I read somewhere that the song is based on a true case in the UK... a family left their kids (or maybe only one kid, not sure) on their house attic while they left for holidays. The only food left for the kid('s) was candy. I read this long time ago and not sure if this is actually true but if it was true that is so soooo sad.

Melida Quintanilla there was a couple who locked their children in the attic and hardly fed them. They at fibreglass insulation they were so hungry.
