      +Brian Tyler - great interview. Thanks for all the insight and advice. It's great to see a composer who's a little less straight-laced. TO the interviewer - thank you once again for another amazing interview.

    I came here cos I enjoy his music. Now I realise that Brian Tyler is actually a very likeable, realistic, sound person. I'm impressed, and happy I can merge my like for his music with a like for the person. :)

    I love that you guys talked about social media. I see it all the time and it is very discouraging how people can say I hate this composer I hate that composer I hate this music. We are literally talking about people who compose music to films and we cannot get away from the word hate or curse words. It really is a shame because I think every composer should be held up for the kind of work that they do.

    Such a fantastic interview! I recently saw him conduct at the Disney Concert Hall, and it was truly a life-changing experience.

    Great interview... can't wait to see Brian with the Philamornic orchestra this Saturday! Saw Jerry Goldsmith live a few times and I've always appreciated Brian's scoring which reminds of the heart Jerry used to encapsulate with his music. I'm just hoping that Brian chooses to play music from Rambo, one of my favourite scores he composed!

    I've been watching these All Access videos for a while now and I love them! One point of advice though, could the interviewer also record his voice through a mic or maybe even a smartphone? It's sometimes really hard to hear his questions due to the massive drop in volume and quality. Other than that, great job and please keep them coming :)

    • @FilmMusicMedia
      @FilmMusicMedia  8 років тому +4

      +RidvanDuzey Definitely noted! These are 1-man crew operations, haha. And I know this one was a bit far cause of the setup, but hopefully some better gear coming soon! Thanks for your support and suggestion!

      +RidvanDuzey fresh dude, that was also a point that i immediatelly noticed - but it wasn't just worth to make a comment, cause i just wanted to listen to the interview. thanks for bringing that point up! :)

      +KingUDERZO Hey, no thanks! If it means better quality for all of us, then I'm glad that I suggested this to Kaya :)

    • @FilmMusicMedia

      +KingUDERZO All comments and criticism are welcome! If I could hire a TV crew with gear believe me I would haha. But I'll play with the microphone setup on the next one, see if I can capture more of my voice. I think I mentioned before, usually I sit close enough so my voice is pretty audible. Brian just had this nice comfy set of plush recliners where directors sit to listen to his work in progress and I was on those :P. Cheers! Glad everyone is enjoying the content!

    Really interesting interview :) I think Junkie XL is also a really cool guy to interview. His background story is very uncommon in terms of film score composers.

    Great interview! And Brian Tyler needs a screensaver lol!

    • @FilmMusicMedia
      @FilmMusicMedia  8 років тому +4

      Funny you mention it! If you notice on our John Powell interview. His screensaver started going and it was a bit distracting. I asked Brian to disable it for the interview :)

      I relate to this! the main reason is that screensavers can make your DAW to collapse, imagine you go for a cup of coffee then when you are back your session is either corrupted, freezed or damaged, you don't want that believe me, once I was working on a VGM cover and I had to stard over because of the screensaver.

    Good interview ! I really like how he has no issue putting his views out in the open, could care less if people are triggered. However I would like to have a 10 minute talk with the man because he seems very confused about the larger deeper issues of life which I myself spent many years thinking about. Oh well lol. For instance I would love to hear how he believes matter gave rise to a non material entity we call consciousness. I would love to know how secularism is not a self refuting faith position since there are no oughts in secularism yet every secularist believes they ought to be a secularist. Oh the joys of philosophy ! : )

      You are a pseudo-intellectual I take it? You say big words but don’t understand what you mean. Why do we need to question consciousness? Ridiculous comment.

    I really enjoyed it, many thanks for doing these. Just a little suggestion: I'd love to hear composers talk a little bit more about their way of getting THEIR sound, meaning favorite plugins, libraries, session players for solo parts, midi controllers, editing midi CCs or other habits or even accidents that led to a particular sonic result. And before the question arises, I don't consider this "giving away any secrets" because you still have to put the work into it by yourself to figure it out for your own workflow. Interesting topics, though, as budgets are shrinking and one have to rely on sample libraries more often these days.

      +Frank Herrlinger Thanks for the feedback! We do hear a few requests about that, but that's not really our area of focus. "Tech talk" is something other channels like Spitfire Audio do really well and sites like vi-control.net have forums where even Hans Zimmer is known to pop in and give advice in that area. And since we come from filmmaking and writing backgrounds we probably wouldn't be as detailed as composers watching would like. The focus has always been to get into their creative and emotional thought processes when it comes to storytelling.

    Hey Brian could you be please maybe talk about how you came up with the idea to do the children of dune Inama Nushiff I think that is one of your greatest works and I’m a lot like you growing up almost the same way my grandfather was a big band drummer and worked with some of the biggest and I grew up loving John Williams as well and I’m a composer, musician so I just wanted to know how you came up with the lyrics and the sounds used for that OST

    @10:27 good discussion. First time I have heard this talked about. And I think its healthy to ignore it as noise. And this is exactly why I dont think people should get over emotional about negative comments. Who cares?!?!?! Negative comments shouldn't hurt your feelings. It's a sign of social media naivety to think everyone should be NICE and polite on social media... who cares! Its just chatter and noise! People like to voice their opinion it's not worth much unless they can monetize their opinion into a podcast or channel etc..
