A small tribute to the Winter Solstice. For the record, I also celebrate Christmas :) This video is not intented to promote a single religion, but it IS intended to encourage religions to celebrate together :) We don't all have to agree, but we do all have to share the earth, it would be so much better if we could do it peacefully...
I am also dedicating this video to all the religious fanatics who are using youtube to beat the heck out of one another, in particular, the Pagans... Sorry to single you (us) out, but it breaks my heart to see Pagans making spiteful video's against other religions, that in itself goes totally against what we stand for...
I am not usually verbal about religion, but I am almost a full cycle of making these video's, this is seven of eight, and I have not had one nasty comment on them, which proves that if you present things nicely, and don't force it on people, then people are nice...it doesnt matter if people don't agree, but its lovely to share a little knowledge on a very misunderstood religion. As a Pagan, I feel that part of my duty is to show people that I am a decent, harmless person, and that the stereotype that television and Hollywood portray is so far from the truth.
It is wrong of any Pagan to try and convert anyone to their way of thinking. Many video's are made in hate and haste, and it should be remembered that people seeking info on Paganism are watching these video's, and often judging ALL Pagans by them!
Those that were meant to follow or understand the path will find their own way to it...
So, thats the most verbal I have ever been about religion on here, and its aimed at my own religion. Don't get me wrong there are some beautiful Pagan video's on youtube, thank you for those...
I wish I was better with words to put this message out, I hope it is received with the intent that it was written. Opinions are not usually my thing when it comes to religion.

I've always been an Enya fan, plus love this rendition of silent night, my spiritual path is pagan/wiccan but I do love things from other religions as well...Their deities are of peace unconditional love and compassion as well, and this is the time of year it really shines! I just want to wish everyone a blessed holiday season!

I agree with not converting anyone (as Polytheists, we Pagans should all know that there are countless spirits and deities and everyone has a unique spiritual path, which they alone can find). As far as the hostility towards other religions, it is completely understandable that there are still some feelings of anger regarding the religion that was brought into power (and remains in power still) through the brutal torture and killing of pagans who refused to convert; especially since it's a part of history that's largely ignored by public school systems. Other "evil dictators" in history are regarded as such, except for Charlamagne and Constantine who are -despite their horrific actions- still glorified by the Catholic Church (while our ancestors' legends are falsified and their practices demonized in order to make the actions of the church look better). Hostility in retaliation is not the best course of action in this day in age, of course, but we should certainly stand for people being properly educated about these events so that they are not repeated in the future. Just my two cents :) Happy Solstice to you!
thankyou for acknowledging the pain, so often anger and reaction come from not being understood, I feel a lot of anger when I sit through a christian mass or school concert that represents the patriarchal one god and son of god as the hope of peace and light on earth, the absence of balance is actually painful to me, and the virgin mother is an affront to the sexuality of women, even for the making of a child she was not allowed to be sexual! Let alone her pleasure for the healing and celebration of being a woman!
Just my perspective...
I believe that its not realistic to expect unity unless we make a space to hear each others' grievances and learn from each other...particularly the dominant culture need to hear the less dominant cultures...
Beautiful. I don't consider myself religious as i don't believe in any kind of deity but i love the harmless traditions of many religions and cultures. I can't understand why many persons turn out agressive against others just for so stupid reasons. I love what you said: "we have to share the earth"... We all have the same rights to be alive and to be different, and we should do it with respect for others and for this world.

The minute I shared this, Christian friends became hostile...now there's a surprise. Especially as this time of year originally was dedicated to the winter solstice..the church added Christ-mass later.

On December 25, the Sun begins its ascent to the throne, and will occupy it until June 22. Then the Sun transfers its powers to the Moon, which is celebrated as the Christmas of the Moon by Muslims. Now, December 21st, are the most difficult energetic days without the physical support of the sun. Everything that was subtle ended, died and disappeared. And those who survived - December 25 takes a new turn of the solar annual cycle. From this day on, the Sun will begin to increase the day by a few seconds.

Very beautiful, though the lyrics move a bit too slow compared to the music.
It's not about "converting". We know what happened with the Great Godess cause there stood no knights or soldiers to fight for her. Either Pagans and Heatherns defend themselves if neccesary, or they will burn in the religious fires of the monotheists.

The pagan lyrics are beautiful, but I think the Gaelic is still the Christian version, which I always thought sounded nicer than the German or English, but it would be nice to hear the pagan lyrics as Gaeilge.

of course if you live in the southern hemisphere you'll be celebrating the summer solstice on the 21st December, and the winter solstice on the 21st of June.
