    Depends how much of the waterways system you really end up cruising. I've met so many narrowboat owners who started off saying they wanted to be able to explore the entire system but ended up seldom venturing from their home stretch of canal or even leaving their mooring. I've travelled along more rivers and canals and seen more of the system on my 12ft widebeam than most of the narrowboaters I know.

    You remind me of Hugh Laurie
    ☺. I think the idea of living on a boat sounds great. Not sure if I am daring enough!

    Why don't you cover it with a tarp and then you could paint it when its warmer and raining?

    “We know that both of us will eventfully want.a wider boat”.
    Let me translate this for us older folks;
    “Buy the boat you won’t want to sell.”

    I subbed a couple of months or so back when I came across you're channel and I think you're both going into this wonderful adventure with you're eyes wide open and with you're heads well screwed on, and spending the money you have on the right stuff at the right time considering the restrictions of not being able to do it all at once right from the start. Of course bow thrusters aren't necessary BUT you WILL find it VERY useful on some occasions and well worth having no matter what some people say about them. I'm intrigued to see how the composting loo works out on a boat as I'd be interested in one in the future myself, I think the ones that split wet and solids is definitely the right way to go... Pun intended;) I was wondering are you considering solar and a wind generator, just solar panels or neither? Sorry if you mentioned it before. Am looking forward to you're updates as time goes on! Also a doggy companion would make a GREAT addition when you're both settled in! B-)

    Have you seen the blogs by John Barnard Ltd about boat painting?

    I saw your boat has rivets all around. Are these functional connecting the hull to the cabin or more decorative traditional style?

    This is crazy, I live in Edmonton Alberta Canada - no canals here - and I'm quite interested in your journey to becoming live aboard people. I hope eveything turn out just as you expect it to.
    Please keep posting VLOGS.
    Thanks,, CARD02

    wide beam v narrowboat choice is easy , if you need the space of a wide beam by a house . wide beams are hated by the real boating fraternity because the system was not built for it , even the grand union was not realy for wide craft it was to lock a pair of narrowboats . they are becoming a nightmare on the oxford canal this madness has to stop .

    Hi, great videos. Cant wait for the rest. A tip on your paint. The epoxy primer is not Ultra Violet protected so you need to keep it covered from the uv from daylight.

    have you thought of plastic wrap like major truck companies use? you can make your own designs and even have sign wrighting built in

      +Neil Harrison... Don't think plastic wrap would last long with all the rubbing and scuffing, abrasions of branches rubbing against it, people walking around it etc. And that's just above the hull...Would look nice but not for long.
