Good morning everyone. There maybe a few slow replies on this video as I’m in sunny Stratford upon Avon, but thanks for watching and have a great weekend 👍
I totally understand Paul. I’m there quite a lot at the moment as it’s closer to me then the lakes and the landscape is beautiful. Mountains and beaches 👍
You know what....I like all the photo's! Fav is probably the beach with the single figure but I'd be chuffed with any of those. I agree with Helen's choice as well. The three boats together is a great shot with the square crop. What a great beach. I holidayed in Anglesey but never saw that beach. Got some photo's of my dog, Gwenhwyfar, playing on a different beach further north with a giant yellow float that had washed ashore. She's long gone but the look on her face of pure joy makes those shots more important than any landscape.... getting all soppy now, I'll shut up. :-\
Hi Iain, You’re not soppy mate, we lost a German Shepard around 7 years ago and I still miss her today. Considering the time of day I’m fairly pleased with the images as well. I like the concept of a single person or object in a vast expanse of land and I’m pleased I played around with compression. Something I should consider more when composing a shot. Thanks for your continued support mate and have a great week 👍
I think you consider more than enough when composing. Sometimes snap shooting gets the results..see it..shoot it...siimples. Considering all the rules can lose you the opportunity, the moments gone by the time you've got your tripod out....oooow matron! The last thing that landscape photography often is slow and relaxed. Photo ninja that cloud!
Beautiful photographs, shows you can produce great images even in the middle of the day. The image with the people on the beach on the sand it's a little bit like the Victorian artist David Cox Who often painted figures crossing sands .
Hi Simon, I have a painting at home with 2 people dancing on a beach and that’s what inspired me to take the shot. I’m not familiar with the artist you’re referring to, but I’ll Google him now. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 👍
Like the simplicity and colours of the shot at 3:48. Lovely relaxed pace to this one, and nice to see someone giving so much thought to what they're shooting 👍
Hi Ian, I’m visiting Snowdonia more and more recently as it’s closer to me than the lakes and never disappoints. I’m back there this weekend for another wild camp. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment mate. You know it’s appreciated 👍👍
Good on you for doing a middle of the day one Darren. Would love to visit there, my kind of place. Great watch as always. Lovely trio of final images. 70-200 for me.
Hi Jon, You’d love it there mate. My next video is on the same beach but at sunset which was perfect to light up the marram grass on the dunes. Get yourself over to Snowdonia bud 👍👍
Nice shots Darren, I like both the 50 and 200mm shots equally, they give something different. Keep up the entertaining and informative vlogs. Cheers Russ
Hi Val, Thank you for the lovely comment. Sometimes I think I chat to much and should focus more on the photography side, but I enjoy making the videos and so I’ll carry on with this format for now. Have a great Sunday 👍
Hi Bernard, I hope you’re having a good week. The image you referring to was shot the following day at sunset, but I thought it fitted this video nicely. Take care mate 👍
Love your videos and your authenticity Darren. Regarding the wrecked boat, loved the middle one the best. Why, because I loved how having the boat in the lower left played well with the light house. 2nd favorite was the last one shown.
Hi Mark, Thanks for the lovely comment mate it’s very much appreciated. I’m really pleased you enjoy the videos as I have a lot of fun making them Have a good weekend bud 🍺
Hi Darren another interesting vlog and you slipped a sunset photo in at the end personally I like the sunset image that splash of colour over the hills and the cloud reflections in the pool of water make it. Thanks for sharing. P.S. Hope you and your good lady had a good time celebrating your wedding anniversary in Stratford upon Avon.
Hi Paul, Thanks for watching mate. The image you’re referring to was actually shot the following evening when I was shooting the marram grass at golden hour, but it seemed to fit nicely with this video. We had had a great time in Stratford upon Avon thanks and the weather was just perfect for a long day outside. Have a great week 👍
Another enjoyable vid Darren. I always come away both entertained and with ideas to expand/improve my own photography. It’s often said that a good photograph is one that tells a story. A lone person in a wide open landscape is a powerful image that tells all sorts of stories of solitude, loneliness or peace and yours captured these emotions with spades mate. Nice work :-)
Hi Julian, Thanks for the kind words bud. I have an image on my wall at home that I bought well before I was into landscape photography and that is of a couple dancing alone on a beach. As you say, single people or objects in a vast expanse can be quite powerful. Have a great week mate 👍
Looks a cracking spot, loved the first two images shown - think the midday light helped, emphasised colour and shape with the distraction of texture. For the boat images, first one closely followed by the third for me; the long lens version didn't do it for me, but it's all about personal preferences. Thanks for the vlog.
Hi Darren. I’m with James on that one! EOS R, every day of the week :-). OK, there’s a couple of button placement issues but it’s essentially a mirrorless 5D mk4 and I love mine. The shutter coming down to protect the sensor when the camera’s turned off is a game changer. Best, J
Great to be reminded that dawn and dusk are not the only times! I liked your first shot best of all. The atmospheric perspective gives a feeling of enormous space - which is exactly what I look for at the seaside. The wreck shots were all good. My preference would probably depend on my own mood at the time. You were right about the lighthouse though - it's not an important element - this time.
Hi David, The 1st shot you’re referring to is Newborough beach and I fell in love with it the 1st time I stepped onto it, for all the reasons you describe. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment and I hope you have a great Sunday matey 👍
I am a sunrise photographer my self I love Llynddwyn for photography never photograph the wreck so maybe next I will go shoot that as well great video enjoyed it
Nice video; I came here after watching your trek up the Glyders. The beach you were on with the wreck is superb; vast open and beautifully sandy. Most people stick to the other side with the 2 lighthouses as it's the touristy bit. Maybe why the quieter beach is an unofficial naturist spot ;)
Nice one Darren, inspired to head out during the day, rather than stupid o'clock! The compression of the long lens works well, loved the image at 10:39
Hi David, I hear what you’re saying about about stupid o’clock. That’s why I’m uploading once a fortnight at the moment. To get to my local beach for sunrise, I have to wake up around 1am. Bring on the autumn 😉 Have a great Sunday matey 👍
Another lovely vlog Darren, I have just come back from mid and west wales, it still after so many years travelling stuns me how beautiful our Country is, I have an upcoming vlog myself about these places I have been very soon.
Hi Ian, Yeah I was speaking with Richard the other day on Twitter and he said you guys were in Wales. We certainly live in a beautiful country and there’s so much to see and do. I’m currently in Stratford upon Avon at the moment which is stunning. I’ll look out for the video mate. Have a great Sunday 👍
Hi Darren, thought you gone on a sabbatical Have to say I've mist your video's and also have to say the shots all of them are great, stunning location to,
Hi Gary, No sabbatical for me mate, I’m uploading on a Saturday at 8.30am, but once a fortnight at the moment. Once we get into the autumn, I’ll be back to once a week. Take it easy bud 👍
Perfect timing this mate. Taking the family up to North Wales for a week next weekend and was looking for a decent beach to visit and this looks perfect, and I get the classic lighthouse shot while I'm there too. I loved the pastel blue tones in those first images and preferred the 50mm shot of the wreck. Was the last image taken at the same visit?
Hi Jamie, The last image was taken the following day at sunset (which is my next video) but it fitted in with this video nicely. It’s a beautiful place mate and I’m sure you’ll love it there. Hopefully catch up again soon mate as it’s been to long 🍺
Great vlog Darren. All the images were fantastic but I would give number one my top vote. I love this area. Also would you recommend the site you stayed on as we are looking to visit Anglesey in the camper van? Best regards - Rob
Hi Robin, The campsite is very basic but a great location. It’s basically a large field with electric and the showers are run by putting 20p in the meter. The owners are friendly and very helpful which was nice. And so yes I’d recommend it, but more for its location than amenities I hope that’s helped mate 👍
Good morning everyone.

D Griff Gallery yeah I did 😂
Nice one mate especially the lighthouse one. You certainly do get about. I was in hemsby at the weekend, not ideal for seascapes

Really like the boat wreck images, all 3, for different reasons, focal length can really change a composition dramatically.

Re-focal length, you’re right and something I should consider more when out shooting.
