Covering 2,443.61 square kilometers (943.48 sq mi), it is the Philippines' largest city by land area. With a population of 1,776,949 according to the 2020 census, Davao City is the third-most populous city in the country (after Quezon City and Manila) and the most populous city in Mindanao and the Davao Region, as well as outside of Metro Manila.
