Thank you for sharing such a wonderful tutorial Helen! Botanical watercolour painting can be intimidating but you made this tutorial so accessible and relaxing!💜 Very enjoyable and leant so much! Thank you💜
Beautiful. I'd love for my efforts to produce something so sublime. Such a restful video, I'm going to attempt this at home. At 67 I've just started painting again after being obliged by parents to drop art in favour of domestic science at school, such a harsh decision. I've been married to an artist for 42 years and he's thrilled that I'm drawing and painting again.
Really helped with my attempt at a freesia. Thanks Helen.
Your patience and delicate hand with your paint taught me so much. Thank you for sharing your talent. Subscribed.
thank you ! It's always good to have a reminder that one often doesn't need more than the three primary colours !
Thanks Sue! You’re welcome!
Helen, thank you for sharing your lovely technique. With your patience and calming voice, one can surely get lost in painting this little bud. Three primary colors, that's amazing what hues can be accomplished. Love it.
Hello Roxana! I'm always amazed every time I come back to my limited palette. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

Ah thank you so much!
Hello Helen, I have just stumbled across this clip this morning. Amazing, inspiring and now I’m so motivated.💜 Still in lockdown in Melbourne, Australia after many, many months. Just what I needed to kick start my painting again. Our classes were halted back in March. Now my freesias are just about to bloom. So very timely.
I have subscribed today. Eager to follow more. Thank you.
Hi Suzanne! I'm so pleased you found it, and found it to be inspiring. I hope you enjoy it and please do let me know how you get on!
Thank You so much for sharing your talents…..
It is fascinating to see you paint. Thank you a lot for sharing.
So glad you liked it Rowena. You're very welcome.
Only just found your Instagram and your UA-cam sights. Love your gentle style and I’m looking forward to attempting this lovely little freesia. Your video on the Isle of Mull made me homesick. Funny because I’ve lived in Australia now for many years!
Hello Eileen! Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed seeing Mull (I hope the homesickness wasn't too much!) I really hope you love painting the freesia! Do let me know how you get on. x
Thank you, this is beautiful! I found it very helpful. It would have been even more helpful for me (watching on my cell phone) if your painting wasn't so tiny. I couldn't really see a lot of what you were doing until the very end when the camera was closer. But gorgeous, thanks so much.
Love this - that’s my weekend watercolour practice sorted! Thank you for sharing 🌸
Wonderful! You're very welcome.
You did an absolute amazing job capturing the essence of that stunning flower, well done! I stumbled upon your channel by accident, but instantly subscribed! I look forward to watching many, many more of your videos... Blessings to you and yours from North Carolina, Stacy
Thank you so much Stacey! So glad you found me. I’ll do my best to create more videos like these!
Gorgeous!
Hi Helen. Loved your video! Your paintings are amazing! 🌿
Thank you so much Grace! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
This was so helpful! Thank you for showing your process. I've just started a botanic illustration course (waiting on course materials to arrive), and am really happy to have found your channel. I loved seeing the transferring your drawing to watercolor paper using tracing paper technique. Never seen that before! Your video production skills are great too. Really soothing, light and generally pleasant to watch
Hi Rebecca! I'm so glad you found it helpful. And thanks for your comments re: production - all new to me, so I'm glad you found it nice to watch!

Lovely tutorial as always Helen.
Thanks so much Trina!
Hermoso ❤️❤️❤️ saludos desde Chile 🇨🇱😊
Lindo demais a sua arte, parabéns, aqui no Brasil infelizmente não valorizamos tal arte que é apaixonante, você nos inspirou, obrigado por isso!
Your art is very beautiful, congratulations, here in Brazil unfortunately we do not value such passionate art, you inspired us, thank you for that!
Very nice! First time to see you! Have subscribed! Enjoyed watching your techniques.
Hi Rhonda! Welcome!

Thank you so much!
I love the approach and the delicacy to which she replied to the paper. The description was wonderful. I need a little more practice, a lot more practice. Thank you
Helen, this was so interesting, I'm inspired, I absolutely loved it & the picture is beautiful ❤️
Hello! Oh I’m so pleased to hear it! I’ll have to have you round for painting lessons soon - covid allowing! 🥰🧑🏼🎨
Definitely, however I’m sure it would be quite a task! 😬
Loved the detail of your instruction, the “real time” pace, and especially your explanation on color mixing/retaining color purity. Very helpful. Also, your quiet demeanor and music takes away the stress. Thank you for sharing. Judi
Very enjoyable! A suggestion....could you please move the camera closer to the painting and more over head? I was having a bit of difficulty actually seeing what you were doing.
Hello from Chile, Thanks for your class. Where to get your dish multispace?
Wow! Helen, that was amazing! Now that I've watched it all the way through, I must give it a go and paint one along with the video, which was very beautifully filmed by the way. Well done!
Hi Bonnie! Wow that's great, I'm so excited to hear how you get on, so please do let me know!
Hi Helen. Just found you. So beautifully done bud! And one of the best tutorials also, so clear and detailed. I haven’t done any painting for a long time, but in watching your video I felt the need to get again brushes and paints and give a try at the freesia bud. As we may have another lockdown in Rome, I’ll have plenty of time to follow other videos you may post.
Hello Christina! Thank you so much for your lovely message, I'm so glad that you found it helpful. I hope there will be lots more to come in the future. Take care of yourself, wishing you all the best if you are moving into lockdown again. X
Hi Helen
I was looking for an alternatie to the Rosemary & Co. brushes, we don’t get them in the US. I would be grateful if you could suggest alternative for both synthetic and kolinsky hair brushes. Thank you!
Have u thought about moving?
😍
Thoroughly enjoyed. I follow you on Instagram and just subscribed to your blog. Looking forward to more. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. Veleria Langbehn
Oh so pleased to hear this Veleria. I hope you find it inspiring, great to have you here.
Great video! Just need a closer view of your brush. Cant s what you are doing exactly
Thanks for the feedback Connie! Even when in full screen? I'll bear this in mind for next time - really appreciate your comment!
Thanks for the tips. I really want to take up painting.
Is the giveaway international?
You're very welcome, yes, it is!
Can only echo what everyone else has said, only wish your painting was two or three times larger on camera to be able to see better your beautiful work.
Thank you so much for your feedback - I will make sure that the next videos the painting itself is larger/camera closer! x
