There is a touch of elegant decadence in his slightly blues jazz which soothes the deepest troubles of your mind by taking you to the brink of dispair so that you actually realise yourself that life is after all worth living... Always with red wine of course in front a wood fire.
My first cd of jazz was the one of Chet Baker: "The best thing for you", and he has stayed one of my most favorite jazz players, no, i'm wrong, HE IS my favorite jazz player, discovered in 1996 or around that year, but he stays in my hart and mind, he, toghether with Miles Davis and other great performers were my relief and hopes and comfort in those days, and they still are, thanks for your music Chet and the rest of the jazz-artists, you guys and gentlemen make the history, xxx.

Getz was a technician. Nowhere near Baker's class. With Baker, the music played HIM. The only time Getz rose to that level was in 1964 with the Getz/Gilberto album. His playing there is magesterial...simply because he had fallen in love with Astrud Gilberto...
