Oh and speaking of that, "Alien" also had a couple of attempts for series to be live action and animated but failed. And as of right now, they finally announced it to happen and it will be on FX from series creator Noah Hawley who also created the "Fargo" anthology series from that same channel.
The pilot of The Sopranos was shot in 1997 and just months before HBO made a call to greenlit the series and filming other episodes for season 1 the following year in 1998 and being premiered weekly until the finale in 1999.
@@MrTooVaLoo The pilot was filmed in 1997, a year after the movie. The show was canceled before it could air. It was eventually shown on TV on Trio in 2003 as part of a retrospective of shows that had been canceled. .
Edie Falco did just fine, but John Carrol Lynch is one of my favorite actors of all time. I couldn't get behind the actor playing Norm in this at all. The chemistry there was just not very good.
I like that actor. I do not know his name but he plays the boss of the Alaska Daily newspaper on the television series Alaska Daily, which is one of my favorite television series that was released during the year twenty thousand and twenty two.
OMG that’s such a terrible show, they got the completely wrong ideas about what made the film great. Thank god it got canceled, or else we might not have gotten the masterpiece Fargo (2014). I sincerely think that the new show is one of the greatest audio visual pieces of art ever made, on the same level with the wire and breaking bad
I agree, it was way too soon, the movie was still building it's cult classic status. They totally missed the mark with the writing because they weren't aware of what fans will eventually come to love about the film. First of all it was tvPG, second they made it more of a mystery and centered the story around Margie when in the film we see exactly who did what as it happened and why and all the entangled fuck ups that followed. Not to mention the lack of dread in the show's atmosphere and the motif of detachment and cold indifference.
Oh yeah, the Fargo series is a masterpiece. Criminally underrated. If HBO had put it out I think it would have been a phenomenon. Nothing against FX, they’ve done a brilliant job I think people just don’t yet equate the FX brand with great television creation.
The real fargo tv show is simply incredible. My second favorite show ever next to Breaking Bad. The fact that each season has new interesting characters and a new enthralling story is nothing but amazing. Noah Hawley is a genius
@@claymac7895 FX is the best basic cable channel. Other than Better Call Saul AMC has nothing. FX in recent years has Fargo, Legion, What We Do in the Shadows, People vs. OJ Simpson, and last decade The Shield.
This is just bad all around and looks like a second rate cinema student film. It was actually directed by Kathy Bares but had no involvement from the Coen brothers.
I feel like this was more of a stage play then a tv pilot, the direction was just a bit off. If this had been successful and made into multiple season, it's a high probability that Edie Falco would not have been Carmella Soprano and television history would have been vastly different. Talk about a parallel time line
Maybe one of the stupidest things I’ve ever read lol. James gandolfini is one of the best actors to ever grace the screen, but there’s no way he could play Carmela, so automatically edie falco is better that him right?
this pilot is funny-lookin'"
"Uh-huh... In what way?"
"Ooh, just in a general kinda way..."
LMFAO!
Yeah. You betcha
It's not circumcised. 👍
This was their first attempt at trying to make Fargo into a TV series? I didn't know that.
Oh and speaking of that, "Alien" also had a couple of attempts for series to be live action and animated but failed. And as of right now, they finally announced it to happen and it will be on FX from series creator Noah Hawley who also created the "Fargo" anthology series from that same channel.
Eddie Falco, holy shit. This was right before she was cast in Sopranos. I had no idea she did this.
actually sopranos started 4 years before this pilote
@Doomer K Kid this pilote is 2003 and "4 years before" is... 1999! Tadaaaa!!!
@Doomer K Kid ok, u r right, but anyway you are a stupid dickhead (fact)

A 1997 pilot for a Fargo television series featuring Eddie Falco? Listen to yourself, you sound demented!
Is it me or does Eddie Falco sound too New Jersey for this?
It would be pretty meta if some character was watching this pilot in the next season of Fargo.
I was an extra in this pilot when I was 12.
Where are you in this?
I think that's pretty cool!
awesome.
@Zipgun TV that's not nice. why would you think he's lying? is it because you lie often, so you think others do, too? that's usually the case.
Nicholas Cisternino On this occasion it’s because the guy is actually lying .
This looks like the showrunner came from the X-Files writer's room.
Holy hell! What a find. Thanks for posting
Geez. Yah. This would have been a great pilot. You betcha...yah.
O K Then
Oh, yeah.

Even when that show is bad it’s good, even when they can’t nail the accent they still give a great performance through it.

Quirky characters minus the dark humor and violence equals failure. That's the problem with this pilot.

oh yah, glad they waited
Nice to see unfilmed and unaired creation or try. Then we got the modern 2010s Fargo.
I think it was charming. Not Hawley level but not terrible
So weird seeing Tony Sopranos wife in a Fargo Tv show 🤔

Where this failed the 2014 FX version would succeed in a huge way
I was thinking that Edie Falco and Frances McDormand look alike, I love Fargo and The Sopranos. I didn't know this existed till now.
Glad this wasn't made. Never would have gotten the masterpiece of the show today.
Also, Frances McDormand > Edie Falco
So Carmella Soprano, or Marge Gunderson?! What's' the latest season about that people HATE?!
HOLY SHIT
CBS had a BAD development year- and turning down this pilot as a weekly series was one of their worst decisions.
@docstock&barrel Absolutely, Fargo 2014 is a masterpiece.
May not have had Nurse Jackie either.
A Fargo (1997) pilot. This was probably aired in 2003. Trio is in Canada right?
New York/jersey sounding Minnesota accent..
Anyone know the name of the actor on the left at 38:17? I've seen him before
He´s Bruce Bohne. You´ve seen him in Fargo, the film. He appear as a police officer when the 3 corpses of the beginning are discovered.
The song “my way” is playing on piano at 11:14 lol
Thank god this didn’t get picked up because we would have never had Carmela Soprano.
Not gonna lie, this kinda sucks.
I don't like the lack of the similarities between the original and this Marge Gunderson ( mainly the voice )
Why don't yo do somethin about it?
Max

my god the screenplay is so bad... and its too slow moving, wayyyy to slow, i can see why it wasnt picked up
That’s a huge-o newborn baby
トムハンクスJrが警官役で出ています。コーエン兄弟の映画は勿論ですが、TV版ファーゴも、良かったで。
That's his son Colin Hanks.
Wow!!!
Why not available? Bah!
You know what also is our chaz starred nurse Jackie right
Is it me or does Eddie Falco sound too New Jersey for this?
Good this God dropped because the faro tv show with Billy bob is great and sopranos..I mean come on.
Oh this is awful. Accents are worse than the movie
If anyone actually did talk like that there, it was generations ago and now dead for a long time.
Yea yea yea Frances is better… There’s no way Frances can play Carmella no way.

Eddie Falco ? Carmela Soprano? On Fargo???
Nice
23:28 Song?
Is that Allison Janney?
1997
This was a disgrace to the original movie...
Sorry, but those are my thoughts...

Totally over-exaggerated accents.
Nah, norther mn, wi sounds pretty close lol. Lived there for years
@@jamesstephenson2346 Not even fucking close. I still do.
Sorry, none of the charm of the movie or the FX series.

lol nah
Not even close
