when it happened to me. It was horrible when I had an attack falling to the ground screaming. I had vd surgery two years ago and the monster has stopped. I’m so thankful for Dr. John McGregor for fixing me. So far so good. This whole ordeal changed me spiritually as I never knew how horrible pain could be.
I had a bicycle accident over thirty years ago that caused me to go over the handlebars and strike my head on the pavement. At the time the hospital stated that, although I hadn’t fractured my skull, it could cause me problems later in life. Striking my head had caused a slight dent in my skull above the left eye. I was absolutely fine until about three years ago I started getting localised pain in the region of the dent. The pain flare-ups initially occurred about twice a week but have now progressed to every day. The hospital neurologist suspects this is supraorbital nerve pain, but all the NHS can do is prescribe medication such as Amitriptyline. I’ve tried this but it doesn’t work! I just haven’t got a clue where I can turn now. Any ideas would be most appreciated.

If pain is really that terrible weren't you screaming all the time?

@Gaurav Chauhan My head hurt really bad and I was very nauseated. The first 48 hours was the worst.
